The mermaid queen pointed at the small fish. She burst out in laughter. Shin looked at Bael with a confused look, a contrast to the determined look on Bael's face.
The queen, still laughing," and what is this tiny critter going to do to me?"
Bael grinned," I'm glad you asked."
"Gear 2."
The fish's cheeks puffed up. The mermaid queen stared at it confused. A huge burst of black water shot out of the fish's mouth, blowing the queen away.
The mermaids rushed at the pair. Just as they got close an air bubble formed around them.
Bael swung his sword and beheaded the mermaids.
"Ok Finn, let's get giggy with it," Bael said as he gestured at the fish.
Just as the mermaid queen got her balance back. Before she could last her rage settle, shock took the wheel instead.
Before the queen was a whole school of black fish.
"Try me small fry," the swung her trident.
With a large a gust if water she blew the fish aside. One remained and stood before. The mermaid queen scoffed.
The fish charged at her as it turned into a giant great white shark. It opened its jaws at the queen.
She dodged to attack and swam away but the fish caught up with her with surprising quickness and agility.
When the queen looked back she was shocked saw a whole pack of great white Sharks behind her.
Each moved with coordinated military precision. The queen smiled and stopped to a hault.
The sharks stopped and surrounded her.
Well well well. You were holding out on me landweller.
The mermaid queen spun her trident. The currents pulled the sharks and the remaining mermaids into a whirl pool created by the mermaid queen.
The whirl pool tore up everything within it. Shin and Bael survived using the air bubble.
The queen stared at Bael, grinning wildly. Bael grinned back.
Fuck yeah this is what I live for.
Bael summoned another small fish in his hands.
"Hey Finn. Could you drag her to the bottom of the lake for me," Bael said in a cutsy voice.
The fish wiggled in the air the swam out of the air bubble. It rode the water current and just as it got near it turned into an orca whale.
The mermaid queen stopped spinning her trident. She was caught off guard as the orca whale chopped down on her and swam back to the bottom of the lake.
The other sharks that survived the whirl pool swam down with the orca whale.
Bael looked at Shin," to the surface please."
Shin smiled and nodded. They shot upwards and broke through the surface of the lake. The landed near their campsite.
They were tired, soaked and drained but ultimately made it out alive. They walked back to their campsite and change clothing then started packing up.
"Are you sure we shouldn't be trying to get help?" Shin asked as he tied up the remaining bag.
"Yes but we should be fine. Finn should be able to hold her down just long enough for us to get to a safe distance plus I can take her," Bael answered confidently.
"Luckily we are on land then. She can't do much without access to water," Shin added.
The two then sat down looking at the lake, taking some time to process what happened.
