Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: Crap! Things Just Got Serious!

"Go! Let's follow him and test him again!" Lei Zhangming thought for a moment and called his henchmen to continue trailing Wu Liang.

He wanted to see if this guy was really an Awakened. Although his reaction just now didn't seem like something an ordinary person could do, there wasn't any sign of an Awakened Ability.

If he really was an Awakened, He Zhan didn't seem happy when he left Wu Liang's house that day, indicating that their conversation didn't go quite well.

Maybe he could seize this opportunity to recruit this guy into the gang!

"Alright, Boss Lei... Huh? Why is it getting foggy?" Wang Dawei, echoing the sentiment and preparing to leave, suddenly noticed a mysterious fog arising around them without warning.

In just a few seconds, the two were enveloped by the Mist.

The fog was so thick that it was almost impossible to see one's own hand in front of their face.

As an ordinary person, Wang Dawei looked perplexed, raising his leg to leave the spot, only to be suddenly grabbed by Lei Zhangming.

Turning to look, he found his big brother's face already looking rather grim.

"Idiot! It's only afternoon, around one or two o'clock! A fog this thick at this time? Use your brain, it's impossible!" Scolding his subordinate's stupidity, Lei Zhangming felt increasingly anxious.

Is this Wu Liang's Awakened Ability?

Or is it... a Supernatural event!?

The former would be understandable, but if it's the latter, isn't that too much of a coincidence!?

Just when they were about to continue probing Wu Liang, a paranormal event occurred to cover this area as if not wanting them to disturb Wu Liang.

"Forget it, better safe than sorry. If it's really a Supernatural event, that would be a huge deal!"

Ultimately, Lei Zhangming still worried there might be a Fierce Ghost, so after calling his henchman, his arm turned red again, and a flame abruptly rose from his fingertips.

Cautiously, they used the small light from the flame to move forward.

The two attempted to find their way out through the Mist, little by little.

Unbeknownst to them, from the shadow on the treetop, they merely circled around the tree where they had been hiding, never straying more than five meters away.

To passersby, the dense fog hardly seemed to exist at all!

Just two fools circling a big tree.

"Heh, Li, the car over there has nearly cooled down, let's wrap up the interview and leave," Wu Liang said to Li Guoqiang with a smirk, guessing that those two spying on him, and even taking action, wouldn't be able to leave the woods anytime soon.

He'd sensed a discomfort from being watched shortly after leaving the TV station.

While speeding towards the crematorium, appearing to show off his driving skills, Wu Liang was actually observing which car was tailing him closely.

As soon as he entered the largely desolate crematorium area, that car quietly departed as if its mission was complete.

So, chatting with Li Guoqiang, he maintained a high level of vigilance, which let him quickly notice the abnormalities on the road and tires.

"You're a bit too gutsy, aren't you! Just leave when things get risky like that!"

Li Guoqiang still grumbled about Wu Liang's reckless behavior.

But Wu Liang had already pushed open the door to the reception room, gearing up to interject himself into the argument between two families.

Since he had already preemptively acted, Li Guoqiang couldn't very well reprimand Wu Liang in front of outsiders, so he had no choice but to help him complete the interview task.

However, the whole interview process was anything but smooth.

The argument between the relatives of the case's male and female parties was intense, making it extremely difficult to conduct a peaceful interview.

About twenty minutes passed without either of them managing to complete a proper interview.

They could only film some filler shots for the report and attempt to communicate.

"Li, you keep chatting with them, I'm going to take some exterior shots," seeing how slow the communication was progressing, Wu Liang made a feeble excuse to leave the reception room with a somewhat grim expression.

He stepped outside and took a deep breath.

"Something's off! Why is it more than one?"

The interview wasn't really on his mind because, as soon as he entered, Wu Liang had noticed something terrifying.

Also present in the reception room were a few elders—the man's mother and the victim woman's parents.

From the collars of these three elderly people's clothes, faint signs of shrouds could be seen!

After rushing out of the reception room, Wu Liang quickly toured all the openly accessible areas of the crematorium.

He discovered that nearly all of the elderly here had anomalies around their collars—adding up to seven or eight people!

"Does that mean ever since the elder from the man's family committed a violent act and died suddenly, the Fierce Ghost erupted, and all the elders who visited the crematorium from yesterday to today have been possessed?"

This revelation made Wu Liang's expression grow even grimmer.

He initially thought only the Minister's family elder was affected; he didn't expect the impact would be this large.

Although foot traffic at the crematorium wasn't particularly high, at least a dozen elders must have come by over these past two days!

If, among these dozen, someone suddenly died due to the sudden eruption of evil thoughts, would they too become new sources of Fierce Ghost possession and infection?

Then it would spread from one to ten, ten to a hundred, a hundred to a thousand.

"Damn, this situation seems to be getting serious."

If it takes until the Official Awakened notice something's wrong, it might already be too late.

But... he also had no way to notify the authorities!

This shroud could only be seen by him, and others are unaware of its danger.

Wu Liang involuntarily shook his head and sighed, "Sigh~ Who would've thought I'd talk about leaving behind the helping complex and respecting others' fates during the day, only to have to figure out how to sort out this mess eventually."

He indeed could watch strangers get unlucky with indifference, but that didn't mean he could ignore a possibly hugely menacing Fierce Ghost running rampant.

Mostly, it was because he couldn't tolerate the blatant presence of a Fierce Ghost in front of him, making him think he couldn't handle it!

"It's just a matter of having everyone possessed willingly take off and burn the shrouds, isn't it? It's not like I can't do it!" A flash of fierceness glinted in Wu Liang's eyes.

To get all these people to burn the Shouyi Ghosts in the shortest time, there was only one way.

He tapped his forehead lightly and took out the Ghost Compendium.

A fearsome, bone-chilling blue-purple mask was summoned by him.

This was his Fierce Ghost—Nightmare's Supernatural entity!

After tucking the mask into his clothes, Wu Liang whispered, "Nightmare, later when I point at someone, you mark them with a nightmare mark."

As soon as he finished speaking, Wu Liang casually pointed at an elderly person who had just stepped out of the reception room.

The eyehole of the mask in his clothes flickered briefly, indicating the mark had been made.

Wu Liang nodded in satisfaction.

Tonight, he would let those possessed know what it means to be haunted by nightmares.

He guaranteed they'd wake up the next morning and furiously rid themselves of their shrouds as if their lives depended on it!

It's just that these old folks, experiencing such fright in their twilight years, is truly unfair...
