Chapter 22 - The Titan Guild's Ultimatum

The orange glow of sunset spilled over the school courtyard as three armored transport carriers rumbled through the front gate.

"They brought reinforced troop carriers straight into our front driveway," the dark-haired striker observed, leaning casually against the parapet.

"Look at the polished plating on those front grilles."

"They certainly know how to waste fuel on theatrical posturing," the First Player remarked, resting his hand on the hilt of his void-wrapped blade.

"Kendra, keep the gate sentries in position and hold your fire."

"Understood, Commander," the shield guardian called down from the upper bastion, resting her stone shield against the masonry.

"Our archers have them dialed in if they try anything stupid."

"Let them park their vehicles in the open courtyard where our elevated positions have clear firing lanes," the striker added, checking the edge of her cutter.

"If they step out with weapons drawn, we can pin them against the front steps."

"Their engine manifolds are running exceptionally loud for modern tactical rigs," the frost mage pointed out, leaning over the balcony railing to inspect the chassis.

"They clearly modified those combustion blocks with low-grade mana cores to compensate for the added steel plating."

"That makes them heavy and sluggish on sharp turns," Nox noted, observing the deep tire impressions pressed into the gravel.

"If a skirmish breaks out, their drivers will have no room to maneuver in this courtyard."

The engines cut off in unison, leaving the courtyard filled with the quiet hiss of cooling radiator pipes.

Eight armed enforcers in gold-trimmed body armor stepped out of the rear transports, leveling automatic assault rifles across the open courtyard.

A tall, broad-shouldered man stepped out of the lead vehicle, wearing tailored combat silks and an engraved silver breastplate.

[ Target Appraised: Bradley — Titan Guild High Emissary | Personal Rank: B-Rank Awakened | Specialization: Gravitational Distortion ]

"Which one of you scavengers claims to be the First Player?" the emissary demanded, his voice ringing across the empty plaza with arrogant authority.

"Step forward and identify yourself before our vanguard flattens this perimeter."

"You are standing in the First Citadel," Nox replied, stepping down the wide entryway stairs with calm, steady footsteps.

"State your business before I confiscate your vehicles for unauthorized parking."

The emissary let out a harsh, mocking bark of laughter, adjusting the golden cuffs of his combat jacket.

"You really believe you are a sovereign ruler just from a world broadcast announcement?" the man sneered, taking several arrogant strides forward.

"I am Bradley, personal envoy of Guildmaster Vanguard Drake."

"Our organization controls the entire northern industrial sector and three hundred armed awakened soldiers."

"Your little sanctuary belongs to our company starting today."

"You came all this way just to deliver a speech?" Yeda called down from the balcony, twirling her tungsten cutter with practiced ease.

"Your southern scout party gave a much better performance before we wiped out the shadow stalkers chasing them."

Bradley scowled, his gaze flickering toward the dark-haired girl on the balcony before snapping back to the youth on the steps.

"You got lucky against wild beasts," the emissary snapped, clenching his right fist as dark purple energy crackled around his knuckles.

"Wild beasts do not possess B-Rank gravitational manipulation."

"Let me demonstrate what real power looks like in the new world."

"You talk entirely too much for someone standing in an active kill zone," the youth observed with a faint smirk.

"Show me this power you keep bragging about."

The man raised his palm toward an ornamental pillar near the entryway stairs, channeling his magical aura.

An invisible field of intense gravitational pressure slammed down on the pillar, crushing the dense stone into a cloud of powdery dust.

"Hand over your school territorial beacon and swear an oath of vassalage to our guildmaster," Bradley ordered, smirking at the drifting debris.

"Bend the knee right now, or I will crush your entire squad under ten tons of gravitational weight!"

"Is that the best demonstration your guild can manage?" Nox asked with a deadpan expression, continuing his steady descent down the steps.

"You crushed an ornamental pillar that was already cracked from the merge."

"You arrogant little brat... die!" Bradley roared, thrusting both glowing palms directly toward the youth's chest.

A violent pulse of localized gravity surged across the courtyard, warping the air as it attempted to pin the youth to the stone pavement.

"Void Edge... sever!"

The First Player drew his ground steel blade in an unbroken blur of motion, cloaking the edge in absolute spatial negation.

With a single fluid horizontal slash, Nox cut straight through the incoming gravitational shockwave, severing the magical field like thread.

The purple energy collapsed into harmless sparks, leaving the air completely still around his feet.

"What... how did you slice through pure gravity magic?" Bradley stammered, stumbling backward in sudden panic.

"My spell was concentrated at eight times atmospheric pressure!"

