Chapter 29 - Not on my watch

Hmmm!

Looking at Alexander standing in the distance, Zarek's eyes flashed with interest. He truly wasn't expecting this chubby guy to suddenly appear. From the limited time that they had spent together, Zarek had developed rather an unfavorable opinion of him—there was something about the weak-looking guy that made him uncomfortable.

Not just him, Misery Prime also seemed to have recognized Alexander and exclaimed in an excited tone.

"It's you!!"

Misery Prime's memory wasn't bad to begin with, and the fact that Alexander was the only human that he had seen besides Zarek made him even more unforgettable.

"It can talk!!"

Alexander, however, exclaimed in surprise, his mouth opened so wide that you could easily fit an ostrich egg inside of it.

He was truly stunned by the scene in front of him. The black-haired guy's summons were very strange. Alexander had only seen one negative—that they were intelligent enough. Now that he saw them again, the summons seemed vastly intelligent.

At this time, it wasn't only Alexander who was surprised. White Death also looked at Misery with intrigue.

"This goblin looks somewhat strange!"

Misery Prime was not only more muscular than other goblins, he was even covered in golden armor from head to toe.

However, the next moment she shook her head. Now that she was so close to finding her sister, she couldn't afford to get distracted.

Now that the man she was looking for was already here, there was no need to waste any time.

"Youngest son of the Silversword family, where is my little sister?"

At some point, White Death had inexplicably appeared between Alexander and Zarek, a short and sleek sword in her hand, her eyes radiating chilly light.

"This miss..."

Alexander shuttered as he rapidly took three steps back. This was the first time he had seen White Death draw her weapon, and the sheer oppressive aura radiated by her left his heart threatened to burst.

"What the hell!"

Zarek cursed inwardly. Now it was his turn to be shocked. First, he wasn't expecting a girl to suddenly appear in front of him and start to threaten him.

From how she looked at him, Zarek had a feeling that if he didn't answer or his answer didn't satisfy her, she would immediately exchange blows.

Thinking up to this point, he couldn't stop himself from internally sighing.

At this stage, fighting was the last thing that he feared—it was just how the situation was proceeding had started to annoy him.

Although he grumbled internally, his mind was already processing all the information at lightning speed.

He immediately deduced a couple of things from her single sentence.

First, somehow the girl knew him.

And second, the Silversword family—don't tell me it is that Silversword family... if it is really that, I am fucked.

Meanwhile, on the surface, his face barely showed any ripple. White Death also didn't disturb him as she thought he was thinking before answering her question.

Soon, moments passed and White Death was finally starting to get a little impatient. Her beautiful eyebrows, hidden behind the mask, began to come together to form a tight frown.

Her slender finger wrapping around the sword hilt unconsciously tightened.

Zarek simply shook his head and gestured for her to move aside. He had no idea who she was, or her sister, so how could he even answer?

Other than that, even if he knew the answer, he couldn't tell her because he simply couldn't speak.

Misery Prime also finally looked at White Death with an even gaze and declared in an indifferent tone:

"Move, woman. You are blocking Master's way."

Meanwhile, the coldness in White Death's eyes had increased several fold. Her very gaze seemed to freeze the air around her.

Alexander, who was a couple of meters away from her, could feel the temperature dropping in real time.

Zarek looked at the woman in front of him and let out an internal sigh again.

It appeared a fight was inevitable. Then so be it.

Misery Prime could also seem to have felt Zarek's intention. The way he looked at White Death turned slightly hostile.

"Look, woman, this is your last warning..."

Misery Prime, however, didn't finish his sentence but suddenly brought the Bloodseer sword in front of him.

Sparks were sent flying in the air. A fierce shockwave hit the people around them. Alexander, who was completely unprepared and the weakest of the bunch, almost fell on his butt.

Zarek, however, looked at White Death with a look of surprise in his eyes.

"Such strength!"

Even with thirty in strength, Misery Prime was pushed several steps back.

This was surprising, considering the fact the woman didn't look as if she focused on strength.

Just as he was thinking, he saw the woman's figure turn into a blur and several attacks were launched upon Misery Prime from all directions.

With his limited precision, Zarek could only see flashes of light—he wasn't able to keep up with the attack speed at all.

If that woman had attacked him, he would be nothing more than a pig on the chopping board.

"Clang! Clang!"

The relentless barrage of attacks continued. It was becoming clear as day to Zarek that Misery Prime was having a hard time keeping up.

If Misery's master was someone else, it would have been over for the poor summon, but Zarek had different plans.

If this woman wanted to play, then he would give her a fight that she could never forget.

...

Misery Prime's ebony eyes darted back and forth. Although he wasn't a master swordsman, he clearly remembered the few things the village chief had taught him. In order to predict your opponent's attack, you have to keep an eye on their wrist.

So he did just that, and resisted the woman's attack again and again.

But with passing time, the woman's attacks were becoming too fast—so fast that Misery Prime was unable to defend.

"Swish!"

The sword sliced through Misery Prime's golden chest armor, creating a terrible wound. Blood poured out and even a few of the ribs were visible.

Misery Prime grunted in pain but didn't cry out loud, displaying the spirit of a true warrior.

Although he was pushed back, the thrill and excitement that Misery Prime was feeling right now was unprecedented.

Although he had numerous battles with his brothers, all of them were one-sided. None of them had managed to push him to the edge like this woman had.
