Chapter 7 - The Search

Ava's Pov,

I smiled warmly as Matt's eyes fluttered open, I introduced myself. "Hey, I'm Ava. I've been taking care of you for the past few days. How are you feeling?"

Matt looked around, taking in his surroundings, I could see the confusion and disorientation in his eyes. I quickly moved to reassure him. "You're safe here. You've been resting for a while, I think you need to eat something. Let me get you some soup."

I brought over a steaming bowl of soup and helped Matt sit up, supporting his back with pillows. He ate slowly, savoring each bite, I could see the strength returning to his eyes.

When he finished, I took the bowl away and smiled at him. "Get some rest, okay? You've been through a lot. I'll be here if you need anything."

Matt nodded, his eyes already drooping, and I gently pushed him back onto the pillows. As he drifted off to sleep, I couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness towards this mysterious stranger. Who was he, really? And what had happened to him?

Matt's Pov,

As I lay back on the pillows, Ava's soothing voice lingered in my mind. She was amazing, caring for me with a kindness and gentleness that I hadn't experienced in a long time. I felt a sense of gratitude towards her, and maybe even something more.

Her touch was gentle as she tucked the blankets around me, and I couldn't help but notice the warmth of her hand on my skin. I felt a flutter in my chest, and for a moment, I forgot about the chaos of my life.

As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't shake the feeling that Ava was someone special. Her compassion and empathy were genuine, and I felt like I could trust her. But could I really trust anyone? My secrets, my transformations, my struggles could I keep them hidden from her?

Despite my doubts, I felt a sense of peace wash over me as I slept, knowing that Ava was watching over me. And maybe, just maybe, I could let my guard down around her...

Caleb's frustration grew as he surveyed the territory, his pack gathered around him. Two full moon nights had passed since Matt's disappearance, despite their best efforts, they still hadn't found any sign of him.

"Split up and search again," Caleb ordered, his voice firm but laced with concern. "We need to find Matt. He's been gone too long."

The pack dispersed, each member following a different trail, sniffing the air for any hint of Matt's scent. Caleb led the search, his senses on high alert, but every lead seemed to end in a dead-end.

As the sun began to set, Caleb called the pack back together. "We need to think this through," he said, his brow furrowed. "Matt's not just any werewolf. He's our friend, our brother. We have to find him before it's too late."

The pack nodded in agreement, determination etched on their faces. They would find Matt, no matter what it took. But as they continued their search, a sense of unease settled over them. What if Matt had lost control completely? What if he was hurt, or worse? The questions hung in the air, unspoken, but Caleb knew they had to be prepared for anything.

Caleb's Pov,

I rubbed my temples, trying to ward off the growing headache. Matt was missing, I had no idea where he was.

I replayed the events in my mind, trying to piece together the clues. The full moon was rising, and Matt had been struggling to control his transformations. Had he lost control on the field? Had he hurt someone?

My worry for Matt grew with each passing minute. As his brother and his alpha, I felt responsible for his safety. I had to find him, make sure he was okay. But where do I even start looking?

I decided to talk to the other pack members, see if anyone had any leads. Maybe someone had seen or heard something that could give us a clue about Matt's whereabouts. Together, we could find him and bring him home safely.

Matt's Pov ,

I opened my eyes to find Ava's beautiful face staring right back at me, a gentle smile on her lips. Without thinking, I smiled back at her, feeling a sense of warmth and connection that I couldn't explain.

For a moment, we just looked at each other, the air between us filled with a soft, quiet understanding. I felt like I'd known Ava for years, not just a few days. There was something about her that put me at ease, something that made me feel like I could trust her.

As I gazed into her eyes, I felt my smile grow wider, and I couldn't help but wonder why I was feeling this way. Was it the kindness she'd shown me? The care she'd taken of me? Whatever it was, I couldn't deny the connection I felt to her. And as we locked eyes, I felt like I was seeing her for the first time, really seeing her, and it was like a punch to the gut.

So what's your name and where are you from ?? .

how did you end up naked in the woods ?.

Ava asked Matt...

"I'm Matt," I said, trying to sound casual despite the scrutiny. "I'm from...around here, I guess. I don't really have a specific place to call home."

Ava's eyes sparkled with curiosity, but she didn't press the issue about my lack of a specific hometown. Instead, she nodded and said, "Okay, Matt. Nice to officially meet you."

However, she didn't ask follow-up questions about how I ended up naked in the woods, which was a relief. I wasn't ready to share that part of my story with her, not yet. I appreciated her tact, and we sat there in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying each other's company.

As we chatted, I realized that Ava was easy to talk to, and I found myself opening up to her in ways I hadn't expected. But the secrets I kept hidden, the ones about my transformations and the supernatural world I inhabited, those were still locked away, hidden behind a mask of normalcy.

Zephyr's Pov,

I followed the scent, my nose twitching as I picked up Caleb's brother's trail. It led me to this place, a gruesome scene of death and decay. The rest of the pack gathered around, their faces grim as they took in the sight of the dead bodies.

We worked together to bury the bodies and clear the evidence, our movements swift and efficient. As we finished up, I caught a whiff of something familiar - Matt's scent. It was faint, but unmistakable.

"Caleb, I think I found something," I said, my voice low and urgent. "Matt's scent is here. It's weak, but it's definitely him."

Caleb's eyes locked onto mine, a mix of hope and concern etched on his face. "Where did it lead?" he asked, his voice tight with anticipation.

I nodded, following the scent trail. "Let's see where it takes us."

Ava's Pov

As Matt and I spent more time together, the connection between us grew stronger. We laughed, shared stories, and explored the world around us. With each passing moment, I felt drawn to him in a way that was both exhilarating and terrifying.

But Matt's expression would sometimes falter, his eyes clouding over as if he was haunted by something. I sensed that he was holding back, that there were secrets he wasn't sharing with me.

I couldn't shake the feeling that Matt was torn between his growing feelings for me and some unknown obligation or loyalty, whatever they were, seemed to be weighing heavily on his mind, creating a tension between us that I couldn't quite understand.

Despite the uncertainty, our connection continued to deepen, I found myself wondering if we could overcome whatever obstacles lay ahead. But for now, the unknown rules and secrets hung in the air, a silent challenge to our budding relationship.

I couldn't help myself, staring right at Matt's handsome face, my heart racing with desire. I wanted a kiss from him, and I wanted it now. He seemed like a noble guy, I could sense that he was holding back, and it only made me more curious.

Without thinking, I leaned towards him, my lips brushing against his in a gentle kiss. that spark of touch ignited something fierce in both of us. Matt's hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer as his breath grew more intense.

We lost ourselves in the moment, our lips locking repeatedly as we deepened the kiss. His touch sent shivers down my spine, every nerve in my body coming alive as he caressed me. It was like the world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, lost in this passionate moment.that was when I heard a knock on the door..

The knock at the door was like a sudden splash of cold water, breaking the intimate atmosphere we'd created. I reluctantly pulled away from Matt, feeling a bit disoriented. As I stood up to answer the door, I couldn't bring myself to look at him right away, my cheeks still flushed from our passionate moment.

I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself as I made my way to the door. Who could it be? And more importantly, how would Matt react to the interruption? I pushed aside those thoughts and focused on opening the door, wondering what lay on the other side.
