"What are you doing here?"
My voice was cold as I lifted the heavy crown from my head and set it on the table. I made sure my tone remained calm, unaffected by the return of the treacherous man who had vanished without a word these past few days.
"Just… to see you."
Xavier brushed his fingers across the camera, slowly walking toward me. His voice was calm, deep like the ocean floor, carrying that familiar melancholy I could never name.
"You look stunning in that wedding dress." He said, stopping just before me and kneeling like he always used to.
He once told me this was his rightful place.
"You were the one who pushed me into Rorden's arms. Regretting it now?" A bitter laugh escaped my lips, one I didn't bother to hold back.
"Regret, huh…"
Xavier suddenly rested his head on my lap, nudging my palm like a loyal hound begging for affection, just as he had back in Alpengard.
"It wouldn't change anything."
