Chapter 233 - Chapter 233 : Tony: Thor is a giant muscular boy who cries a lot?

"I saw you acting sneaky just now, so I followed you," Kaito Daiki said calmly as he walked up to Mjolnir, Thor's legendary hammer. His eyes glinted with curiosity and desire as he reached out, attempting to lift the artifact.

Loki's smirk remained faint, almost imperceptible—but inside, he was on high alert.

He hadn't expected his carefully crafted illusion to be seen through by a mortal, nor had he noticed Kaito's approach. That was a problem.

Loki glanced around. The other mortals nearby didn't seem to notice Kaito Daiki at all. Envy flashed in his eyes.

This man's stealth and illusion capabilities were exceptional—he could walk among crowds unnoticed. For someone like Loki, whose entire existence relied on trickery and deception, that was terrifying.

Exposure was the greatest danger Loki faced. His power, reputation, and identity were all built on lies. If even one person saw through them...

Though anxiety and suspicion churned in his chest, Loki kept his expression composed.

He took a steadying breath, forcing down the unease. But one thing was clear: this man posed a threat. A mortal who could see through the God of Mischief's illusions couldn't be allowed to live.

Loki had initially tolerated him because he seemed strong but manageable. Now? Loki would have to find a way to eliminate him—quietly, efficiently, permanently.

Meanwhile, Kaito gave Mjolnir another tug, only to find it utterly immovable.

He stared at it with reluctant admiration. He had collected countless powerful artifacts across countless worlds—but this one? This one wouldn't budge.

"To think that one day I, Kaito Daiki, would meet a treasure I couldn't steal…"

"Why have you been following me?" Loki asked, his brow furrowed. The irritation in his voice was thinly veiled. He wanted nothing more than to shake this pest and return to Asgard.

But Kaito showed no signs of leaving.

He shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm looking for a friend."

His gaze lingered on Loki, analyzing him with an almost scientific interest.

To Kaito, this strange, proud Asgardian prince was far more intriguing than any hammer. There was something familiar about Loki—something that resonated deep inside him.

"You actually have friends?" Loki asked, clearly surprised.

Kaito chuckled. "Why not? Don't you?"

There was a teasing edge to his voice, deliberate and provocative.

Loki went silent. The question hit harder than it should have.

He didn't have friends. He didn't want them. To him, friends were liabilities. They distracted, they complicated, they betrayed. In Loki's mind, trust was foolishness, and recognition was for the weak.

But Kaito wasn't done.

"Friends make life interesting. I didn't make mine easily, either. But once you do? They'll help you when it matters most."

He paused, then added, "When you ascend to the throne… who'll share that with you?"

Loki's expression darkened. The words touched a raw nerve.

"A god doesn't need friends."

Recognition? Companionship? That was for mortals. Loki had sacrificed everything—his family, his honor—for power. Friends were just illusions, easily broken.

"One day," Kaito said softly, his gaze drifting to the horizon, "you'll find someone worth giving everything for."

His voice was full of experience, almost mournful. It was clear he wasn't speaking hypothetically—he was remembering someone. Kadoya Tsukasa, perhaps.

"Impossible!" Loki snapped. "Utter nonsense. I don't even have friends, let alone would give up anything for them."

He laughed bitterly. "I could sacrifice my father. I did betray my brother. You think I'd give up power for a friend?"

Kaito only smiled.

The arrogance was a mask. He saw right through it.

Loki craved understanding more than he admitted. Everything he did—the trickery, the rebellion—was a cry for acknowledgment. Kaito had once been the same.

The louder they boasted they needed no one, the more desperately they longed to be seen.

Kaito recognized that mask. Because he used to wear it too.

Back in Manhattan, the professors at Hell's Kitchen Community College were abuzz.

When word got out that Alex Ray was planning to rescue the God of Thunder himself—Thor Odinson—everyone wanted in. Professors from all departments tried to volunteer, eager to witness the legend firsthand.

Alex stared at the crowd, exasperated. "I'm going to rescue someone, not organize a school field trip."

He rejected everyone. Everyone but one.

Tony Stark.

Because, of course, Tony Stark insisted. And because—also of course—Tony donated five million dollars to the school.

Tony arrived at Hell's Kitchen in his latest Iron Man suit, landing with characteristic flair.

"Is there really a mythical God of Thunder named Thor?" he asked the moment he saw Alex.

Alex sighed. "We're living in a multiverse. You've fought a purple alien with a rock collection. Why does Thor still surprise you?"

Tony nodded thoughtfully, stroking his chin.

"Fair point. Multiverse logic. Got it."

Then he grinned. "When we're done here, I've got to show you my latest masterpiece. It'll blow your mind."

His eyes sparkled with pride. He couldn't wait to show off.

The last prototype—the Anti-Hell Lord Armor—had been a failure. But Tony had gone back to the drawing board, retooled everything, and this time he was certain. He'd impress Alex for sure.

Alex raised an eyebrow, giving him a dry look. "Dreaming is fine. Delusion is dangerous. Focus on the Hell's Kitchen mess before your next cosplay debut."

The jab didn't faze Tony. If anything, it fueled his drive.

Alex opened a Sling Ring portal, and the two stepped through to the secure facility where Thor was imprisoned.

"Alex Ray? You're here?" Thor looked up from where he sat, eyes wide with disbelief.

After everything—banishment, capture, powerlessness—he hadn't expected anyone to come for him.

Tears welled up in the god's eyes.

Tony and Alex stared in silence.

"Uh…" Tony leaned closer to Alex, whispering. "So… this crying beefcake is Thor?"

Alex blinked.

"…Did we portal into the wrong room?"
