After that, the two of them lapsed into silence for the remainder of the drive. It was not an awkward silence, but rather the kind that felt familiar and comfortable. Axel found himself watching the scenery pass by through the window, his mind already running through the plans he intended to put into motion. Marlon focused on the road, not feeling the need to fill the air with small talk.
When they finally reached the AX base, Marlon parked in front of what looked like an ordinary small house sitting on a huge plot of land, surrounded by a tall fence. To outsiders, it was nothing but a quiet property with no remarkable features, but Axel knew better.
