“Before the reckoning of days and the weaving of stars, the Wheel turned upon the face of the deep, and by the casting of lots was dominion given to LUMAD, the First Maker, who raised the isles from the abyss and wrought the gods of sky, stone, dream, and sea. Yet the beginning is veiled in mist, and the end lieth beyond the sight of gods and men. As the gods strive and the people of the isles lift their songs, LUMAD resteth crowned upon the Dragon’s Beak, His dreams binding the world. But it is told that at the last turning of the Wheel, the First and the Last shall awaken, unmaking all, and shaping anew the worlds and gods yet to be.”

29. And so the world was shaped, isle upon isle,


each under the watchful gaze of the gods.


30. But LUMAD, having wrought the first works,


sat upon the Dragon's Beak, and His eyes closed,


for the weight of the making was heavy,
