Thor felt like a walking corpse, his former spirit and strength completely gone.
His eyes were hollow, as if his soul had vanished, and his entire demeanor radiated despair.
What made Thor most furious was that Alex Ray had once again lifted Mjolnir right in front of him, swinging it with ease.
He stared at the hammer that once symbolized his power, now shining in Alex's grip, and a deep, bitter ache surged within him.
Alex held Mjolnir with visible disdain. To him, it was nothing more than a harder hammer now.
As for Odin's decree that "he who is worthy shall possess the power of Thor"—that was just a line from a movie. In Alex's mind, the old man never truly expected anyone else to lift it.
Alex knew it was called Thor's hammer because of the god it had once belonged to.
A pity, really—if only he knew someone with the legendary "Cloak Hammer Technique," he would've shown off right then and there.
Just then, the Destroyer broke free and roared, charging at Alex like a wild beast.
But Alex didn't flinch. Wielding Mjolnir and drawing on his Thunder Fruit abilities, he engaged the armored behemoth in brutal combat.
He looked like a mechanical version of Thor—hammer in hand, bolts of lightning coursing from his body as he unleashed attack after attack, forcing the Destroyer to stumble back under the onslaught.
Every swing was a thunderclap. Every strike, a burst of divine force. The Destroyer couldn't even get close.
Thor watched in silence, pain rising in his chest.
Everything he had once been—the power, the glory—was now being wielded by someone else. And he, the true God of Thunder, stood there powerless, reduced to nothing more than a spectator.
He felt like a joke. A disgrace.
Not a god, but a fallen prince stripped of dignity.
Meanwhile, Alex kept an eye on Thor even while trading blows with the Destroyer.
He was deliberately flaunting his control over lightning, wanting to provoke Thor into waking up and reawakening the divine power locked deep within him.
Honestly, if it weren't for Thor, Alex would've finished the Destroyer by now.
There was no need to draw this out—except that he felt like he was putting on a show, trying to stir up the drama. All he used were his Thunder Fruit powers. Nothing more.
"I should've never agreed to Odin," Alex grumbled internally.
Still, a deal was a deal. He'd taken the payment—now he had to deliver.
If Thor remained this useless, Alex would just throw him into Hell's Kitchen and let the place whip him into shape. No backup, no help.
Alex didn't doubt Thor's strength—he'd survive. Probably.
But with that kind of headspace? He might end up scammed down to his underwear in Hell's Kitchen.
Thor, meanwhile, was drowning in despair.
He was too deep in his own head to notice anything around him. His eyes remained unfocused, staring into a void only he could see, as though the whole world had turned its back on him.
"Maybe I was born a mistake."
"Maybe I'm not worthy of being Asgard's prince."
"Maybe I don't deserve Mjolnir."
"Maybe I should just disappear."
Alex felt the sudden shift in Thor's energy and quickly turned to look.
Though Thor was still standing, his entire body seemed engulfed in a shadow of death.
Something was very wrong.
Alex didn't know exactly what was going on in Thor's head, but he could tell this wasn't just depression—this was the prelude to suicide.
All this because of one betrayal? One exile?
Come on.
If this were Hell's Kitchen, this would be nothing more than a Tuesday.
Losing your parents was practically an entry requirement there. Betrayal? That was just breakfast.
Thor clearly needed to train with the locals.
"Dammit, you're Thor!" Alex yelled. "Asgard still needs you! You gonna run away like a coward? You gonna be a deserter?!"
The words hit Thor like a hammer to the chest. His eyes blinked. Focus returned.
Light rekindled.
"I don't want to be a deserter! Father!!!" Thor roared.
The skies darkened instantly, thick clouds gathering as lightning danced across them.
Alex looked up. Thunder rumbled. Something powerful was brewing in the heavens.
Thor's divine power was returning.
Alex rolled his eyes. "Seriously? All it took was yelling 'father'? Nepo baby nonsense."
A massive bolt of lightning suddenly struck Thor from above.
In that instant, Thor became one with the storm. His aura erupted, surging to new heights.
Pieces of armor materialized, assembling themselves around him with a divine glow. Lightning crackled across his form.
He stood tall, majestic once again—the God of Thunder reborn.
Alex saw the fire return to Thor's eyes and understood immediately. He tossed Mjolnir without hesitation.
Thor caught it with ease, nodding in gratitude. "Thanks, brother. I'll handle it from here."
He launched into the air, Mjolnir spinning with force, and slammed it into the Destroyer's chest.
BOOM!
A system notification rang in Alex's mind.
"Congratulations, host. Thor Odinson's favorability has increased to three stars."
"Congratulations, host. Thor Odinson's favorability has increased to full stars."
"Thor Odinson has become your family."
"Current family members: 25/25."
"System upgrade initiating in: 24:00:00."
Alex sighed.
"That was way too easy. Simple people really are easy to win over."
Still, the mission was done. Now all he had to do was wait for the system to upgrade.
The rest? That was up to Thor.
Alex turned and walked over to Tony Stark, who was still observing from the sidelines.
He looked down at his reddened hands and muttered, "This damn hammer's hard as hell to use."
