Goodness, Zhang Chen dug for a whole day, and only when he was about to leave did he realize that his experience points had barely accumulated to three thousand.

[Name: Zhang Chen]

[Skill 1 (Tier 2): Light of the True God (0/5000)]

[Skill 2 (Unranked): Dragon Qi (0/2000)]

[Points: 3050]

Zhang Chen looked at the three thousand and fifty points, and then at his already red and swollen palm, frowning: "Excavation is getting harder and harder. If this continues, the digging progress won't improve, and upgrading to tier 2 skills could take years."

"Luckily there's the stone tablet to help, but I don't know the origin of that stone tablet." Zhang Chen muttered, then carried his basket all the way to the creek to wash up, only to see the creek in front of him, frowning even deeper: "The water level of the creek has dropped even more than yesterday, how could this be?"

Zhang Chen washed the dirt off his body, then looked at the receding creek, a look of seriousness in his eyes: "The situation is bad! The moisture in Heaven and Earth is continuously decreasing, which is not a good sign. Once a drought year hits, no one's life will be easy."

Zhang Chen washed for a while, then carried the basket towards the direction of the beehive. He walked straight to the beehive's location, chopped up the wild chicken he hunted in the morning, carefully cut a chicken leg into rice grain-sized meat pieces, and scattered them in front of the beehive.

That's right, the hornets eat meat! The aroma of the meat attracted countless hornets, which swarmed out to feast on the meat pieces.

Watching the hundreds of hornets devouring the meat pieces, a thought arose in Zhang Chen's mind:

"If I could bring the hornet's nest back home, it would be much safer. If anyone dared to trouble me, I would just summon the hornets from the house and make sure they suffer a huge loss."

Looking at the hornets, Zhang Chen shook his head, knowing it was just a fantasy. Hornets thrive on their speed during the day; if people find out where the hornets' nest is, they could burn them all with a fire at night.

"So I still need to find a stronger species, hornets are just a temporary measure." Zhang Chen fed the hornets for a while, then cleaned up the meat on the ground to avoid attracting any predators, before turning to leave.

Within two kilometers of where the hornets resided, there were basically no mice or other small animals because these small creatures couldn't withstand the hornets' hunting.

Arriving at the cave, Zhang Chen started the process of making explosives again. After spending half a day, Zhang Chen came out of the cave looking pleased, clearly having had a fruitful day.

However, as he exited the cave, Zhang Chen glanced back at the natural cave, feeling a bit uneasy: "Although this place is seldom visited, one cannot prevent hunters or villagers from stumbling in. If they discovered my explosives, it would be a big trouble. If I could move the hornets here to guard the cave, having these killer bees would ensure those common people wouldn't dare approach easily."

"Getting the hornets to nest here is actually quite simple. During the hornets' swarming period, besides having a suitable living environment, you just need to smear honey on the desired nesting place and pair it with meat pieces. With ample food, the hornets will naturally choose to nest here." Zhang Chen's eyes showed a hint of contemplation.

However, honey is considered a luxury in this era, not something ordinary people can afford, reserved for real nobles only.

"Or should I just dig it out and move the whole beehive?" Zhang Chen thought about it for a while but couldn't come up with a good idea, so he went downhill to check his traps for prey.

The traps hadn't missed; he'd caught two frogs.

Zhang Chen carried the two frogs back home, but today he didn't see the white-haired Fox Spirit or Zhang Chen at the front door. Still, he habitually hung the food on the wall and returned to his house, pondering the forthcoming drought and the matter of relocating the beehive.

"Strange, why haven't I seen that Fox Spirit today?" Zhang Chen lay on the bed thinking for a while, suddenly feeling something was amiss. He got up, came to the fire wall, poked open the hole with a small stick, and the next door's snores rumbled like thunder. He saw the white-haired Fox Spirit sleeping in an extremely unrefined sprawled-out position, snoring loudly.

Zhang Chen didn't know that last night, the Fox Spirit and Zhang Chen stayed up all night, so today they didn't get out of bed during the day.

Seeing the Fox Spirit drooling in that sprawled-out pose, an image of a stunning girl clad in white came to Zhang Chen's mind, sleeping sprawled out and drooling, which made his heart skip a beat. He sealed the hole again.

"Do Fox Spirits all sleep like that? Honestly, the Fox Spirit's sleeping posture... it's indescribable!" Zhang Chen went back to his bed, preparing his energy and pondering the plan for tomorrow.

With steady breaths, golden light flowed around Zhang Chen's abdomen, illuminating half of it, like a small lantern. The golden light harmoniously interacted with the outside world with each breath.

Just as Zhang Chen was in a half-awake state, sounds of pots and pans clashing suddenly came from next door, startling Zhang Chen awake. He knew the Fox Spirit and Zhang Chen were awake and cooking.

"Hmm~"

Zhang Chen glanced at the wall; the prey he had hunted remained untouched by the Fox Spirit.

"Why hasn't the Fox Spirit taken the prey?" A trace of surprise flickered in Zhang Chen's heart.

But he didn't think much about it, believing it might be because Zhang Chen was at home, making it awkward for the Fox Spirit to act.

At night

Zhang Chen dozed off, but suddenly the sky outside grew overcast, dust and stones flew as the ground shook, and a red light appeared outside the courtyard, landing directly in front of Zhang Chen's house.

"Damn it! He's here again!" Zhang Chen looked at the paper casting red light on the table, a look of terror in his eyes. He grabbed a stick beside him, focusing on the red light reflecting on the window paper, his gaze filled with fear.

"Brother Zhang Chen, open the door, I've brought you some prey!" A knocking sound was heard, and Zhang Chen's voice came from outside, sounding exactly the same as Zhang Chen's.

"This..." Inside the house, Zhang Chen was stunned. Had he not been at odds with the neighbor to an extreme degree, he might have believed the lie outside the door.

The Little Fox's expression also turned grim at this moment: "Damn, that guy can imitate people now, even deceive! His abilities have grown stronger!"
