Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – What the Hell is This Place?

Wait… why is everything black?

I can't see anything right now…

Well, I did just die, so I guess it makes sense. But then it hit me—

If I'm dead, how the hell am I still thinking?

That's when I realized I'd just asked the dumbest question in the universe.

And also—why does my body feel… weird?

Like something sticky is all over me. Wet. Slimy.

I didn't get much time to think about it, because something suddenly touched me.

W-Whoaaa… what the hell was that?!

Did something—or someone—just touch me?

Wait, is this the afterlife? Is this where they torture people for eternity? Covered in slime while invisible hands poke and prod you?

Weirdly… it wasn't that bad. Almost ticklish. Gave me goosebumps.

But it didn't stop there.

Whatever that was… touched me again.

This time, it didn't move away. It just stayed there. Pressed against me.

I was freaking out. Just a while ago I was alive, chilling at home, gaming, eating junk food. And now I'm in some sticky, slimy darkness with things touching me.

I tried to move my arms… nothing. Tried to kick… nope. Not even my head would budge.

But the touching kept going. Sometimes my head. Sometimes my legs.

I had no idea how long I was in there. Days? Weeks?

But today… something changed.

Today, I was finally able to move a little. Just a twitch—but it was something.

My thoughts were clearer, too. Like my brain had rebooted.

And that's when I made a terrifying discovery:

I don't have hands.

No fingers. No thumbs.

Instead… I have paws.

Like a dog. Or a cat.

My stomach dropped. What the actual hell is happening to me?

Did I get reincarnated as some slimy cave creature? Some freaky animal that lives in gross puddles and touches other creatures for fun?

This had to be hell.

I couldn't see anything. Only feel. And every now and then, one of those weird paw-things would bump into me again.

I couldn't even tell what I was or what they were. Just shapes in the dark. No eyes. No voices.

But today… something was different.

One of them—the one that touched me the most—hadn't touched me at all.

Strange, I thought.

Then, finally… I saw light.

A tiny glow. Faint. Blurry.

But to me, it was like seeing heaven.

I'm free! Finally!

I thought I was about to be reborn. Or maybe move on to the afterlife. Maybe this was my second chance.

But reality had other plans.

With a loud thump, something yanked me forward, and I landed on what felt like a wooden floor.

I blinked against the sudden brightness, my vision still foggy… but getting clearer.

And what I saw made me want to scream.

No. Made me piss myself.

Standing in front of me were two wolves. One brown and fluffy, the other white with black streaks. Both huge. Both… staring right at me.

The brown one—definitely the mama—had just dropped me onto the floor like I was her grocery bag. The white one—probably the papa—looked down at me with those wild yellow eyes.

And then I saw them.

Six other little wolf pups, crawling around nearby. Some white, some brown, a few mixed.

Wait… does that mean…

I looked at them. Then at myself. I couldn't see a mirror, but judging by the paws, the fur, and the way mama wolf was treating me—

I was one of them.

I'd been reborn as a wolf pup.

Those weeks in the slimy, dark place?

I was inside the womb.

Inside a goddamn wolf's belly.

The realization hit me like a truck.

No. No. No. No. No. NO!

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I screamed inside my head.

But to the wolves? I was just a cute little baby howling in joy.

They looked down at me, tails wagging.

And I?

I was a human-turned-wolf, reborn into a world I didn't understand… covered in fur… and absolutely losing my mind.
