Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

A beautiful woman walked in. She had a graceful figure, delicate features, and sharp eyes that looked as if she was observing carefully. Who was she? Her presence felt too strong to be someone from this small town. Yunna searched the original memories in her mind but found no trace of this person.

The two of them stared at each other in silence, neither speaking first.

Sister Yang looked at Yunna, who was calmly sitting at the table. Her heart was secretly happy. This person didn't seem like someone who was unwilling or out of control like others had described. Looking closely, she even noticed Yunna's appearance wasn't bad at all.

"You're awake? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Sister Yang smiled as she asked.

"Thank you for helping me. May I ask who you are?" Yunna stood up and politely bowed to her.

"I'm from the capital. I'm in this county to take care of some business. My surname is Yang. You're injured, no need to be so formal. Please, sit."

"Thank you, Sister Yang."

Yunna sat down and quietly waited for Sister Yang to speak.

Sister Yang looked at Yunna, who stayed calm and respectful, and didn't know how to bring up her brother. She had thought she'd meet someone unreasonable, who would act shameless once she saw the conditions and try to take advantage. But Yunna wasn't like that at all.

For a moment, she wondered if all those rumors about Yunna were false. But her aunt wouldn't lie to her. Could it be even her aunt was misled by gossip?

"You're really different from the rumors out there," Sister Yang said with a smile.

"You probably already know. I've been disowned by the Su family and even fell off a cliff. Maybe going through life and death made me change. I don't want to act as foolishly as before," Yunna said helplessly.

She would probably have to carry the blame of the original Yunna for a long time. Since she had taken over this body, it was now her responsibility to slowly wash away the bad reputation.

Also, the one who pushed her off the cliff was the original body's good sister. If she got the chance, she would definitely take revenge for that.

"I have a rough idea of your situation now. Do you remember what happened before you fainted?"

"I remember seeing a flash of white before I passed out."

"That was my brother. He caught you before you hit the ground."

"Oh, then I must thank your brother."

"You should be aware of your current situation. Someone saw my brother holding you. What do you plan to do about it?"

"Well, the situation was sudden and hard to avoid. If it brought your brother trouble, I apologize," Yunna replied after thinking about Sister Yang's intentions.

"You're still unmarried, right? Why don't you marry my brother?"

Yunna coughed as soon as she heard those words.

"Sister Yang, even knowing my reputation, you still want your brother to marry me? Besides, aren't women supposed to take husbands? Who marries off women?"

"You don't seem like how people described you. But your name is already ruined. No one in this town would want to marry you. That's why I suggest you marry my brother."

Yunna laughed.

"So, Sister Yang, you want to use my ruined name to force me into marriage? But when I fainted at the bottom of the mountain, I clearly saw an arrow coming my way. Was that shot by you?"

Sister Yang fell silent.

Didn't she say she only saw a white shadow?

"Sister Yang, you're from the capital, right? Must be from a wealthy family. Your brother must be a fine gentleman. So why ask me to marry him? Could it be that he's in trouble in the capital, some issue related to a man's honor? Is that why you came all the way to this small county to find someone suitable to marry him?"

"Sister Yang, what if I go to the county office and accuse you of hurting a woman on purpose? What do you think the county magistrate would say?" Yunna smiled as she looked at Sister Yang.

She had no intention of marrying anyone. In this world, women marrying was shameful. Besides, she had already transmigrated here. In this place, women could take husbands. Even multiple husbands. Why would she let herself be tied down to just one man right away? She wasn't stupid.

Since she was here, she planned to find a few handsome men and enjoy her life.

Yunna looked like she couldn't care less. After all, she had no system, no space, nothing special...

The more Sister Yang listened, the darker her face became. But deep inside, she couldn't help but admire Yunna a little. After just a few words, she had guessed so much. Maybe this woman would accomplish great things in the future.

She had worried that her brother wouldn't have a good life if he ended up with Yunna. But now she felt Yunna might actually be a good match for him.

"Sister Yang, you're partly right, but your reputation is what it is, and the county magistrate of Yi County has ties with me. Even if you try to report it, I'm afraid you won't be able to find any evidence or witnesses," Xael said after realizing the situation.

