Chapter 5 - Discoveries

Carne Village

2 days after the defeat of the ogre

Carne Village was a village located close to the Forest of Tob, which was inhabited by dangerous monsters. But the Wise King of the Forest made it so that rarely any monsters stumbled into the village. Right now, there was a young man who was running with buckets filled with water in both his hand towards the village's water storage, which turns out to be a well. He has been doing this for the past two days, filling the well up.

{Author here, I still don't know how well work. Like do people fill them up or do they refill naturally by either ground water or rainwater. Right now, for the sake of the story, lets just say it got depleted and needs to be refill}

This young man is none other than Dough, who has been training by bringing the bringing the water from the river to the well. Yes, that's right, training. It turns out the natives in the new world can increase their level through training, which includes him. Even though it gives only a couple of experience for a trip, but depending on how much he pushes himself, he seems to gain a little more. Right now, he had accumulated a total of 450 experience point through this activity alone. He realizes that if he kills a creature higher level than himself, he will gain bonus experience point. So, he has been holding on from leveling up his only class to level 7, since he makes it go past its limit because of his talent.

"Go! Go! Go! You can do this, Dough," Enri cheers as she watches Dough run past. She has been hanging around Dough often, clinging to him like a little sister. She hopes to one day be as strong and kind as him.

"He's at it again, that boy. He's done more than enough to help out this village, saving two of us already, but he is doing even more," said the village chief tiredly, giving up on convincing the young man to stop.

Today is the day that they will finally go to E-Rantel. Dough managed to convince John to allow Enri to tag along, but only if she sticks close to either him or Dough during the entire trip. Enri was ecstatic that she could go, glowing happily and humming a tune the whole day.

"Ready?" John asked as he got onto the horse pulling the carriage. This was the village only horse, if it died, they would have to buy a new one and that costed a fortune. Normally, two of the villagers are supposed to be on the carriage, but they see Dough as one of their own and trusts him. So now only the three of them are going, child included.

The trip to E-Rantel was peaceful, there was no wild creature along the way. Dough was just unlucky to have encountered that goblin near the woods, which led to the ogre finding the bodies and reaching him.

After they got to the gate to enter E-Rantel, there was a fee of a couple of copper coin to get in. Once they were inside, Enri asked to explore the city but only if she sticks close to Dough. John then went to sell the crops he brought while the other two explore E-Rantel.

The two headed to the Adventure Guild, intended to sell the ear.

"Here are three silver coins, sir," Replied the reception lady after Dough handed her the ear and asked how much it was worth. In this country, 13 copper coin equals 1 silver coin. 100 silver equals 1 gold coin. And 10 gold coins equal 1 platinum coin.

"I would like to sign up as an adventurer," said Dough as he handed her a silver coin. He forgot how much it cost to register, but they should be able to help him complete his registration since he does not know how to write.

"Also, can you help me fill out the form?" Dough asked.

"That would be 10 copper coins in total. Here is 3 copper coin, sir," replied the guild receptionist lady. After waiting a few minutes, she filled out the form. She then went back and brought back a copper plate.

"You are now officially an adventurer, and here is your copper plate, sir," said the receptionist lady as she handed Dough the copper plate, symbolizing the lowest rank in the Adventurers Guild.

"Now let's go explore, Enri," Dough said as he guided Enri out of the guild.

"I want to see magic. I've heard they are really cool and can do amazing stuff," Enri proclaimed as she walked out the door.

"We will, Enri, we will," Dough replied as they both headed toward a random direction.
