Chapter 2 - The Bonding of Flesh

The world felt different after the Revelation Rite. Maxiel stood frozen in the center of the temple's great hall, his body buzzing with energy, his mind a whirlwind of questions. The whispers of the crowd surged around him like a distant storm, muffled and distant as his thoughts clouded with the weight of his class.

Biomancer of the Bound Flesh. No one had ever heard of such a class. The Seers, the revered sages of the kingdom, had stood in silence, their faces unreadable, their magic relics glowing faintly as they struggled to comprehend the power that had manifested within Max. They had expected the usual — a warrior, a mage, maybe even an alchemist or a beast tamer. But a Legendary Class?

The air in the hall felt thick with tension. The Seers exchanged glances, murmurs of confusion and awe passing between them. Max could feel their gaze upon him, their power sensing the magnitude of what had just occurred.

But they had no answers. None of them had seen a class like his before. His class was an anomaly, one that defied all logic, all understanding. As much as they tried to hide it, Max could see the fear in their eyes — fear not of him, but of the potential his class held. Fear of the unknown.

The head Seer, an elderly man named Sethis, stepped forward, his staff tapping the stone floor with a measured cadence. His deep, ancient voice broke the silence. "This is... unprecedented. We have not encountered a class like this in recorded history. Maxiel Verros... You carry within you a power far beyond anything we can comprehend."

Max swallowed hard. He didn't know what to feel. Fear? Excitement? His mind raced with possibilities, but there was one thing he was sure of: his life was about to change in ways he couldn't yet understand.

The other Seers nodded in agreement. They had no explanation. Max's class didn't fit within their teachings. But the consequences of a Legendary Class — one of divine origin — being awakened in their kingdom were far-reaching. This was no small event. The news would ripple through every level of society, from the humble farmers to the royal court.

Aftermath: The Weight of Power

Max's family had been waiting outside the temple, their faces a mixture of hope and worry. His father, Aleron, a sturdy man with hands calloused from years of blacksmithing, stepped forward, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"What... What did the Seers say, Max? What class did you receive?" His voice was heavy with concern, and Max could hear the uncertainty in it.

Max took a deep breath, looking up at his father. "It's... It's called Biomancer of the Bound Flesh."

Aleron's face went pale, and for a moment, he seemed lost in thought. Max's mother, Elya, stepped forward with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "That's wonderful, Max," she said softly, though Max could feel the hesitation in her words. "A powerful class. But, what does it mean?"

Max shook his head. "I don't know yet. The Seers... they've never seen anything like it. They don't know what it means either."

Elya's smile faded. "But... but you're special, Max. This is something great. You'll learn to control it."

Max nodded, but in truth, he wasn't so sure. A Legendary Class wasn't just a gift. It was a burden. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that his family, his village, even the kingdom, would look at him differently. The power that flowed through him wasn't something that could be ignored or hidden.

His life would never be the same. He wasn't just Max anymore. He was the Biomancer, a wielder of life and death, of creatures and their bonds. His family would be dragged into this whirlwind as well. His father, a simple blacksmith, had no idea what it would mean to raise a son with this kind of power. Max could already feel the distance growing between him and the world he once knew.

The Stats and Skills of a Biomancer

That night, after his family had retired to bed, Max sat alone in his room. The glowing sigil on his palm still burned faintly with residual magic from the ceremony. He opened his status screen, the familiar system now a part of his life, though it felt so foreign, so vast compared to the humble life he had led.

Max scrolled through the skills, feeling both awe and unease. Tame Creature, Creature Synthesis, and the rest of the abilities were all new to him. He had the power to bind creatures, to combine their traits, but the thought of creating life, molding it as he saw fit, filled him with uncertainty. Could he control such power? Could he control the creatures he tamed? What if they became too strong for him to manage?

His finger hovered over the Tame Creature skill, and he let his mind wander to the idea of his first creature. It was time to test his abilities, to see if he could live up to the name of his class.

The First Test: Taming the Beast

The next morning, Max set out into the nearby woods. He knew he had to start somewhere, and what better place than the outskirts of Mirathar Forest? It wasn't too far from Thornhill, and though the wilds were dangerous, Max had grown up hearing stories about the creatures that lurked within.

He ventured deeper into the forest than he ever had before, feeling the strange sensation that his Anomaly Perception skill had awakened. It wasn't just the forest's normal sounds that filled the air; it was as if he could feel something else — something wild just beyond his reach.

Max paused, eyes scanning the trees. That was when he heard it — the low growl that sent a shiver up his spine. A wild boar, twice the size of a regular one, charged out from the underbrush, its tusks gleaming with the promise of danger.

Max's instincts kicked in. Tame Creature was his only option. He couldn't run. He couldn't hide. He had to face this, and he had to tame it.

The boar charged, its massive body thundering toward him. Max barely had time to react. He raised his hand, focused his will, and called on the skill. The bond between him and the creature began to form, a pulse of magical energy flowing from his palm to the wild animal.

"Stay!" Max shouted, his voice calm but firm. The boar screeched to a halt, its body trembling with the effort of resisting. Max's mind focused harder, pulling at the creature's primal instincts. The wild beast was powerful, but Max was determined.

The boar's tusks gleamed in the sunlight as it stepped closer, snorting, its eyes filled with primal fury. It wasn't giving up. Not yet.

Max's fingers tightened, and the bond deepened. He could feel the animal's resistance fading. It wasn't easy. It wasn't immediate. But slowly, the boar stopped thrashing. Its body relaxed, its growls subsiding.

Max was breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his forehead. This was his first true test. He had to hold onto the power, keep the creature under control. It was more difficult than he imagined, but it was working.

Minutes passed, and finally, the boar's wildness was subdued. It stopped struggling, sitting down in front of him. Max let out a slow breath, his body exhausted from the effort. The Tame Creature ability had worked. The boar was his.

Max smiled, a sense of victory rising within him. He had tamed his first creature. But this was just the beginning. The path ahead was filled with uncertainty, and he wasn't sure he was ready for it. But he had no choice now. He was a Biomancer of the Bound Flesh, and his life would never be the same.
