UK:GSW Chapter 329 – Jiraiya's Troubles and Springtime
For Kakashi, what he was experiencing now was the classic "The XXX Who Returned from XX."
This format, before Uchiha Kei's transmigration, had already become a staple trope in web novels, with one of the biggest examples being "Lu Mingfei Who Returned from XX."
That protagonist of Dragon Raja, a perennial loser for over a decade, carried the youthful memories of many readers while also making countless others feel bitter disappointment at his lack of growth. His stagnant state left many unwilling to accept it, so the "Returned from XX" format exploded in popularity, with everyone wanting to see Lu Mingfei come back from another world to live a completely different life.
Now, Uchiha Kei had simply transplanted this format into the shinobi world, making Hatake Kakashi the first to "eat the crab."
Whether he would be the last, no one knew.
However, as Kakashi's father, Sakumo Hatake was quite happy to see such a change.
Even though it meant deceiving his dear son a little, the sharp and resolute look in Kakashi's eyes made the elder Hatake feel deep satisfaction.
It made him think that acting out this whole scenario had been worth it, and he felt very grateful to Uchiha Kei.
After all, before this, Sakumo had failed quite miserably in training his son.
Even after resorting to full Spartan "strict father" methods, Kakashi remained as lazy as ever—fearful, lacking confidence, yet unable to rouse true fighting spirit.
Of course, it wasn't as if Kakashi had no will to fight at all, but it fell far short of Sakumo's standards—completely unqualified willpower, in the White Fang's view.
The Sakumo here was not the same as the father in the other shinobi world who had waited for his son at the border of life and death.
Revived by Uchiha Kei, and having made peace with his younger son in that world, he now felt more guilt and frustration toward the grown Kakashi.
Thus, his mindset was entirely different from in the original timeline.
Given this, the traditionally-minded and somewhat old-fashioned Sakumo did not hesitate to use certain methods to "toughen up" his son.
Minato Namikaze, for his part, could only shrug. He wasn't truly conflicted about the outcome—he was simply asking out of his role as a teacher.
In truth, the Yellow Flash was never short of methods, especially under the butterfly effect of Uchiha Kei's influence.
With his mind already set on reforming the entire shinobi world, how could he be bothered over the use of certain harmless tactics?
To Minato, as long as the methods didn't harm others, damage the shinobi world, or degrade moral standards, they were acceptable.
In short—Kakashi's issue had been resolved.
And now, believing himself to have returned from the Warhammer 40K universe, Kakashi was crossing swords with his father while pondering matters of Chaos.
Without a doubt, Chaos' power would one day set its sights on the shinobi world.
Exactly how was unknown, but most likely someone would introduce Chaos' power into the shinobi world, allowing it to take root.
This knowledge came from the great Emperor himself.
Although the Emperor's might had vanished upon Kakashi's return, the knowledge remained, ready for him to use.
So Kakashi had made up his mind—he must investigate Chaos and never allow its power to corrupt the shinobi world.
And he knew this corruption did not originate from the shinobi world he was in now, but from his original parallel world.
When he fought his father and teacher at full strength in the other world, the Chaos-tainted memory visions had not shown this world's Hidden Leaf, but the one from his own parallel world.
In the clash of wills, he had glimpsed scenes from that shinobi world.
This proved that the source of Chaos' corruption was his original world.
Thinking of how, in that world, the Akatsuki were stirring up the entire shinobi world with a grand conspiracy, and in the Hidden Leaf, Danzo Shimura had returned to rebuild the Root after the Third Hokage's death—with great power thanks to the two Elder Advisors—Kakashi couldn't help but suspect.
Considering what this world's investigation had uncovered about the Root after its destruction, Kakashi thought it very possible that Chaos' power had been brought in by Danzo himself.
With memories of the Warhammer 40K universe, Kakashi knew all too well—Danzo was exactly the sort of person Chaos loved to tempt, someone highly susceptible to its corruption.
Everything fit together—once the two Hidden Leafs from parallel worlds connected, Danzo could have worked in the shadows to sabotage everything from within, allowing Chaos to strike and destroy both shinobi worlds.
In the process, his father and teacher here had been corrupted and controlled, while his own soul had been taken by the Emperor to fight Chaos, showing him its true horror.
"Emperor, I understand now why you sent me back. The shinobi world must never be tainted by Chaos' power. This time, I will protect it."
That night, Kakashi stood at his residence, gazing at the bright moon. His eyes, as if hiding a lion within, held unshakable resolve as he murmured to himself.
Of course, this was all speculation for now. He could only confirm it after returning to his own world.
Kakashi was determined to go back soon, to fulfill his mission and stop Chaos from invading.
Also—for the first time in years—he now felt an overwhelming hunger for greater strength.
He knew all too well that with his current power, he had no chance against Chaos, and might not even be able to handle the Akatsuki's threat.
He had to break through again.
Yes—further breakthrough. Kakashi could feel it—since returning from the other world, his strength had already increased noticeably.
