Chapter 3 - Hearthwood

After his fight against the wolves, Kai felt powerful. Not because he was, but because a normal human would have most likely died from this encounter.

Using his abilities, he stored the wolves in his inventory, a subspace only he could access.

"That's so fucking cool. I'm literally a walking storage unit. And speaking of being a unit." He examined his body, his newly built body. Back on Earth, Kai was no slouch when it came to looks and having a great body.

He was built, muscular, tall, and very attractive. But his new body took all of that and cranked it up to 11. He was around 6'5 and his body was twice his size back on Earth. While he wasn't a bodybuilder size, or even the size of an avid gym nut, he was still big.

"And this guy right here is the best out of all that." He said, looking at his member that was 10 inches in length with insane but reasonable girth.

"A fucking woman destroyer right here, haha!"

Kai continued to press forward, fighting off any wild animal that came his way and occasionally drinking river water even though he didn't need to.

Because of his perfect body, he didn't need to fear getting sick, so he could eat and drink to his heart's content.

And finally, after wandering for three hours, he finally found a town in the distance. There were people walking and carriages riding in and out of the place. Walls, taller than the eye could see, surrounded the place, most likely to keep monsters out in case of an outbreak.

"Bout time." He said, munching on berries that were poisonous.

As he got closer, he could feel himself getting more and more excited. He had always dreamed of this life, and now, it's within his grasp. He wouldn't let anyone get in the way of the life he wanted to live.

"Hey, you, are you lost, pal?" A voice called out from the distance.

Locating the voice, Kai spotted two men, one who appeared to be in his mid to late thirties, and another in their late teens to early twenties. Both had blonde hair and blue eyes and were holding weapons with a few rabbits in their possession that happened to have horns on their head.

'Father and son hunters?' Kai thought immediately

"Yeah, I'm lost. I grew up away from society, in the mountains, and my father told me to find the nearest town so I could start working. Can you help me out?" Kai asked, secretly plotting his next move.

"Hmm, you look suspicious." The man said, not caring if Kai was some sort of villain.

"Father, look at him, he's wounded." The boy pointed out.

"Oh shit! Are you okay, pal?"

Kai was about to respond, saying that he was, but then a thought came into his head.

"Yeah, I'm ok-" He fell flat on his face.

"Woah! George, help me pick him up!" The father and son scurried over to Kai, helping him up against a tree.

"He lost a lot of blood," George said

"How is he still alive?"

"E-Excuse me, sirs?" Kai spoke as if he were in pain.

"Yeah, what is it, pal?"

Kai stuck his hand out with the intent of taking control of their minds. Only visible to him, his eyes flashed red, and a wave of purple energy entered their bodies.

But before anything happened, a pink energy appeared around George and his father's body, and a message popped up on Kai's status window.

[Hypnosis colors

Pink - Dumb as a rock. Go crazy

Orange - Try to earn their trust first

Red - Don't even try it, they'll know you're full of shit

Black - Are you stupid?! Do you want to die?!

*Colors can change due to certain factors such as stress or determination.*]

'Woah, that's good to know. Now I can move accordingly without making any drastic mistakes.'

"Because you are worried about me and don't want me to die, you'll help me out, give me some money to make it on my own, and tell me about this land. If anyone asks who I am, you'll tell them that I'm a fellow hunter who could use some guidance." With the intent to imprint that suggestion in their minds, Kai released his control over them, and the new memory formed in their heads.

"Why don't you come with us to our inn? We'll be able to help you out there." Paul offered, helping Kai to his feet.

It was subtle, but Kai had a wicked smile on his face. The rush of using his hypnosis for the first time was a feeling he wouldn't forget. "I'll be in your care."

The three of them headed toward the Town gates, where they had to wait in a line since hundreds of people were entering and exiting for whatever business they had going on.

"While we wait, can you tell me about this place?" Kai asked, placing his hands behind his head.

"Of course. This town is called Hearthwood. It's a town known for its trading and merchants. But that's only a small reason, the real reason why people come here is because it's the central hub for hunter and adventurer work in this area." Paul said, patting himself on the chest as he took pride in being a hunter.

"Hunting and Adventuring?" Kai asked

"That's right." George slapped Kai on the arm. "Surely you've come across some monsters during your travels."

"No, not really. All I did was work out, eat, and sleep. Oh, I also attended a farm." While this was a lie, Kai did know how to manage a garden and farm. His grandparents owned one, and he loved helping them.

Paul and George were shocked. They couldn't believe that a man who lived in the mountains and journeyed all the way to Hearthwood had never come across a monster, not even a goblin.

Paul patted Kai's shoulder. "Well, I guess this world is full of surprises. No worries, we'll help you out as much as you need during our stay here. Come, we're next up."
