Fury stared at the screen as Squirrel Girl disappeared in the vents, 'We've been getting played this entire time...Osborn knew most likely from the beginning. But how? Was he working with Hydra...but if that's the case, then why send that nut to rescue us?'
While Maria had commented time and time again on her reports that Harry was capable of things far beyond his means, even as a genius-level intellect and billionaire, this was something else.
'There are too many questions unanswered, and now Hydra is most likely pulling him apart piece by piece for his secrets,' Fury lamented, though he was broken out of his thoughts by a forceful series of knocks against the door.
"Come out, Fury, and we'll grant you a quick death! It's only a matter of time before we manage to break through, and you have nowhere to go."
The threat came through muffled, but Fury snarled as he recognized the speaker, "Is that you, Jameson? Should have known you were a rotten, no-good nazi loving son of a bitch! And don't give me that bullshit about a quick death, I ain't a fool. You sadistic assholes would put my balls in a vice just to get the recipe for my mother's yam casserole!"
"Ahahah," Jameson laughed in response, "Ah, your pension for prophanity will be missed, Fury."
Through the camera, Fury watched as the traitors outside his door parted, making way for one of their comrades, who stepped forward holding several explosive charges that they began to place on the door.
"Ah shit," Fury muttered as he walked away from the monitors and started kicking over the furniture in the room and pushing it against the door, "The first one that comes in this room is getting a fucking bullet between their eyes, hope you hydra bastards can make peace with that!"
"We are all ready to die for a greater cause, but can you say the same of yourself Fury?" Jameson taunted, which only made Fury laugh, his dark chuckle reverberating through the air, "I've been risking my life for something greater than myself before half of you were born! You all don't know the fucking half of it."
With a grunt, Fury pushed one last barricade against the door before making his way to the far side of the room, kicking over a table and ducking behind it, "Your move, Jameson, come and get me motherfucker!!"
Instead of a verbal reply, there was a muffled bang that shook the entire room as the reinforced door was blown off the wall and sent flying, clearing the improvised barricade Fury had so painstakingly built.
Ducking behind the desk as shrapnel flew through the air, Fury popped back up, glancing over the edge as thick black smoke poured in through the now open doorway. For a moment, there was absolute silence before gunfire shattered the illusion of peace with a barrage of bullets ripping through the smoke screen.
Watching the blind cover fire, Fury waited a second before he raised his pistol and started returning fire, using the bullet trails left behind in the smoke to find his targets. With each shot, a grunt of pain echoed out and a blood-thirsty smile spread across Fury's lips, "What did I fucking say, y'all ain't got shit on me!"
Fury's eyes then widened as he watched several grenades roll through the smoke towards him, "Ah shi-"
The rest of his sentence was lost as another explosion ripped through the room, accompanied by a flash of light and a shockwave of force that slammed the desk Fury was hiding behind into him.
For a moment, Fury couldn't make out his left from his right, but when the world stopped spinning, he was face down on the floor with his ears ringing as his face tingling, "Shit."
Trying to pick himself off the floor, Fury swayed uneasily on his hands and feet before he looked around and spotted his gun lying a few feet away. Reaching out, Fury barely managed to wrap his fingers around the pistol grip, but before he could raise it, a steel-toe boot slammed down with a crunch.
"Motherfucker!" Fury swore as he felt his fingers snap, and he looked up to find Jameson staring down at him with a shit eating grin, "Ah, ah, I'm sorry but I can't allow you to kill yourself just yet."
With a dismissive kick, Jameson sent Fury's gun flying across the room while also further mangling his hand, forcing Fury to muffle his grunt of pain, "Y-you're not gonna get away with this."
Jameson smirked and knelt down to stare at Fury, "Oh, but I am. Because you've given us everything we need, so thank you for your service over all these years, American pig."
Fury glared at the traitor, but before he could respond, there was a loud bang from above, and Jameson looked up just in time to catch the metal vent covering with his face.
The Hydra agent let out a curse in German as he stumbled back, avoiding the Fury's furry savior, who dropped down and landed on the floor in a crouch, "Sorry I'm late, I got my rights and lefts mixed up."
Looking around the room, Squirrel Girl blinked as she found herself at the wrong end of over ten automatic rifles, "Well, this isn't good."
Recovering from the ambush and clutching a bloody nose, Jameson glared at Squirrel Girl with his watery blue eyes, "What are you waiting for, shoot her!!"
Gunfire erupted once more and Fury quickly covered his head as he heard the bullets ping against the floor around him.
"Woah, woah!"
Meanwhile, Squirrel Girl exclaimed as she avoided the opening barrage, dashing to the left on all fours while using her tail to catch any bullets that would have hit her body. When she reached the wall, Squirrel Girl punched using it as a springboard to launch herself into the air, forcing the agents to pause their fire as they lifted their guns up, trying to center their aim once more.
But before they could resume, Squirrel Girl's tail whipped out in front of her so fast that it created a forceful gust of air while also sending all the bullets caught up in her first flying back at their owners.
While it wasn't enough to kill outright or take any of the agents out of the fight, the sharp pain of improvised shrapnel against bare flesh bought Squirrel Girl enough time to close the distance.
With a howl of excitement, Squirrel Girl dropped out of the air and onto one of the agents, who was still reeling in pain, using her tail to anchor herself to the man as she unleashed a flurry of punches. Despite her short stature and unassuming physique that was more curvy than muscular, Squirrel Girl's fist hit with bone-breaking force as each impact echoed with a dull crack and blood.
In the blink of an eye, the man passed out and started to fall over, but Squirrel Girl was already moving, using the collapsing agent as a launch pad to send herself flying at his nearest comrade.
Though Squirrel Girl's next victim was a bit more prepared, and instead of going for their gun, quickly retrieved a knife that they thrust up at the furry heroine with a vicious snarl.
Seeing the blade, a broad smile spread across Squirrel Girl's face as her right hand formed a fist, and from between her knuckles, a sharp spike emerged with a slightly curved edge that ended in a sharp point.
Swing out with her arm, Squirrel Girl intercepted the blade with her knuckle spike and grinned, watching the surprised look flash across the agent's face as their blade was sliced clean through. Though their expression didn't last long as Squirrel Girl's fur boot slammed against their chin with a dull thud and their eyes rolled into the back of their head.
Like a feral animal, Squirrel Girl leaped from agent to agent quickly dispatching the highly trained soldiers like it was nothing, using her acrobatics and defensive tail to avoid fatal wounds.
Watching the entire scene, Fury couldn't help but shake his head, 'I'm getting my ass saved by an overgrown squirrel...I should have retired last year, could have been on a tropical island sipping pina coladas, but instead I decided to defend a world full of assholes and nearly got killed for it.'
Slowly picking himself off the ground, Fury cradled his broken hand against his chest as he looked around the room and realized that someone was missing. Glancing at the monitors, Fury snarled as he saw Jameson running away from the firefight and making his way towards on the emergency escape pods.
Gritting his teeth, Fury spotted his gun and grabbed it with his remaining hand, "You don't get to fuck up my hand and walk away like I'm not gonna do something about it."
"Wait, Fury, where are you going?" Squirrel Girl called out as she ducked underneath a wild haymaker before planting her hands against the ground and kicking up, slamming both of her feet into the solar plexus of her attacker and sending them flying, "I need to protect you!"
"I'm going to catch a rat!" Fury replied as he shambled out of the room, his one eye glowing with a fire of vengeance, "Come find me once you clean up the rest of this trash."
