Chapter 226 - Chapter 226 : Hell's Kitchen Community College & Featured Courses

"Why is Alex Ray so famous on Midgard?" Thor raised an eyebrow in confusion as he asked Darcy Lewis, the busty young woman sitting across from him.

Darcy quickly swiped through her phone, found a photo, and handed it to Thor. "Look, is this him?"

Her eyes sparkled with excitement, clearly in awe of the man in the picture.

Thor took the phone and looked closely at the image.

It was a tall, stern-looking man.

"This photo..." Thor frowned. Although the Alex Ray in the image looked much like the man he knew, the silver hair threw him off.

The Alex Ray he remembered definitely had black hair.

"Yes, it's him!" Darcy said with certainty. "Even though his hair color is different, that's definitely Alex Ray—the Lord of Hell. This is a high-res picture of him saving Manhattan. He's so handsome!"

Thor handed the phone back and nodded. "The Alex Ray I know has black hair, but other than that, he looks exactly the same."

"You really know Alex Ray?" Darcy asked, almost squealing. "Then can you get me his autograph? I'm his biggest fan!"

Thor frowned, a bit annoyed. "What's so special about him? How about I give you my autograph instead? It's the first time I'm offering one to a mortal. You should feel honored."

Louis scoffed. "You? Know the Lord of Hell? You sound like a total fraud. Come on, Jane, let's not waste our time."

"Alright, alright," Jane Foster said, trying to keep the peace. "Let's just figure out how to contact Mr. Alex Ray."

"That's Alex Ray—the Lord of Hell—from Hell's Kitchen. Do you think someone like that has time for random people like us? And Hell's Kitchen isn't the kind of place regular folks can just waltz into. If we drag some lunatic in there, we'll probably get beaten to death before we even step foot inside," Louis muttered.

At that moment, two dusty miners walked into the restaurant.

"You hear? A satellite-looking hammer landed nearby. No one can lift it."

Thor's eyes lit up. He stood and clapped the miners on the shoulders. "Where is it?"

He already knew—it had to be Mjolnir. His lost hammer. His partner. His anchor.

"Fifty miles west," said a stocky miner.

Without hesitation, Thor walked out of the restaurant to retrieve what was rightfully his.

Hell's Kitchen

Alex Ray sipped his tea across from his father-in-law, Erik Lehnsherr—better known as Magneto—inside the academy lounge.

"I still can't wrap my head around how an old man like you became principal of this place," Alex said, raising an eyebrow.

Magneto took a slow sip. "If Charles can be a good principal, why can't I? Hell's Kitchen now has a small population of mutants. These kids are promising."

Alex sighed. He knew Magneto meant well, but his execution was... questionable.

"Is that why you added all these bizarre classes?" Alex asked, picking up a printed sheet from the table.

It listed new courses Magneto had introduced:

"One Hundred Ways to Evade the Federal Government"

"Martial Arts Meets Superpowers"

"Weaponry and Powers: A Synergistic Approach"

"How to Become a Great Villain in 2.5 Years"

"Three Years of Simulation, Five Years to Godhood"

"How Are Villains Made?"

"What Exactly Are Porn, Gambling, and Drugs?"

"The Self-Cultivation of a Gang Boss"

The more Alex read, the more furious he became. Finally, he threw the sheet down and glared at Magneto.

"Are these seriously high school courses? Are they going to be tested on this in college? You're raising criminals!"

Alex was furious. He had worked hard to give the youth of Hell's Kitchen a way out from the legacies of their criminal parents—and now Magneto was dragging them back into the abyss.

"Why would students need to learn this stuff? Colleges don't require coursework in crime or how to use powers illegally. What is this—an upgraded version of Hot-Blooded High School?"

Magneto remained calm. "These are Hell's Kitchen specialties. Local skills. If these kids can't get into college, at least they'll have practical talents to survive."

Alex stared at him in disbelief. The "practical talents" of Hell's Kitchen were mostly useful for landing in prison. Sure, meals were free there—but at what cost?

"So you're telling me they won't starve if they learn these skills?"

"And these are electives," Magneto added quickly. "They're not mandatory. They can choose not to take them."

He was entirely serious. In his mind, there was nothing wrong with preparing kids for life in a neighborhood like Hell's Kitchen. In fact, he saw it as giving them an edge.

Alex took a deep breath, trying to maintain composure.

"Okay then, explain this: why are firearms and close-combat courses mandatory? Why do they need to complete three of them?"

Magneto beamed.

"One pistol, one rifle, one sniper rifle. Basic skills. What's the problem? And combat techniques? Absolutely necessary. Hell's Kitchen isn't safe. These kids need to protect themselves.

Besides, we're never short on weapons. We've become the biggest arms supplier in the U.S."

He puffed up with pride and thumped his chest.

"And this is how we attract students from other schools. No one else offers these courses. Rich families pay five, even ten times the tuition just to enroll here.

The academy's growth? All thanks to my brilliant leadership."

Alex stared at him. Largest arms supplier in the country? That was news to him.

"Wait, back up. You're telling me Hell's Kitchen is the biggest arms dealer in the United States? How is that even possible? And why the hell haven't I heard about this?"

Magneto chuckled, patting Alex on the shoulder.

"You're out of the loop, Alex.

A bunch of arms tycoons came to Hell's Kitchen asking for protection. Plus, we already had a base for weapons here. The transition was natural."

He grinned wider. "And I played a big role in that. With my powers, it's child's play to assemble weaponry. Combine that with our network and manpower, and we're number one."

Then came the final blow.

"Of course, I did all this for Wanda. Consider it her dowry. You don't need to thank me."

Alex stared at him, stunned into silence.

He wasn't sure if this was a school... or a prison pipeline disguised as a university.

Or maybe both.

And he was definitely not thanking him.
