Fisk Building
"This car race is really something. Hell's Kitchen needs entertainment like this. Maybe it'll even draw people from outside. I'll coordinate with the government," Kingpin said, puffing on a cigar, his eyes gleaming with sharp calculation. His words revealed a mix of approval and strategic support.
He knew full well that a successful racing event wouldn't just bring excitement to Hell's Kitchen — it could also attract attention from the outside world, injecting new life into this gritty neighborhood.
Alex Ray had notified all the key players in Hell's Kitchen about the race.
"Isn't five days a bit too rushed? If we're going to do this, we should make it bigger," Wanda Maximoff interrupted Alex's thoughts. She stood to the side, arms crossed, concern evident on her face.
Though she supported Alex unconditionally, she had to admit the timeline was tight.
"This competition can strengthen ties between mutants and Hell's Kitchen's residents. The final victory will definitely belong to us mutants," Magneto declared with his usual imposing confidence.
Alex shot Magneto a displeased look. "Using your powers to cheat is off limits. How can regular people in Hell's Kitchen participate if you're bending the rules? You're definitely not allowed to race."
If Magneto joined, no one else would stand a chance. He could just levitate all the cars with his magnetism, no need to drive. What's the point in that?
Magneto glared back, silently resentful that Alex wasn't giving him any respect.
"However," Alex added, "if you want to use your powers on your car, I'm fine with that."
He explained that a purely standard race wouldn't be exciting enough for Hell's Kitchen residents—it would feel like a gimmick, and no one would watch. So, creativity and superpower-enhanced vehicles were encouraged to make the competition thrilling.
Hell's Kitchen had to have its own unique flavor.
Wanda raised another concern. "Won't the new buildings get wrecked during the race?"
"No problem. I've got it covered." Alex discovered that his home system allowed him to spend friend points to protect buildings—even enough to withstand a truck crash.
"This race looks promising. I'll sponsor two million dollars, provided Stark Industries gets naming rights," Tony Stark said, clearly interested. He was confident this would be an exciting event.
"What about the prize? Two million might not be enough to attract top-tier racers," Wanda asked again, worry creasing her brow.
Alex smiled calmly. "Don't worry. We've announced publicly that anyone who wins first place will have one of their wishes granted—within my power, of course."
"Whether it's gaining extraordinary power, a fortune, or protection from me, I'll do my best to make it happen."
The room fell silent, everyone staring at Alex in shock and curiosity.
Wanda frowned. "Are you sure? Any wish? Couldn't this cause trouble?"
"Of course. If it's beyond my ability, I'll have you choose again. No worries," Alex assured her.
This was Hell's Kitchen's first event of this scale—they had to make a splash or risk seeming stingy.
Magneto's eyes sparkled with temptation. If he won, he could ask Alex to help mutants grow stronger and improve their societal standing. The prospect was too good to pass up.
Tony chuckled to himself, imagining if he won—he'd claim Alex as his 'little brother' for a day and play a prank on him.
The Vongola family's representative spoke seriously. "Our Vongola family will compete as well. Friend, if I win, you must return and become our head."
His tone held a mixture of expectation and amusement.
Wanda blushed, daydreaming that if she won, Alex might marry her. The thought both thrilled and unnerved her. She stole a glance at Alex, noticing a flicker of hope in his eyes too.
Kingpin thought quietly, I need Alex to have a kid soon! He mentally plotted to find someone to enter the race.
Alex laughed, watching everyone lost in their own plans.
He waved them off. "Don't even think about entering yourselves. That'd be too unfair. Let your subordinates race—it'll be more balanced and interesting."
No one objected. Indeed, it would be strange for the city's big players to participate directly. The residents wouldn't stand a chance.
"As for the rest of the promotion, I'm counting on you," Alex said, then opened a portal and returned to Hell's Kitchen.
He left behind a room full of scheming and anticipation.
"Sorry, I'm taking the victory this time," Tony said confidently.
"No way! The winner's mine!" Wanda's eyes flared red, chaos magic crackling at her fingertips. No one was going to stop her from dating Alex.
"You'll back me up, Magneto!" Wanda said, turning to her father.
Magneto could only nod in surrender and thought about calling Professor X to send someone. He knew Wanda just wanted a date with Alex—a pointless waste of effort.
She's young and reckless. Best to let them handle it.
At that moment, Kingpin broke the tension. He stood and clapped. "Everyone, I'm going to find some racers. Get ready for this competition ASAP. If no one shows, it'll be a disgrace to Hell's Kitchen!"
Everyone nodded, understanding the importance of the race. They began making preparations for the grand event.