For one thing, his chakra reserves had grown significantly, which was simply incredible. Surely this was the Emperor's gift!
Well… at least Kakashi believed that.
In reality, it was due to his changed will and mindset—and also because, while he was unconscious, he had been fed cola and other sugary drinks to maintain his energy and boost his stamina.
So when Kakashi awoke with renewed determination, he naturally absorbed it all.
Otherwise, having slept for more than a day, how could he have the energy to spar with Sakumo right away without feeling hungry?
Thus, any sudden mysterious boost in power could only be explained as "hacks."
Even a Saiyan needed to recover from near-death to gain such growth.
But Kakashi, unaware of these hidden details, simply thought it was the Emperor's blessing.
No one corrected him—including the one actually wearing the Emperor's "golden giant" and "cold sun" disguise in the Warhammer 40K world: Uchiha Kei.
As far as everyone was concerned, as long as Kakashi was now a hard worker, that was a good thing—it meant the investment in him would pay off quickly.
In fact, by this point, the group of transmigrators were about ready to return to their original world, as Naruto's first phase of training was nearly complete.
In the future—now that the two shinobi worlds were connected—once the network was established, even after Naruto and the others went home, they could still log into the genjutsu network to continue their training in the learning space.
So with that guarantee, it wasn't a problem for them to leave.
Besides, they had already been here quite a while.
Now that the worlds were linked and their time flow was synchronized, it was no longer appropriate to linger.
They had to return to handle matters there before thinking about coming back.
The transmigrators soon received notice—it was time to go back.
To them, it was something of a "bad news" moment, because in this Hidden Leaf—whether Naruto or anyone else—they all felt a sense of "this place is so good, I don't want to leave."
They had been treated like VIPs, spent nothing, enjoyed countless genjutsu games, grown stronger from them, and in Kakashi's and Naruto's cases, received fatherly love and guidance.
Naruto, in particular, had felt a mother's care for the first time.
Sai had also met his brother—still alive here at age thirteen, younger than himself.
Though he could not reveal his identity, simply seeing his brother free from the Root and Danzo's control, living in the sunlight, was salvation enough for him.
As for Sakura Haruno—having both parents alive, she was less affected emotionally.
But she was very happy to see the beauty of this shinobi world and to receive guidance and care from various veteran shinobi.
Also—the genjutsu games were amazing, and she was completely hooked!
Inside the game, she could wear a disguise, release her hidden personality without restraint, and go wild beating up other players. It was pure joy—plus, it improved her combat skills and experience.
So everyone found life here far too good, making it hard to leave.
Still, they had the will to return when the time came, knowing that no matter how good this world was, it was not theirs.
They had to go back and fight in their own.
Fortunately, their reluctance soon faded when they were told they could return here anytime.
This lifted everyone's spirits—especially upon learning that some emissaries would accompany them back.
Most exciting for Naruto—two of these emissaries were Jiraiya and Minato Namikaze.
Yes, both would go to the other Hidden Leaf.
With Minato's status, talent, and reputation, he was fully capable of fulfilling a diplomatic mission, and his return from the dead in another world would be a powerful statement.
Jiraiya's case was a little more complicated.
These days, Jiraiya was happy, fulfilled, and content—but also had troubles.
Immersed in his "artistic game" creation, he kept himself busy every day, completely absorbed in the work.
Over the months, the Toad Sage had grown thinner, taking on an odd, sage-like air.
Thanks to Uchiha Kei supplying him with all sorts of "otaku meal sets," he avoided an early death from creative overwork.
Even while creating art, Jiraiya didn't forget his other duties—such as the Konoha Orphanage, which he had been tasked with running after Danzo and the Root's downfall.
Unlike the utterly depraved Danzo, Jiraiya managed the orphanage with genuine compassion.
When he learned of its shortage of funds, supplies, and manpower, he immediately used his authority and connections to bring in resources and staff.
The once-struggling orphanage quickly became well-provisioned.
Noticing the outdated facilities, he even paid out of pocket for renovations and expansion.
In just a month—thanks to the Hidden Leaf's strong infrastructure—the orphanage was transformed into a large, new, welcoming place that would have taken a year or two otherwise.
Now, everyone there—staff and children alike—was full of smiles.
The children, especially, adored the white-haired man, calling out "Jiraiya-sama" every day.
Jiraiya would laugh heartily and shower them with snacks and toys, doting on them completely.
Although his actions came purely from his own sense of duty and conscience, the stark contrast with the orphanage's previous management deeply shocked its current head—Nonō Yakushi, now a beautiful 24-year-old woman.
Raised under Danzo's constant manipulation, she had never imagined someone like Jiraiya could exist—such a kind, noble, and conscientious person.
To her, he was like something out of a dream, and she was completely "captured" by him.
Yes—without Jiraiya even realizing it, believing he had done nothing more than make a small contribution, Nonō saw him as the most great, good, and principled person in the world.
Her admiration and longing for him grew to the extreme, looking at him through a filter of pure idealization.
