Adam's mood soured the second he saw Natalia standing in his foyer with a bright smile, her arms full of grocery bags like she belonged here—was the last person he wanted to deal with this morning.
"What are you doing here, Natalia?" His voice was calm, but it carried a steel edge.
"Well..." She let out that soft, calculated laugh she'd perfected over the years. "I called your office, and Laila told me you didn't go in today. So I thought... why not spend the day with you?" Her tone dripped with a sweetness that felt artificial, her gaze expectant—as though he'd be flattered.
He wasn't.
Adam stepped forward, taking the bags from her hands before she could catch the irritation flickering in his eyes. He carried them into the kitchen, setting them down with a dull thud. His mind was already calculating how to get her out of here before she even caught a glimpse of Sofia.
"I didn't go to the office," he said evenly, "because I needed to inspect a site before the property approval."
