Chapter 185 - Chapter 185: The One Who Stands Out

In the Wish World, there were no exploration points, so Raymond couldn't rely on prompts to figure out who the people he saw really were.

Luckily, with the Deadshot sub-personality in his mind acting as a temporary guide, and with some knowledge of this world already in hand, it wasn't too hard for him to guess many of their identities.

For example, he instantly recognized the distinctive ones—Harley Quinn, El Diablo aka Chato Santana, and Killer Croc aka Waylon Jones.

The one speaking now, though he didn't have any obvious features, clearly carried himself like a leader. That meant he was most likely Rick Flag, the temporary commander of the Suicide Squad.

A battle-hardened professional soldier.

If Raymond remembered correctly, the mission target this time was none other than Commander Rick's girlfriend, June Moone.

Or more accurately—the other evil, magic-using soul fused with her by accident: Enchantress.

At this point, Enchantress and June were already two sides of the same being, nearly impossible to separate.

It was basically one body with two souls.

When June's will was stronger, things stayed peaceful. But if Enchantress took control, she would grow more reckless, showing her true nature.

Still, Raymond was certain the Enchantress they were about to face wouldn't be the same as the one from the Suicide Squad movie who tried to rule the world.

After all, Deadshot's sub-personality came from a DC world, not some spinoff parallel world of Suicide Squad.

There was no way a single Enchantress could truly be strong enough to dominate the entire DC universe.

But her power was not in doubt.

At the very least, with the Suicide Squad's current members, it was nearly impossible to fight her head-on.

The only one who could even stand against her a little was El Diablo, and that was just barely.

As for the rest, they were basically just there to fill the numbers.

El Diablo to the Suicide Squad was like Superman to the Justice League—the others were there to look cool, but Superman decided the fight.

Of course, with Raymond's arrival, the situation was clearly different now.

Most importantly, the current Deadshot no longer had to put up with this kind of pointless nagging.

"Hey, you there… your mouth is so filthy, did you eat crap or something?" Raymond cut in, directly interrupting Rick's carrot-and-stick speech.

"What did you just say? I didn't hear you. Can you repeat that?" Rick looked at him expressionlessly.

At the same time, his hand had already picked up the controller, his finger resting on Deadshot's icon.

Raymond knew exactly what that meant.

That controller was connected to the nano bombs planted at the back of each squad member's neck.

As soon as Rick pressed that button, their nano bombs would go off.

There might be some people in this world who could survive having their heads blown apart by a nano bomb—but Deadshot and the rest of the original Squad were definitely not among them.

Seeing the confrontation, the rest of the squad members all looked excited, as if they were watching a good show.

They had just been gathered together, so there was no such thing as team spirit.

In their eyes, if Deadshot wanted to be the one sticking his head out, then great—maybe they could use him to test whether the nano bombs were actually real, or whether they could really kill each one of them.

"If you want to hear it, I can say it ten times…" Raymond chuckled. "But I'll give you a friendly reminder—your little girlfriend's situation is really bad right now. Other than me, no one can save her."

"What do you know?!" Rick's expression suddenly changed, his calmness vanishing.

The only reason he had been able to stay calm before was because he believed he held all their lives in his hand.

If anyone dared to provoke him, he could blow them up in an instant.

In fact, he even wanted someone to step out as an example, the chicken killed to scare the monkeys.

Raymond speaking out now should have played right into his plan.

He had already been ready to press the detonation button at any moment, but Raymond's words instantly threw him off balance.

"How could he possibly know?" Rick's mind was caught between shock and anger.

It was true—the source of this mission was his girlfriend, June Moone.

To explain this, one had to mention this world's ARGUS.

ARGUS here was the same as S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Marvel world—an international, government-backed organization responsible for handling supernatural affairs.

Amanda Waller, one of ARGUS's higher-ups, was the one who decided to form the Suicide Squad, controlling Deadshot and the others with nano bombs.

And before all that, June, because of her two-souled bond with Enchantress, had already been secretly controlled by ARGUS for a long time.

In order to protect her, Rick had willingly joined ARGUS, staying by her side.

But things didn't stay peaceful. Since ARGUS kept forcing June to let Enchantress out to complete missions, Enchantress gradually gained more and more control.

The final result was obvious—Enchantress fully suppressed June, taking over her body for now.

Enchantress was extremely powerful; otherwise ARGUS wouldn't have risked using her so often.

And because of that, the destruction she could cause was just as great.

Amanda knew that if this time bomb went off, she would immediately be held responsible.

So she wasted no time, launching the Suicide Squad plan early—skipping over the integration phase and throwing them straight into the field.

But all of this should have been unknown to the Squad members.

Before they were released, they had been locked away in a secret prison, cut off from the world.

And after being let out, they were always under Rick's watch, with no chance to reach outside information.

Even if, by some miracle, they could check the news or surf the internet, June's situation was absolutely top-secret. There was no way anyone could just "find out."

And yet Raymond knew. Not only that, he even claimed only he could save her.

This completely stunned Rick.

On one hand, he was shocked at how Raymond could possibly know about it. On the other, he wasn't sure if Raymond was telling the truth.

But even if there was only a one percent chance he was right, Rick couldn't afford to gamble—because the truth was, he had no way to save his girlfriend on his own.

ARGUS's goal was to eliminate the threat of Enchantress. His goal, however, was to save June.

He knew the odds of both eliminating Enchantress and keeping June alive were slim to none.

But no matter how slim, he would never give up trying.
