There was a red dot on Coruscant—Xiao Jie's, tied to his communicator. Veronica had left hers aboard The Traveler, making that the second red dot. But the third one—Lango's—wasn't showing up on the star map at all.

"Which one of these is the person you're tracking?" Obi-Wan asked.

"None. Either the communicator wasn't fully destroyed, or constant hyperspace jumps are disrupting the signal," Amir explained.

"Let's hope it's the latter," Kayn said grimly.

Amir kept working and eventually pulled up another screen. It showed the last known transmission from Lango's tracking beacon.

"What the hell is this place?" Amir muttered, staring at the red dot's position.

Lango's signal had last appeared in an uncharted sector at the edge between the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim.

"This is gonna be a headache." Amir looked up at the region and sighed.

Anywhere else, he might have a lead. But in this backwater sector? Where was he supposed to even start?

"Good luck, brother…" Amir sighed again and switched off the projection.

"???" Kayn blinked in disbelief.

"Don't look at me. Unless the tracker transmits another location, there's no way to find him," Amir said helplessly. "All we can do now is pray for him. May the Force be with him."

"Yeah... I guess so," Kayn muttered.

"I've never paid much attention to that sector," Obi-Wan added. "There aren't any major planets—just a few minor mining colonies, at most."

"I might still know someone who can do a little... divination," Amir said suddenly.

He accessed Ahsoka's comm channel and made a call.

The connection went through quickly.

Ahsoka and Veronica appeared in the holoprojection.

Obi-Wan immediately sat up straight.

Damn, Amir had almost forgotten—technically, Obi-Wan was Ahsoka's grandmaster.

Feigning ignorance, Amir offered a casual greeting.

At that moment, the hologram only showed Amir on Ahsoka's side.

"Ahsoka!" Obi-Wan finally couldn't help calling out.

Amir adjusted the holotransmitter to include him.

"It's been a long time," Obi-Wan said, a warm, nostalgic smile on his face.

"Master Obi-Wan!!" Ahsoka beamed with joy. She had never been one to suppress her emotions. "You—you're alive! I thought…"

"I thought so too. Most of my old friends are gone. Seeing you again… it means a lot."

"Where are you now? And Amir—how did you two end up together?"

Amir gave her a brief summary of events.

"That's enough. Just knowing you're still alive is more than I could ask for. Please take care of yourself, Master," Ahsoka said softly.

"I'm trying to reach Guli'gena. Is she with you?" Amir asked.

"She's not. Remember those children? Using the holorecorder you sent, we found an abandoned Republic medical research facility. She and the kids are there now."

"Any progress?" Amir asked.

"A little. At least their lives have stabilized, for now. Thankfully, we captured a researcher who's been a great help."

"If you need to talk to her, I can put you in touch."

Amir glanced at Veronica and gave a wry smile. "Lango's missing again."

"What?!" the red-haired girl gasped. "Wasn't he investigating the slavers? With that furball?"

"You mean the Falleen? I didn't expect trouble on that mission. If I had, I wouldn't have asked for your help," Ahsoka said, visibly regretful.

"Forget it. What matters now is I can't reach Lango at all. I was hoping Guli'gena could use her foresight—see if there's a clue."

"Understood. I'll send a message and have someone reach out to you," Ahsoka said as she worked her comm. Transmitting coordinates directly wasn't an option—if they were compromised, it could be catastrophic for their allies.

"Please understand. It won't be long—someone there will contact you soon."

"No, it's me who's asking too much."

"Master Obi-Wan?" Ahsoka called suddenly.

Obi-Wan looked up.

"There's so much I want to tell you. We'll meet again someday, won't we?"

"Of course, Ahsoka."

"Mr. Amir?" came a familiar voice.

"Hark?"

"Haha, yep! I heard you're looking for Guli'gena. She's actually been talking about you nonstop these past two days—probably sensed you were searching for her."

"She's got a real gift."

"Right? Lately when our research hits a dead end, we ask her to choose the direction. It's boosted our progress like crazy," Hark said enthusiastically.

"You guys found a practical use for her abilities? That's genius," Amir chuckled, impressed.

"I've sent you a set of coordinates—it's a space station. Can you come by? We've got some things we'd love your help with. And Guli'gena misses you too."

Amir checked the coordinates. His pupils dilated—it was the exact sector where Lango had disappeared.

"You know anything about that region?" Amir asked abruptly.

"That sector?" Hark paused to think. "There are some major mining operations, but the Empire hasn't brought the area under control yet. The local planetary authorities are stubborn—they've been resisting hard. That's why we're active here."

"But it won't last. The Empire's going to make a move soon. I can feel the war coming."

Amir fell silent for a moment, then said, "I'll come. Set a time."

"How about noon tomorrow? I'll be there ahead of time."

The next day, Kayn went to meet Boba Fett. Obi-Wan headed back into the city—oddly eager. The more Inquisitors there were, the more interested he seemed. Amir figured the old Jedi was simply bored after all these years—maybe he was looking for a little excitement.

That morning, Amir meditated for about an hour. Then he practiced lightsaber forms with his training drone—a floating ball armed with a blaster.

Only after that did he board The Traveler.

He enjoyed a luxurious bath in the ship's deluxe facilities before taking his place in the cockpit.

Time was still on his side.

Tatooine wasn't like Coruscant. The planet's orbit had zero Imperial patrols, so he could fly out boldly without any trouble.

But then—an unexpected turn.

Just as Amir broke through the atmosphere, his sensors picked up two ships tailing him.

Imperial vessels.