"Oh? No wonder you dared to suggest your brother marry me. So you've got powerful support behind you. I admit, you have people on your side, and I can't really argue with that. But aren't you worried that if your brother marries me, he might suffer? Once a man marries, if the wife doesn't like him, life in the inner court won't be easy for him."

"You..."

"Elder sister, let me speak with Yunna." A calm voice came from outside the room.

A man in white walked in. Yunna looked up and was immediately stunned.

The man had a handsome face and a tall, slender figure. His skin was pale like jade, and his eyes were clear and bright with a kind of determination, as if he could see through people. His straight nose, curved brows, and full, well-shaped lips all made him look like a picture-perfect gentleman.

If she married him, it wouldn't be a bad deal. Honestly, marrying him wouldn't be a loss at all. Yunna was thinking this to herself.

Xael glanced at the woman sitting by the table. He could feel her intense gaze on him, but it didn't make him uncomfortable. He knew he was attractive, and most women's stares made him feel disgusted. But this was the first time someone's gaze didn't bother him.

"Sister Yang, look at how Yunna keeps staring at your brother," someone joked with a smile.

"Ahem... What were you saying again?" Yunna snapped out of it, awkwardly shifting her eyes away.

There was no denying it. This man was the most beautiful one she had ever seen up close in both of her lifetimes.

If he existed in modern times, he'd easily become a top celebrity...

"This is my younger brother," Sister Yang said. "Since he's here, I'll leave you two to talk."

She stood up and walked out after speaking to her brother.

Yunna felt a little awkward. She had never been alone with such a handsome man before. She could feel herself getting nervous.

She even scolded herself inwardly. How could she become weak just because a pretty man showed up? Beauty really is a dangerous thing...

"Nice to meet you, Yunna. You don't want to marry me, but would you be willing to take me as your husband?" Xael asked with a smile, noticing her nervousness.

Just a moment ago, she had been confidently talking back to Sister Yang, but now she seemed a little flustered in front of him. He found it amusing.

Ever since women took power, they had become more and more delicate. Most were pampered by their parents from a young age, always surrounded by attendants. So it was common for them to be awkward around men. But Yunna really was different from other women.

Yunna looked up at Xael in surprise. Did men in this world really speak so directly?

Should she say yes? Or should she just say yes? Ah! She just got transported here and now a drop-dead gorgeous man was proposing to her? This was wild...

Xael saw her wide eyes and smiled again. "Do you need time to think about it? Will you marry me?"

Looking at his smiling face, Yunna felt her heart skip a beat. She probably couldn't resist that beautiful face.

"Uh... Well... My reputation isn't great, and you're so handsome. Don't you feel like you'd be losing out by marrying me? Besides, I don't have any money right now, and I've been kicked out by my family," Yunna quickly replied.

"I was rejected by someone in Fengdu. Before you passed out at the foot of the mountain, I held you. I must marry someone here in Yi County, and right now, you're my only option," Xael replied calmly.

"Who in their right mind rejected you? They must be blind!" Yunna mumbled under her breath.

Was every man in this world this stunning? If so, she might just thank the heavens for letting her travel here.

Xael heard her whisper, and his body stiffened. Ever since the broken engagement, people thought he had no virtue. Even his younger brothers looked down on him for ruining the family's reputation and making it harder for them to find matches.

Nyla's constant chasing only made things worse. Everyone thought it was because of his good looks that he had seduced her on purpose. This was the first time, aside from his sister, that someone actually defended him and said the girl who rejected him had no taste.

At that moment, Xael felt that marrying Yunna might not be such a bad thing after all. He even felt a hint of joy. If she could say such things, maybe she really didn't care about his past. Maybe she'd treat him well.

"Yunna, will you take me as your husband?" Xael asked again, this time more seriously after taking a deep breath.

"If you can accept my current reputation, I'm willing to marry you," Yunna stood up and looked him in the eyes.

She'd be a fool to reject a man this gorgeous who actually wanted to marry her.
