"You look just like her," the woman mumbled loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. Then, without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away like she hadn't said anything at all.
Hailey watched her go, frozen in place. Her mind clung to the words like glue: You look just like her.
Who?
Why did she say it like that?
But now wasn't the time to ask questions. Not when her heart was already shattered.
Killian ignored the strange woman entirely and focused his attention on Phil, eyes dark with frustration.
"Have you informed your security about what happened?" he demanded. "They should've found the person responsible by now—if they'd been doing their job right."
Phil nodded solemnly. He understood where Killian was coming from. Losing a child was a grief no one should have to bear, let alone face with unanswered questions.