"Your technique is clumsy and relies entirely on raw pressure without refined shape control," the youth remarked, closing the distance with effortless ease.

"In a real battle, borrowed pressure means nothing against absolute spatial severance."

Before the man could recover his stance, the First Player vanished from the steps using `[Shadow Stride]`.

Nox reappeared directly inside Bradley's personal space, planting his left foot forward while shifting his weight into a ruthless open-palm strike.

The casual backhand connected squarely with Bradley's jaw with the force of an explosive battering ram.

The impact lifted the B-Rank emissary completely off the ground, sending him hurtling thirty feet through the air.

Bradley crashed violently into the reinforced windshield of his own lead vehicle, shattering the tempered glass into thousands of webbed fractures.

The man slumped across the crumpled hood, coughing up blood and shattered teeth as his purple aura flickered out entirely.

"Commander Bradley!" the eight gold-armored riflemen shouted in absolute horror, raising their assault weapons in a frantic panic.

"Nobody move... or the next void slash takes your heads!" the striker yelled from the balcony, dropping to the courtyard pavement with her blades gleaming.

Behind her, the frost mage and shield guardian stepped out from the main entryway, elemental energy flaring brightly across their hands.

"Drop the rifles on the ground right now," Vasa ordered, coating the enforcers' feet in slick, unyielding ice.

"Every single one of you is completely surrounded."

The eight enforcers stared at their unconscious commander on the crumpled vehicle hood, their hands shaking violently.

One by one, they dropped their twenty assault rifles onto the frozen stone, raising their open hands into the air.

"Strip off your armor, chest plates, and utility belts," Nox instructed coldly, standing beside the shattered vehicle.

"Leave the weapon magazines, sidearms, and vehicle ignition keys in a neat pile on the pavement."

"You... you can't do this to our guild!" one of the trembling enforcers protested, unbuckling his gold-trimmed plate.

"Our guildmaster will execute your entire faction when he hears about this outrage!"

"Tell him that if he wants my Citadel, he should come die in person instead of sending clowns," the youth replied, picking up a pair of glowing gravity core amulets from Bradley's shattered vest.

The enforcers stripped down to their undershirts in the freezing evening breeze, dragging their broken commander off the ruined vehicle hood.

"Start walking north," Yeda commanded, pointing her gleaming cutter toward the shattered school gates.

"If we see any of you lingering within two miles of our walls, we will use your ears for target practice."

"Keep moving and do not look back," the shield guardian shouted from the stairs, slamming her stone shield against the steps to emphasize the order.

"The next time any of your soldiers cross that perimeter line, we will open fire without warning!"

"Every sentry on our ramparts has orders to shoot on sight," the frost mage called out, watching the disarmed enforcers hurry through the courtyard gates.

"You had better run before our vanguard decides to test the range on your own rifles."

The humiliated emissaries hurried through the gates as fast as their bare feet could carry them, carrying their broken leader into the gathering dusk.

"That was remarkably satisfying to watch," the striker laughed, kicking one of the confiscated assault rifles with her heel.

"Three fully functional armored transports and twenty automatic rifles without firing a single bullet."

"Our mechanics can modify these vehicles into perimeter patrol rigs," Vasa noted, inspecting the reinforced engine blocks with a bright smile.

"And those two gravity accessories will provide excellent enchantments for our frontline armor."

"Take everything into the armory and distribute the ammunition among our defensive squads," the youth instructed, watching the distant northern horizon.

"Their guildmaster will not accept this humiliation quietly."

"He will bring his entire army before the night is over," Kendra warned, walking down the steps with her shield strapped to her back.

"Our scouts reported that the black obelisk countdown expires at midnight."

"Let him come," the First Player said, a cold, predatory smile touching his lips.

"We have forty-eight hours of preparation, fortified barriers, and twenty new rifles guarding our kill zone."

"The Titan Guild is marching straight into a meat grinder!" Yeda cheered, sheathing her blades with a crisp metallic click.

"We will turn their entire motorized convoy into scrap metal before they even touch the outer gate," Vasa added, her eyes flashing with eager anticipation.

"Let them bring every soldier they have in that northern district."

"Our frontline holds against anything short of a true apocalyptic calamity," Kendra stated with steady pride, checking the locking clamps on her arm braces.

"Every fighter in the East Wing is ready to defend our ground."

The squad set to work clearing the courtyard, securing the three captured transports and hauling the crates of ammunition into the citadel vault.

High above the school, the dual moons of the Merged sky rose through the darkening clouds, casting a pale glow across the waiting fortress.
