UK:GSW Chapter 331 – What? In a Parallel World, Obito Turned Evil and Caused a String of Tragedies? Then He Must Be Killed!
Amid the radiance, the world changed.
"So this is the Rōran of the parallel world? Uh… isn't this completely reduced to ruins? It's this bad?"
Crossing the gate to the parallel world and arriving in another shinobi world, Jiraiya's face showed a look of shock when he saw the state of Rōran, where the Dragon Vein was located.
Before the crossing, Jiraiya had visited Rōran in the main world—after learning what had happened there, and finding out that his exceptional student had secretly manipulated Rōran to carry out reforms, Jiraiya had paid close attention to the matter. He felt both concern and a strange mix of anticipation and hope. In his eyes, Minato Namikaze's actions were utterly outrageous from a traditional shinobi standpoint, yet they perfectly fit the image of the "Child of the Prophecy" foretold by the Great Toad Sage—someone who would bring change and peace to the shinobi world.
It could be said that once Jiraiya learned his student wanted to change the shinobi world, he became convinced that Minato Namikaze was indeed the Child of the Prophecy from the Great Toad Sage's vision.
This was also Jiraiya's original belief in the canon timeline—except in this altered world, transformed by the butterfly effect brought on by Uchiha Kei, Minato's qualities were far too prominent, making Jiraiya absolutely certain of it.
Later, seeing Rōran flourish under Minato's rule—thriving with vitality and growth—Jiraiya was overjoyed, praising Minato for his fine work and looking forward to his future achievements.
Of course, Jiraiya still held some doubts about Minato's secret control over Rōran, due to his own traditional shinobi mindset, but he kept those thoughts to himself.
Now, after crossing over and seeing a Rōran completely destroyed and devoid of life, he felt the stark contrast between worlds. He realized clearly what fate awaited Rōran's people without Minato's intervention.
Jiraiya also came to understand that although Minato's methods defied tradition, they indeed produced good results. In this parallel world, however, Minato had apparently clung to tradition, only to end up dead, with the shinobi world unchanged—obviously failing to fulfill the role of the Child of the Prophecy.
Since that was the case, faced with the Minato who was becoming the true Child of the Prophecy, what reason did Jiraiya, as a teacher, have to oppose or doubt him?
What he needed to do was fully support and assist his student.
After all, Minato truly was making the shinobi world a better place!
Next came preparations for the trip to the Hidden Leaf Village.
Those from the main world needed disguises—after all, this parallel world had people identical to them, and being discovered could cause trouble.
Not to mention, the White Zetsu scattered across the shinobi world were already a concern.
Although, thanks to Lord Kei, many White Zetsu in the Rōran ruins and parts of the Land of Wind had already defected to follow their cold, sun-like lord, Kei, many others remained under the twisted, sinister control of Black Zetsu. If those loyal White Zetsu spotted anything, they would surely inform Black Zetsu, creating problems—at least, that's what the local loyalist White Zetsu said.
In these circumstances, the local White Zetsu also provided intel unknown to Kakashi and the others—intelligence on the Akatsuki, and more importantly, on the mastermind behind them, "Uchiha Madara."
"What? In this world, the mastermind behind the Akatsuki is Obito pretending to be Uchiha Madara!?"
Minato Namikaze's eyes widened in shock. Staring at Uchiha Kei, who had brought him the report, he looked utterly incredulous.
"How could this be? Why would Obito in this world be Uchiha Madara?"
Uchiha Kei shrugged. "You know what's up with the Uchiha Madara in our world, Minato. If he hadn't eaten the stuff I gave him, he'd be nearly dead by now—instead of alive and kicking, playing genjutsu games with the First Hokage every day."
"A dying Uchiha Madara, unaware of the truth behind his grand plan, would naturally choose a successor, right?"
Minato's expression darkened as he connected the dots with intelligence from the main world and the parallel one. "So Obito was the successor Madara chose? But… with Obito's personality, he wouldn't carry out the Eye of the Moon Plan… Wait—could it be… because of Rin?"
He quickly thought of a possibility, combining this with intel from the 31-year-old Kakashi from this world—knowing that Nohara Rin had died near the end of the Third Shinobi World War.
If Rin's death wasn't an accident but part of Madara's scheme, and if Madara had deliberately arranged for Obito to witness it, then Obito…
Minato's heart skipped a beat as he imagined the scene—Uchiha Obito deceived by Madara, driven to darkness after seeing his best friend kill the girl he loved.
Minato knew well that the Uchiha were a clan of love. People like that could easily be driven to emotional extremes. He also understood Obito's personality and potential.
Not to mention, Uchiha Kei had secretly told Minato that Obito had already awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan—he just hadn't realized it yet due to his young age, and thus hadn't used its power.
But the awakening was certain.
To awaken the Mangekyō at ten years old was a sign of undeniable genius—and of emotions so intense they could twist one's thoughts and mind.
Someone like that, targeted in a calculated plot, really could fall completely into darkness.
Thinking of the Obito in the main world now, Minato couldn't help but feel grateful to Uchiha Kei—thanks to Kei's elaborate genjutsu training and "social death" methods, Obito not only awakened the Mangekyō but also developed an incredibly strong heart.
