Chapter 47 - The Witch's Game

"Tsk tsk, don't be so scared children auntie Morwen won't hurt you," Morwen giggled.

Sami tried to lunge at the witch, but she snapped her fingers. Sami's body froze in midair before he could even make contact with

"Aww is the little vamp scared,"Morwen mocked.

"Look lady we come to-", Poke began.

"A compromise?", Morwen finished. As she turned her to look at Poke. "One day you'll come to me willingly, you poor child. Then I'll give you the power you seek."

"Like hell you crazy bitch", Lyra roared. As she clenched her side. "What do you even want with us?"

Morwen just laughed as she looked at the scenery, it all was so boring and so very plain. Even this little plan was nothing more to cause more chaos out of boredom. She knew the cyclops hated Mercer.

She got her little pet to attack Mercer's grandson here causing Mercer to leave his castle. Then she teleported over the cyclops and a couple of soldiers killing two birds with one stone. At least for now her grand plan still hasn't unfolded yet, but soon there will be a grand finale.

Though as she looked at the frozen Sami and the two scared kids, what did she want? She has plenty of powers, maybe to please her master. Though that'll be soon, hmmm what an interesting question to ask her.

"What do I want, hmm. I guess chaos," Morwen answered with a smile forming on her face.

Sami reading the advice from O.R.A.C.L.E was coming up with a plan as paid attention to what was going on.

"CHAOS!"Screamed Lyra, her blowing in the wind. "DO YOU THINK THIS IS SOME SICK GAME"

"To me it is a game", Morwen cackled. "That'll I'll force you all to play"

"You chaotic bitch!"Lyra growled.

Using the last of her energy she summoned a sword, but at soon as it touched her hand she froze. The witch had her index finger on her right hand pointed at Lyra. Wagging her finger at Lyra as if she was a little dog.

"Tsk such a problematic bunch. You can fight back and scream all you want no one will be able to help you", Morwen mocked.

Morwen randomly lashed with her left hand catching a now visible Poke holding a dagger. The Poke sitting on the bench disappearing quickly.

"When will you children l-", Morwen got cut off as a shadow wrapped around her throat.

Her body went flying out the end of the wagon, shadow dragging her out. The cart kept going as the world around the group shimmered and cracked. Sounds of glass shattering were heard as everything began to fall down.

Sami landed hard on the cart ground. "Ugh, that was annoying", he gasped as he tried to catch his breath.

"Are you kids okay back there", the person driving the horses asked.

"Now he hears us", Lyra muttered. Dropping the sword in her hand as it disappeared.

"Yeah we are good", Poke answered. Rubbing his wrist where the witch grabbed him tightly.

The soldier didn't reply as he turned back around after hearing they were okay. Sami climbed to his feet, making sure to not stumble so he wouldn't fly out the cart. He checked on Lyra making sure she was okay before sitting down next her taking a deep breath.

"That little brat!"Morwen yelled as she laid there looking up at the sky.

The whip around her neck dissipated once she touched the ground. The wounds she acquired from hitting the ground and rolling were healing quickly. The look on her face turned sour as she couldn't feel her runes on the cart.

Unlike traditional magic users Morwen was never able to cast magic using her own powers. Joining the other witches and skin walkers she was able to learn rituals to make up for those weaknesses. Through that and runes she's able to simulate at least anything people can do.

Though she is of the last of the witches(skin walkers live on), she pledged herself to Silas in turn for new witches. She wants to recreate her group that was killed so many years ago.

Morwen quickly sat up as she felt for her rune she placed before going to the cart. Polyphemus the bastard son Poseidon. Lost to Mercer in a fight years ago, in exchange for a chance to attack Mercer. Polyphemus promised to assist her in capturing Sami.

Teleporting to his shoulder she watched up as his small group of cyclops launched giant boulders at Mercer though it wasn't doing anything. Polyphemus was around twenty feet tall. Taller than the average cyclops which was around eight- ten feet.

Morwen sat down as she enjoyed the feel of the air brushing against her skin as she watched the knights run away. They began to slowly pull away from the cyclops but that's fine, she factored all of that into her backup plan.

"Polyphemus", She addressed mentally. "We are going to unleash the goblins now."

Morwen, not waiting for a reply, began to chant to herself, feeling for the runes connected to goblins. They were waiting for a moment's notice to be summoned by her to help the attack.

Polyphemus still continued walking albeit slowly, his goal was to face Mercer once again. Before he was weak and got beat but this time he's strong. Now he is the leader of the cyclops.

Appearing over the end of the cart, Sami could see the academy in the distance. Letting out a breath he didn't realize he was holding he sat back down.

"I'm ready for this day to be over", Sami admitted.

"For once buffoon I agree with you", Poke added.

Lyra just nodded her head along. "At least you guys didn't get your ribs broken", She argued.

"Welp when you were knocked out I did get thrown around too though it already healed." Sami told her.

"Sigh you get all the busted powers.", Lyra sneered. "Healing takes so much energy out of me I'd be knocked out if I tried to heal myself in my weakened state."

"I'm just happy that the witch is gone," Poke interrupted. "Her face was really scary."

"Agreed", Sami and Lyra said at the same time.

Sami suddenly grabbed Lyra, throwing her at Poke before summoning a shield around all three.

"What the hell bookworm wh- ", Lyra started before an explosion went off around the cart. Cutting off her words as the group got sent flying.

[Updated: Can now Sense Danger]

+++

Due to the shield the group was harmed from any damage from the explosion. Though Lyra gripped her ribs from the sudden pain she laid on the ground. Sami climbed to his feet, brushing the dirt off of his clothes as he looked around him.

The cart was on fire, the horses were dead with no signs of the knight driving the cart. He noticed some of the knights with them were either missing body parts or laid dead. From the original thirty knights sent to help roughly twelve remained unharmed.

Another four were missing body parts but remained alive. The rest were sadly dead, at least that's Sami assumed seeing how they weren't with the group. Among the remaining knights he saw the commander completely okay and Mercer.

"Can we not do that again", Poke whined as he sat up rubbing his head. "Throwing Lyra into me was uncalled for dear Hades, she's kind of heavy."

"DID YOU JUST CALL ME FAT!"Lyra screamed. "YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT YOUR LUCKY I CAN'T HIT YOU RIGHT NOW"

"Lucky me", Poke muttered as he got to his feet

"WHAT DID YOU SAY", Lyra argued, her voice full of anger as she sat up to glare at Poke.

Sami just ignored the commotion as he felt a slight headache. Looking around a strange fog started to come around the group.

[Danger Incoming: 30 seconds]

"Shit", Sami mumbled as the fog came in full force. "Poke get close to Lyra now."

"Ugh I don't want to", Poke replied though he slowly began making his way towards her.

"Not like I want to be around you either in this weird fog.", Lyra said to him with venom in her tone.

Sami sat in front of the bickering duo as he began to breathe in and out. Concentrating on his powers, around the group the air began to harden. The shield simmered into view as it worked to keep it up.

Noticing the shield Lyra spoke up, "What's wrong Bookworm?"

"I can just feel danger around us, plus this fog doesn't seem normal. Maybe I'm over thinking things but I think we're about to get ambushed.", Sami replied.

"The explosion was just a fluke, maybe one of those stones made through the air shield. But no way anyone will try to attack us so close to the academy", Poke explained.

Sami didn't believe anything Poke said. He just had a gut feeling if he's not careful then he's going to regret it.
