Is the Church really that powerful?
Indeed.
It's only been a few hundred years since the Son of God walked the earth. If any Holy Relics truly exist, they're likely in the hands of the Church now.
"Let me think about what other sacred items the Church might have."
"Golden Ark of the Covenant, Turin Shroud, Holy Grail, Holy Foreskin, True Cross, Lance of Longinus, Holy Nail, Holy Crown of Thorns, Holy Cloth, Holy Robe, Holy Bone, Holy Image, Scarab Beetle..." (Yes, it's the foreskin you think it is.)
"Damn!"
"That's a bit much."
The Hermitage Holy Hall guardian bears the mark of the "Blood of the Holy Grail." The last person I saw with a similar mark was Demon Hunter George.
"Is the Lance of Longinus still here?"
"And the Holy Grail."
Many thoughts flashed through Duncan's mind at this moment. There's no doubt that these Inquisition Court members are the most dangerous enemies he has encountered so far.
The Inquisition Court was secretly established in 394 AD.
It came into existence in this world much earlier than the historical Inquisition. In that year, the Olympian flame was extinguished, the ancient Olympic Games were banned, the doors of the Pantheon were shut tight, Monotheism entered a glorious period, and it started persecuting Polytheism as heresy.
However, during this period, the Inquisition Court did not target ordinary people; they focused on gradually eliminating the remnants serving Polytheism.
From Priest witches to Essence Immortal Spirits, all fell under the jurisdiction of the Inquisition Court.
The entire Italian peninsula and Greek regions could no longer find the various mythical Immortal Spirits that were active a few hundred years ago. This is why the forest demoness of Pannonia, the only survivor, sought help from Crow Queen Triss. As one of the creatures from ancient Greek mythology, she was also on the Inquisition Court's list.
Crow Queen Triss was quite alert. She looked at Duncan's serious expression and quietly asked, "What's going on?"
Duncan didn't know how to explain and could only say, "I feel danger approaching."
With that, Crow Queen Triss actually believed him.
In her view, Duncan was precisely the sort of warrior with particularly strong spirituality. People like him often have a keen intuition for danger.
The group had just stepped out of the inn.
They were met with Anya and others galloping towards them; there was a special connection seemingly between witches. Crow Queen Triss immediately looked over while Anya also raised her head, instantly spotting Triss among the crowd.
However, Crow Queen Triss's face soon changed, and she said nervously, "The Hermitage people!"
Part of the Inquisition Court is composed of monks from the Hermitage, a system originating from Egypt, reigning under the principle of asceticism and devotion. Many within are extremely fanatical believers.
Legend has it that there are two Holy Grails.
One is missing, and the other is in the hands of the Hermitage. But whether it's true or not, no one knows which one is real.
"Go!"
Duncan pulled Crow Queen Triss onto a horse. Anya and others, just passing through the market, sensed something wrong and, soon under the protection of knight guards, the two-star whiteboard witch mounted and followed.
Two-star whiteboard.
This power might seem insufficient and might not even win against that one-star silver-gray Hermitage monk.
After all, those marked with a silver-gray star are all elite units.
Crow Queen Triss turned to Anya and said intensely, "You're being followed!"
"It's people from the Inquisition Court."
On the horse across, under the hood of the cloak, was a strikingly beautiful woman, with dark red hair, about thirty years old, with sculpted features and a high bridge nose, resembling the beautiful women in ancient Greek sculptures. Her plump lips were tightly pressed as she said fearfully, "I... I don't know..."
"I was very careful on my way here!"
She seemed quite terrified of the Inquisition Court. Since the last emperor who supported Polytheism, Heretic Julian, died, these aristocrats adhering to Polytheism were already scared out of their wits. Those not bound by family ties had long shifted allegiance to Monotheism.
Anya even considered abandoning everything and fleeing overseas, knowing she would eventually appear on the Judgement Court's list.
Her ancestors were confidants and close friends of Heretic Julian.
Duncan cut off the two witches' conversation and interjected, "Let's talk while we move!"
Any delay would make them even more passive.
Crow Queen Triss was noticeably more composed; gripped an ancient sacrificial stone, she seemed to whisper some incantations, while the face of two-star whiteboard Anya showed fear and anxiety, appearing less like a powerful witch and more like a startled Roman noblewoman.
"Law of Cause and Effect doesn't include this witch's existence. Is she dead here?"
Despite being one of the founders of the Witch Gathering, weak as she was, her status was still quite esteemed.
Duncan glanced back.
The Inquisition Court people were already pursuing them, but this was a town, and they seemed apprehensive about acting indiscriminately, which gave them the chance to flee. Duncan and three others, along with Anya and three knight guards, all rushed out of Paris, entering the wilds outside the town.
Upon entering the wilderness, a Hermitage monk made a praying gesture, and the next second, all their warhorses started to gallop wildly, as if given a stimulant.
Someone's cheating!
From Duncan's omniscient perspective, seeing the opponents' horses behaving as if doped, he instantly sensed a hint of danger.
