Chapter 3 - Sectors and Blank Souls

Back again to writing.

I made sure that the monster hunting me down lost me by using an item I got from a Blank Soul in Sector D. You're probably confused why I keep using terms such as "Sectors." Well that's because this world's civilization is weird. Or well, their previous civilization.

You probably noticed that around us are either three story buildings, skyscrapers, factories, train stations, docks, and even an endless forest. The buildings and technology is similar to our own, if you are from earth. If you were dragged from another version of earth, then this world would either seem like a future paradise or just ancient history.

I've tried digging into the history of this world by going to the various libraries of this world. But they were either looted by other groups or were destroyed long ago. There is no such thing as the internet here, so computers and what not are useless.

So getting information on is worth a lot of stuff. a

The only thing I have that is even close to information is a run down map I stole from the side of a building. Though a bit torn and messed up, it still shows its worth.

From what the map shows, we are in a small archipelago with the land we stand on being the giant main land and four small islands, three circling its edges and one in the center of it. From what I can guess, this land used to be a small nation of sorts based on how it was built.

They seperated the main land into four sectors from A to D. Each one having a different purpose. But to make a long story short.

Sector A focused on fishing and anything related to the sea. From having the most docks, being the biggest of fish markets, to even having an aquafarm. The last one I know since I went to Sector A out of boredom. Worst mistake of my life. Did you know monsters really love fish? Ha, I know since I basically went from easy mode to hell mode the moment I stepped into Sector A's vicinity. Thankfully, they seem to love fish so much that between humans, animals, and fish. They always choose fish. Shame that smelling like fish attracts monsters, otherwise I would have some on me to act as a distraction of sorts.

Sector B is basically housing of sorts. They have buildings so tall that they are quite literally skyscrapers. Each one not built for companies or even the rich, but just basic residents. Which to be honest quite shocked me, since it makes me wonder how many used to live here and where they went. But it really doesn't matter when you are being chased through the alleyways of said skyscraper.

Sector C is just a giant forest. That is basically it. No houses, no ports, no factories. Just the trees and wild animals. As if it was never touched by humans. But it's because of this that it is by far the safest Sectors. Since no humans are here, monsters tend to stay away from this Sector. Making it the perfect place to rest and relax.

Sector D is the most complex of the four since it is basically factories and mountains. The entire sector was just built to produce and that's it. They even have buildings meant to produce as well as support the living conditions for workers. The perfect place to get clothes, tools, and even weapons. Though said weapon's don't have much effect on monsters, they sure as hell work well against humans.

Now I'm going to step a bit and focus on something else I wrote and that is "Blank Souls." Now I don't really know if they are souls or not, but it matches with their appearance. They have a white wisp-like form that has a human shape. Their bodies are blowing like white flames against the wind. And those hollow blank faces that just stare at your soul.

Calling them Blank Souls matches their appearance. But don't let their otherworldly appearance scare you. They are quite peaceful even when attacked, since any attack just passes through their bodies. Even monsters ignore them.

But them being one of the few peaceful beings in the Blank isn't why I speak of them. You see, they have a very nice function. When you approach them, they will first look at you, extend their hand out, and produce an item from their palm. This item can appear as various things from clothes, utensils, working tools, to even weapons. But what makes these tools unique is their ability.

Yup you read right. Each item produced from these Blank Souls have a unique ability that actually matches their appearance. You can receive a fork that has the ability to enlarge itself to the height of a human. A pair of shoes that allow you to run at speeds comparable to that of the fastest living creature. A gun that has infinite ammo. A sword that has the ability to cut anything no matter what it is or how hard it is. Best of all, if you have these items you are able to harm the monsters of this world. Though I still recommend running away if you can.

Sadly you can't use Blank Spirits over and over again, since they disappear the moment you grab the item. And even if you do refuse the item, they will still disappear with said item. So you are still forced to grab the item. Also unlike the superpowers we get from a month, we are actually told what the item does by reading the text that appears on the Blank Souls face.

Reading my journal back and realized I never explained powers well. So allow me to do so now. Yes, you will gain powers that either match you or not. But you actually will have no clue what it is or how to activate it. Only through time and curiosity can you actually discover your power.

Hell, it took me a good two or three days to figure out my power. And that was only because I was cornered by some thugs trying to steal my items and wanting to disappear. Which activated my power and allowed me to run away.

So if I had to choose between my powers and items from Blank Souls, I would choose Blank Souls since they are by far useful. So when you come across these beings, try to hoard as many of them as you can.

Right, you probably found my corpse and saw my items. Having no clue what to do with them or how to use them, so allow me to explain. Right now I have five items on me.

The first is my famous Gas Mask, you know the one that looks like a World War version of it. It allows me to be able to see through any foggy obstructions and allows me to be immune to any harm caused by inhaling the air.

The second is a pair of sleek gloves that have some red strings holding the seams together. It has the ability to create a shove-like force of various degrees. Ranging from blowing a small gust to being able to shoot a full on beam of force able to crack a stone wall. To use this you have to do a palm strike and how big the push is depends on the force you put into the strike.

The third is a white button, with a red dot at the center of it, that I can put on my shirt. It allows me to pass through materials. This applies to walls, the floor, and even some attacks that harm the physical realm. Saying the physical realm since I know there are items and powers that can attack you mentally or even spiritually. Of course to use it you just tap the red dot and it activates. Of course if you are afraid of not being able to interact with the button once it is activated, you don't have to worry. The effect applies to things outside your body or not touching it. Since the button is touching your body, or the clothes that are touching the body, it still activates. Or at least that is what I think the range is. Probably should explore it more.

The fourth item is a black whistle you would give to little kids. When you blow into it, it creates a high pitch noise that really hurts to listen to. Not only that, but it also attracts the attention of nearby monsters, the range increasing the stronger and longer you blow into the whistle. By the way, this is the one I used to get away from my stalker. You know, just attracted nearby monsters to be used as a distraction before I got away.

The fifth item pair of green wrist bands that have the words "Heal" and "Block" written on them. On my left is the one that has Heal and on the other it has the word Block. These wristbands have the ability to either heal your body over time depending on the damage or the ability to create an invisible force that will block any attacks that aren't too strong. The limit being attacks that can easily shatter walls and such. The size of this invisible force and where it will appear is automatic, but try to dodge if you can since it has limits.

That is about it. There is nothing else to really write about.

I have to go now.

A person could be seen sitting against an old wall. Their face covered by a gas mask and appear to be wearing some sort of jacket meant for the cold. It looks like it was made of light brown leather with cuts and holes on its surface. Underneath the jacket was a plain white shirt that had a white button with a red dot on the center of it. They matched it with blue pants and brown work shoes you would see on an office worker. On both their hands were a pair of black gloves with red strings connecting the hems together and a pair of green wrist bands. The one on the left saying Heal and the right saying Block.

The person was currently writing in a leather back journal using a simple pencil that you would use for school. The person stopped writing for a bit before sighing out. He wrote a bit more into the journal before placing the pencil inside the journal and closed it shut.

"I thank you for not interrupting me while I write," the person said as he looked up. He looked out of the room's window in a pair of orange eyes that stared back at him. The person placed the book onto the ground as they stood up and patted themself down.

"You know, I really should run away from you. But I have the feeling that you have an ability to track me down no matter where I go" the person said as they took a striking pose as they slowly pulled back their right arm and made a palm.

"So why not give killing a monster a try" the person said as they did a palm strike.
