Chapter 6 - A SPARK

Alya had finally reunited with her body. Kaya couldn't hide his astonishment and was left frozen in place. Altar, on the other hand, was experiencing a feeling he had never known before, and so was Alya. This sensation had appeared the moment they locked eyes for the first time, and it didn't go away. Neither of them showed it, and they both reassured themselves that it was just a temporary feeling. Kaya had realized this and chose not to mention it for now. After a minute or two, they remembered the task they had to do and gathered themselves.

Alya left to change and went to the house she had lived in before she died. The key was always in its usual place. Before entering, she went to the attendant to ask if anyone had been living there. She had thought about knocking directly, but considering the possibility that someone might recognize her, she decided against it. She told the attendant the number of the house and asked about its status. The attendant informed her that no one had been living there, that the girl who used to live there had passed away years ago, and that the house had not been altered in any way.

After hearing this, she went back to the house, opened the door, and saw that it had indeed remained exactly the same. Memories flooded her mind, and she felt emotional. She went to her room and saw that it too remained unchanged, even the clothes were still there. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she suppressed her emotions. To her, she was still just a soul. She didn't believe she could return to her old self, and that's why she knew that if she felt anything, it would be longing, but that wasn't something she wanted. She repeated this to herself and went into the bathroom, wanting to feel clean again.

Meanwhile, Altar and Kaya continued gathering the souls, and their task was getting harder. The spirits were now able to move objects, and that could potentially harm other people. Thinking about this, they decided to ask for help. They sent a message to their friend group, whom they hadn't been able to meet because of everything that had been going on. The group consisted of four people, including them. The other two, Damla and Deniz, replied shortly after. They planned to meet in an hour and informed Alya as well.

While waiting for them, Kaya told Altar about the spark he had noticed between Altar and Alya, saying, "I saw how you two looked at each other." Altar told him not to be ridiculous and that he was just surprised when he first saw her. Kaya pushed a little more and eventually, Altar admitted it was a fleeting feeling and nothing more. The conversation ended as others arrived. They explained the situation to Damla and Deniz before Alya arrived. The two girls listened in shock, and they had a hard time believing it until they saw the evidence with the device.

When Alya arrived and the introductions were over, they asked her what had happened to her. Alya explained that she was just one of the many victims of the femicides happening in the country and that it had all started over a breakup. She mentioned how she had to follow the man and how he had been released. The girls hugged her, promising that they would make sure that man never got out of prison again. This was the first time Altar and Kaya were hearing this. Kaya felt sorrow, while Altar felt both sorrow and anger. Kaya noticed this and told Alya that the girls were studying law and that they would be able to make sure he stayed in prison. Alya felt relieved after sharing it with someone and thanked the girls.

With that, they returned to collecting the souls. They had three days left, and they were working faster. They had gathered almost half of the souls by now, so they decided to head home a little earlier that evening. Kaya called for a driver and offered to drop off Deniz and Damla on the way home. He also mentioned that he could drop Alya off at her place. Alya, however, politely declined, saying, "Thank you, but I'll go on my own."

Once everyone had left, Alya and Altar were left alone. Just as Alya was about to call a taxi, Altar stepped in and said that he wanted to take her home, or else he wouldn't feel at ease. Alya understood why he felt that way and agreed to let him. Altar explained that his house was very close, and he could drop her off on his motorcycle. Alya got excited when she heard the word "motorcycle" and mentioned that she loved motorcycles. They got on the bike and set off.

Alya held Altar tightly to avoid falling off, and this moment brought back the same feeling they had earlier that morning. Alya gave him directions, and within half an hour, they arrived. Alya reassured Altar, telling him that now that she was safe, the man would never be able to hurt her again. Altar responded, "I know," and added that seeing Alya stay so calm in such a bizarre situation showed how brave and strong she was. He then said, "I'm here now too," and they hugged tightly, as if they would never let go again.
