Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Whose Fitness Equipment Is Measured in Tons?! Powerful Bioelectricity!

The startling burst of electricity from Little Spider-Man had been no ordinary jolt. A bright arc of lightning tore through the air, blasting straight toward Kurt. The discharge didn't even need to make contact—the voltage was so intense that the surrounding air instantly ionized and exploded, creating a concussive force that sent the poor researcher flying down the hallway.

Nathan stood frozen, jaw slack, still processing what just happened.

He had seen strange things in this world—mutants, gamma-powered behemoths, alien gods—but this? A tiny spider unleashing enough electricity to detonate air? This defied even his expectations.

"What the hell did I create...?"

He glanced down at his chest pocket. Little Spider-Man was already diving back inside, its trembling legs tugging at the fabric as it sought refuge. The edge of Nathan's shirt pocket was scorched black, the material frayed from the residual energy.

"Great. That was my favorite hoodie," he muttered, brushing the burned fabric.

Ahead of him, Kurt groaned from the floor, his limbs twitching. He looked like a man hit by a taser-wielding god.

Kurt's hand trembled as he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small glass vial of pale green liquid. Without hesitation, he downed it in one gulp.

Almost immediately, a warmth spread across his body, and the visible pain on his face started to ease. His expression softened as if a heating pad had been wrapped around his nervous system.

Nathan squinted. "What was that? Painkiller?"

Kurt, still dazed, gave a shaky nod. "Actually... internal wound recovery serum. One of the two new products we've been developing, boss."

He stood—wobbly, but functional—and managed a proud grin. "We've done it! Osborn's first breakthrough!"

Nathan's eyes lit up. This was what he'd been waiting for. A flagship product. Proof that the company was no longer a hollow name but an emerging scientific power.

Kurt continued, more animated now. "Two kinds! One is external, great for bandages or powdered treatment. The other is internal, stabilizing injuries, reducing trauma, speeding up cell regeneration."

"I take it you've applied for a patent?"

"Already done. Expedited. Should be approved any day now."

Pride radiated off Kurt like heat waves. His posture was no longer hunched, his voice no longer hesitant. This wasn't the broken man obsessed with fixing his own injuries anymore—this was a man reborn with purpose.

Nathan smiled. "You've done well."

He stepped forward instinctively, hand raised to clap Kurt's shoulder in praise.

But Kurt panicked, flinching backward. "W-Wait, boss! Please don't touch me! I'm traumatized!"

Nathan blinked. "Seriously?"

"Your spider. The explosion. I think I have PTSD now."

Kurt then peeked nervously at Nathan's chest pocket. "Sir... that thing in your pocket... was that a real spider?"

Nathan nodded. "Mutated. I didn't expect it to have electrical powers, either."

Kurt's expression contorted into awe and disbelief. "Sir... you just gave a spider the power to explode air molecules! That's not bioengineering. That's borderline godhood!"

"I thought it was a robot! You know, like an electric spider-drone or something. But it's alive?!"

He looked terrified... but fascinated. "Could I see it again?"

Nathan sighed and patted the pocket. "Come out."

Little Spider-Man cautiously emerged, its eyes blinking with a mechanical shimmer. It perched on Nathan's shoulder, peering down at Kurt.

Kurt stared in awe. "So small... yet it packs enough voltage to cook a human steak... Sir, you're not just a genius. You're... like a creator."

"I wouldn't be surprised if you end up blowing up a planet one day."

Nathan chuckled. "Let's not do that."

Little Spider-Man, perhaps embarrassed, quickly crawled back into the pocket.

"Looks like it doesn't like attention," Nathan noted. "Anyway, I need the lab now."

Before he left, Nathan handed Kurt a sealed folder.

"Inside are designs for new training equipment. I need them built, quickly, and secretly."

"Secretly?" Kurt tilted his head.

"Outsource parts to different departments. Have different people assemble them without knowing what they're making. Compartmentalize everything."

Kurt nodded, curious. "It's just exercise gear, though. Why the cloak-and-dagger treatment?"

Nathan didn't answer.

Kurt shrugged and opened the folder.

Seconds later, his jaw hit the floor.

"Magnetic barbells... adjustable range from 10 tons to 30 tons?!"

"Gravity-enhanced squat rack... 10 to 30 tons?!"

He looked up in horror. "WHAT KIND OF WORKOUTS ARE YOU DOING, BOSS?!"

"Most people work with kilograms! You're tossing around tons like paperweights!"

He pulled at his hair. "Is this... for Hulk?!"

Nathan smirked, walking away. "Confidentiality, Kurt."

"Psychological shadows, you said?" Kurt muttered. "I'm getting them by the minute!"

Still, a promise was a promise.

Kurt ran off to the equipment department. "Get everyone on the clock. Lock the doors. Nobody leaves till it's done."

---

Meanwhile, Nathan entered the secure testing lab.

He activated the full lockdown and disabled the security cameras.

"Alright," he said to his pocket. "Come out. Time to test what you're capable of."

Little Spider-Man emerged with a bounce, landing on the cold floor tiles.

"First test: strength."

Nathan gestured to a superfiber-wrapped alloy sandbag, used for simulating impact resistance.

"Go all out. Show me what you've got."

Little Spider-Man nodded and bolted forward—legs moving in a blur, like a black blur darting across steel.

It leapt up and slammed full force into the bag.

BOOM!

The bag rattled violently. The impact sent shockwaves through the floor.

Nathan turned to the digital display on the testing screen.

"1,002 kilograms."

"Over a ton. From a creature the size of a mouse."

He whistled, impressed. "You've got tiger strength in a tiny body."

Little Spider-Man strutted back, tail raised in pride.

"Show-off," Nathan said, grinning.

"Next: speed test."

He led it to the short-track lane equipped with motion sensors and timers.

"Ready... go!"

Whoosh! The creature shot forward like a bullet, hitting max velocity within milliseconds.

The monitor beeped: "Speed: 70 km/h."

"Faster than most sports cars in urban traffic," Nathan observed. "You're basically a four-legged Ferrari."

Then came the final and most dangerous test: bioelectric output.

Nathan set up a conductive iron rod connected to a high-voltage measuring rig.

He also activated the cellular scanner to observe real-time energy movement inside the subject's body.

"Alright, zap the rod. Let's see the numbers."

Little Spider-Man's body began to hum. Tiny arcs of electricity danced across its legs and fangs.

With a focused growl, it released the current.

CRACK—BOOM!

Lightning struck the rod, surging into the testing machine. Data exploded onto the screen.

"Voltage: 50,000 volts."

Nathan stood silent. That was half the power of a full-size Pikachu. On command. Without fatigue.

On the cellular monitor, he watched streams of bioelectric energy forming in the creature's body. Inside its cells, special nuclei were acting as electrical storage capacitors. Upon activation, the charge collected near its fangs and legs, and discharged in focused arcs.

Nathan leaned back.

"Incredible. These are genetic-level electric organs—possibly a mutation triggered by the extraordinary genome I spliced into its DNA."

Then he paused, brows raising.

"Wait... I carry the same genome in my body."

"If the genome caused this in Little Spider-Man, then what about me?"

He sat down at the scanner, loading up a full-body cell diagnostic scan.

"Let's see... do I have the same bioelectric potential?"

The screen lit up with a flashing prompt.

"Scan initiated. Searching for electric bio-signatures..."

Nathan leaned in.
