Chapter 48 - the start

It has been an entire month since my peasant master and Ravina have started training under the police force trainer of Vyomsetu. His name was — Soktomanus, I guess.

He is strict, very!

Up until now, he's been sending Shyam to the mountains, or places with danger, just so that he can get used to those places.

Ravina didn't have it any softer either, she too had intense reflex training and flexibility. Her muscles have grown quite a bit. So has Shyam's!

Not to mention, Soktomanus has been draining Shyam's stamina like a crazy slut — from running to sword training, nothing is off the chart.

At this rate, he might actually become superhuman!

Though even that would be considered one of the weakest once he gets out of Nisc— opsie, almost revealed a spoiler!

During the free time Shyam got in between trainings, he would read books — the ones he got from the library.

I just mostly slept through the entire phase as I am strong already, yahaha!

But I did train myself to be in my human-form longer, though my fairy form looks way better. It's cuter! But it has no hair, I hate it.

Just a normal day, as it began.

He woke up, freshened up, and appeared at the training ground. But there was no one there.

Except Ravina.

"He's late today," Shyam said as he scanned through the entire place.

"At least I can rest longer," Ravina whispered as she sat down on the ground barefoot.

"Slacker," he exhaled as he sat down on the ground himself.

In the past one month, he's been reading a lot about this world, not just that but the morality and cultures.

The range is wide.

Although being so small and rankless, this city does not have all the information about this world.

That being said, he also found out that as an Assistant Pathforger he will have access to the first floor of the Pathforger group, the floor for the Assistant Pathforgers.

But where to find this group wasn't written in any of the books.

Suddenly, the clouds started to form up out of nowhere, as if they were ordered to.

"That's weird," Ravina whispered, staring at it widely as if even she was surprised by the appearance of such clouds.

If even she, a citizen of this world, thinks it is weird for clouds to appear now, this must mean something is off.

During the days of the training, Soktomanus would often tell them about how powerful Sagar is — his styles and his art, he is just so perfect with them.

His movements are almost flawless to the eyes of even the guild master.

And, most of all, he chose the Hydra path as well, which is extremely scary.

Not because he was perfect at it, but because Hydra wasn't a normal path, it was the root of the Water path.

If one's Water energy is too good, they automatically trigger Hydra path, which mostly would appear similar to Water path, its names and all, but its power is greater.

A Hydra path fighter will need denser energy, more than a normal fighter, but the energy they gather will be pure and long-lasting.

Same with fire and heat — its root is flame. And for stone it's root was earth, wind path's root was gas and so on..

Anyone who has mastered their path to the finest, to whichever tier they are in, can unlock the higher tier of that path. Many dream to do it, Shyam did it accidentally.

Come to think of it, he could only gather information on the few well-known elemental paths, but Ravina, she used an entirely different path. It was called Love path or something.

She said Love path was the root of the Feelings path, which one can obtain if they can feel all the feelings at once.

It's all really confusing right now, but I am sure he'll understand it someday.

He was too driven into his thoughts to notice his environment when suddenly a bold lightning struck just near the city centre.

A loud noise echoed all through the mountain as groups of birds fled bepass him.

Groups of beasts ascended the mountains — it was a rampage of beasts swirling through the rising sun. For one moment, it looked like an action anime.

"What the actual fuck is happening there?"

Ravina muttered as her eyes became wide. For her, it was a nightmare. She had never in her lifetime seen so many beasts attack a single city at once.

Even though she was now a Tier Two expert, she could never hope to defeat these beasts.

From just a small level sixty ant to level forty Goblins — not just one, nor ten, nor a single hundred. There were thousands of them approaching Vyomsetu at an unimaginable speed.

Suddenly, Shyam's cloak — the one Ashima gave him — started to glow orange. It wrapped around him like a protective barrier. A skill activation system window appeared before him that flickered only for a moment.

[Auto ability used / Protective Cloak]

"Well, I didn't do all this training for nothing, right?" Shyam whispered as he took a step forward towards the Adventurers Guild.

Although it was selfishly dangerous to even stand before the descending beasts, he still had no option but to fight. After all, he'd promised Ravina that he would become an A-rank adventurer when they meet again. This will be one more step closer to their promise.

Without a flinch of thought, Ravina followed him. She had almost become his never-leaving wife from the moment he helped her level up two steps at once. She was more than grateful to him for doing so — not so much to risk her life yet, but she could at least help him defeat those things.

The beasts were just a little far from the city, and the defence formation was still somehow holding back the small, little beasts. It wouldn't be long before they slipped through the gaps and started rumbling, so the guild would have to act fast.

He ran until his last breath. There was no one in the city, probably inside the houses. "Good, they have brains," he whispered.

About a few seconds after leaving the training ground, there was a massive field packed with people. Some had swords, some had spears, while some had no weapon at all.

At the front stood a man, glorious, sharp gaze glimmering with revenge. He looked like someone who would die for their nation if it meant victory.

It was the guild master.

Shyam quickly made his way to Tithira as Tithira's speech trembled the feet of those who felt fear.

"It is a war we cannot avoid," he spoke.

"Thus we must defeat Sagar and free us all from this great tragedy. Come my soldiers, rage upon him and be my defenders!"

He looked nothing like the man Shyam saw after waking up a month ago. His face, posture, and even his movements had become sharper.

"What is going on, guild master?" Shyam asked quietly as he stood near him.

"Ah, Shyam, you have arrived," the guild master breathed as he lowered his voice. From the glorious leader to an old man with an incurable illness.

It was much surprising that even in this state he could still shout — a shout so loud the entire city trembled.

"I have gathered nearly all the adventurers available currently. I'll lead them to defeat the rampage, you should focus on Sagar," the guild master said as a few drops of blood fell to the ground along with his coughs.

"Are you alright?" Shyam asked in concern.

"Don't worry about me, I still have years to waste. But it's only you who can beat him, only you!" He coughed again and again.

"How come he is the only one who can do it!"

A dark room with almost no light to speak of, two men argued with absolute silence, as if they were two gentlemen.

"Do you really want to know?"

The other man hissed.

"Then listen," he murmured.

"He has the ways of Hydra Grimoire."

A big exhale.

"Wait..."

"You don't mean!"

"Yes, that's exactly right."

"But that means..."

"Yes, that's... exactly right."

"Golakar... He is back!"