Now, if Obito saw a comrade die—if he saw Kakashi accidentally kill Rin—he would still grieve and feel anger, but he wouldn't waver from his convictions. He would continue moving forward with resolve.
Minato continued reading the relevant files. Seeing the parallel world's Obito, under the guise of Uchiha Madara, wreak havoc across the shinobi world—causing the deaths or crippling of his three fellow founding members of the Akatsuki, making the survivors wish to "make the world feel pain," and becoming the world's most feared terrorist—made Minato's grip on the documents tighten.
When he reached the part revealing Obito as the true culprit behind the Nine-Tails' attack—causing the deaths of the parallel Minato and Kushina—and later helping to fuel the Uchiha Clan Massacre, Minato closed his eyes in pain.
After a long silence, he reopened them, his voice hoarse and bitter. "This really is… a truly awful situation. Obito… to think he would do something like this… So that's how the tragedies in this world happened…"
Turning to Uchiha Kei's shadow clone, Minato asked quietly, "Kei, what should we do?"
Uchiha Kei replied calmly, "Minato, what do you think we should do? Some things can be forgiven—but some cannot."
Hearing this, Minato understood Kei's meaning. He gave a bitter smile and let out a deep sigh.
But then the "PLUS" version of the Yellow Flash showed a look of firm resolve—his decision was made.
Just as Uchiha Kei had said, while the parallel world's Obito's fall into darkness might have been caused by Madara, and he might have his own tragedies and sorrows, that didn't excuse his crimes.
Such a man could not be pardoned by anyone—not even on behalf of his victims. Justice had to be dealt, and dealt heavily!
Thus, the basic consensus to deal with and capture Uchiha Obito was reached. The actual plan, however, would wait until diplomatic ties with this world's Hidden Leaf were established.
Before moving against the Akatsuki and the corrupted Obito, the internal opposition in the Leaf had to be dealt with—according to Kakashi's intel, the conservatives were very strong now. Among them, Shimura Danzo had taken advantage of the Third Hokage's death and Tsunade's unstable position as Fifth Hokage to rebuild the Root division, holding great power as the conservatives' leader.
If Danzo were merely a staunch conservative, he could be persuaded into peaceful retirement. But knowing what Root truly was, and that Danzo was ambitious and laden with crimes, made it clear that removing the Leaf's internal opposition would be far from simple.
Bloodshed was inevitable—and exactly how to proceed would depend on how this world's Tsunade chose to act. If she refused to move against Danzo, then the main world would not engage in deep cooperation with the parallel Leaf—at most, some ordinary diplomacy and genjutsu-game-related trade.
Other exchanges, like economic, cultural, and technological aid, would not happen.
If necessary, such deep collaboration could be given to other powers—after all, just because they were both "Hidden Leaf" didn't mean they were one and the same. Even brothers kept accounts clear—let alone two Leaves that had developed in completely different directions.
For now, the group first woke up the captured and long-sleeping Sand shinobi and Yamato from the Leaf.
These unlucky ones had been unconscious since capture, unaware of anything, with even their memories of encountering Sasori erased.
Upon waking, they found themselves in the ruins outside Rōran and saw Naruto and Kakashi's group.
They were then fed a cover story—based on the original movie plot involving Rōran—claiming they had no idea what had happened, only that they "came to" back here, and that the missing-nin Mukade had been killed, meaning the mission was somehow completed.
With no clues to pursue and Mukade dead, plus Naruto and his comrades found, everything was considered resolved.
Naruto's group parted ways with the Sand shinobi, who returned to report in, while the Leaf shinobi headed home.
Minato's group stayed in Rōran—they didn't need to travel with them, as the Flying Raijin Jutsu would take care of transport. Naruto's team carried one of Minato's kunai for the jutsu.
About five days later, Naruto's team reported they had returned to the Leaf and briefed Tsunade on the mission.
The parallel Leaf was now ready for the meeting.
Kakashi also sent a discreet message saying the intel was hidden from the conservatives—only Tsunade and her confidants knew of the parallel world.
The initial meeting would be secret, and afterward, Tsunade planned to visit the main world for observation.
Clearly, Kakashi had helped make this happen. The once laid-back "whatever the boss says" Kakashi had become highly proactive and full of ideas.
The arrangements were thus finalized.
Once preparations were complete, Minato entered Nine-Tails Chakra Mode and transported Uchiha Kei's shadow clone and Jiraiya.
In an instant, the surroundings shifted—they were now in a dojo about the size of a football field. Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi were there, along with Tsunade, her assistant Shizune, intelligence advisor Inoichi Yamanaka, and this world's Jiraiya.
Of those involved in the crossing, only Sai was absent—being a Root operative, he had been summoned by Danzo for questioning.
But Danzo would learn nothing—Sai's tongue curse seal had been removed and replaced with a fake, and all other control measures Danzo had placed were similarly nullified and disguised. Minato had even sealed Sai's mind against Root's memory-searching techniques.
Thus, Danzo would remain in the dark—Sai had already fully betrayed him. After learning of the other world's Danzo and seeing his brother, killed by Root in that world, Sai's loyalty now lay wholly with the main world's Leaf.
In fact, more than Naruto's group, Sai was the first to truly defect to the main world's Leaf—because it matched his ideal vision of the village.
Sai was ready to strike Danzo down at any moment in the name of justice.
