Chapter 50 - Chapter 18: Recuperate and Nourish Vitality! The Chaotic Times Arrive

These remnants of the polytheism, now hiding in the east and the west, are trying to evade the pursuit of the Inquisition Court. Crow Queen Triss, on the other hand, is trying to find a place where they can survive because of the prophecy's dark future.

As for the celibacy vow of Crow Queen Triss, the polytheism still has some goddesses who remain unsullied despite being in the mud, represented by those few Virgin Goddesses.

Normally, after Jupiter's era, it should have belonged to those slightly orthodox polytheistic Divine Spirits' times. (For example, Artemis, Athena, etc.)

But unexpectedly, the monotheism rose and wiped them all out.

.........

Severus had a fever.

There was no other way at the moment but to tough it out himself.

Although this era has supernatural power, it doesn't have the kind of priests in a fantasy world that can heal ailments, unless someone can find that legendary holy relic, like the Holy Grail. If Severus could have a cup, he might soon bounce back with vigor.

The Druids don't have any healing magic either; their era ended a long time ago when Caesar massacred many Druid priests in the Gaul Region.

Severus knows some ancient Druid rituals, which may have ritual magic that can heal injuries, but he is now unconscious and can't heal himself. The traditional polytheistic faith in the Gaul Region is now basically extinct.

"Let's see if you're tough enough to survive, brother." Duncan takes care of the severely injured Severus every day.

Most of the priests in the church are ordinary people.

Even during the time when Saint Apostles roamed and preached, the church only had a few people with the name 'Saint' who were said to be able to heal others' ailments.

Not only has Crow Queen Triss's power diminished, but even the monotheism rarely sees a 'Saint' now. (People with the name of Saint.)

The good news is that two days later, Severus finally recovered from his fever and regained consciousness.

This Druid is as strong as a barbarian. Although he was very weak, he eventually regained consciousness and it wasn't just a brief rally before death.

"Water..."

A hoarse voice woke Duncan up.

He quickly put down his notebook, glanced at the awakened Severus, and immediately brought over a water bag.

——Day eleven of the journey: 67 heads.

This bandit stronghold is located in a remote area, still relatively safe, and no one was left alive at the time. The enemy might not catch up and might not dare to pursue further.

As soon as Severus awoke, the other two witches hurried over.

The combat ability in the group is limited. Besides Duncan, only Severus can fight in close quarters. Crow Queen Triss can explode with power, but at a great cost, leaving her weak for two whole days, and still facing backlash. The witch, Anya, is just a vase, purely providing financial support, and it's still unclear if this two-star whiteboard witch has any special abilities.

"His injuries have improved a lot." Crow Queen Triss breathed a sigh of relief.

Duncan had already known this.

He had just entered a god's eye view, seeing Severus's mark had changed to 'severely injured,' with the 'dying' negative status gone.

"With a little more recovery time, he should be able to continue the journey."

A Druid is a Druid after all. After waking up, Severus could barely get out of bed and walk on the second day, and by the third day, he could walk slowly. This guy's physique is indeed very strong, possibly due to some supernatural factors, as he once asked Duncan to take him to the abandoned 'Druid's Circle'.

The group rested in the bandit stronghold for seven days before finally setting off again for Great Britain.

However, they also took along a female slave.

The other farmers were dispersed, and Duncan managed to procure a few horses, adding eight more heads to his notebook, heading towards the direction of the smaller Germania.

During this time, the outside world became increasingly tumultuous, with both Upper and Lower Pannonia having fallen.

And there's worse news: one of the nomadic tribes, the Vandals, are restless, seemingly planning to fish in troubled waters due to the chaos in the empire. Historically, the Vandals sacked Rome, burning and looting the city for two weeks, nearly destroying this ancient city.

Anya was quick to flee. If she stayed to await her fate, even if not killed by the Inquisition Court's pursuit, she would be seized and abused by the Vandals.

No matter which dynasty falls, the families and women of those aristocrats cannot escape their fate of being treated as playthings.
