In the eyes of God.
Duncan and his entourage hid within the nearby shrubs. The Druid had specially concocted herbs to mask their scent.
Severus said in a deep voice, "That monster is very thirsty, it will definitely come back."
The witch, wearing a fur coat, squatted less than twenty centimeters from Duncan and said in a concentrated tone, "Doesn't the church have Witch Hunters?"
"Why don't the villagers ask the church for help?"
Severus responded, "Something happened in Dacia."
"The Huns destroyed the Barbarian Race's temple to the great deity in Sarmatia, and even burned the Holy Sanctuary to the ground."
"It's said that legendary monsters appeared in the flames."
"But it was soon repelled by the Huns, and the monster fled into the land of the Goths."
"To spread the faith among the Goths, the church has dispatched all nearby Witch Hunters there."
Are the Huns really that fierce?
Duncan also didn't know the level of the legendary monster that appeared, but unless it was linked to the Mythical Era, they might not actually be able to defeat the Hunnic army.
Crow Queen - Triss frowned tightly and asked, "What about those Amazonian Priestesses?"
Severus replied in a deep voice, "They've probably all been killed by the Huns."
The Amazonian Warriors of Greek mythology actually lived in regions like Little Asia, Phrygia, and Thrace, having no real connection to the Amazon River in South America. This branch of the nation ultimately settled in Sarmatia, where quite a few female warriors still reside today.
In this era, the Sarmatian female warriors were quite renowned.
But they should have been utterly destroyed by the Huns. Under the immense pressure from the Huns, even the Empire had to collaborate with the Barbarian Race to resist their invasion.
The Goths had already been driven to chaos by the Huns.
They initially accepted the Arian Sect faith, but the church condemned this doctrine as heresy, sparking internal conflicts within the church. Now, the church is so eager to help the East Goths, probably to thoroughly erase the heretical doctrine's influence among the Goths.
While secular regimes fought fiercely, the church continued sending missionaries to Barbarian areas, even to regions conquered by the Huns, where Catholic missionaries were present.
"Although it's a parallel world, the general historical trends should not differ much."
Duncan frantically recalled the history he had learned, organizing a relatively clear timeline.
"The first node on the timeline should be the Han-Xiongnu century-long war."
"After the Xiongnu migrated west, they integrated with other ethnic groups in Europe and Asia, gradually forming new Hunnic tribes." [Note: Strictly speaking, the Huns were no longer considered true Xiongnu because their tribes underwent multiple integrations, albeit retaining some customs and ethnic characteristics.]
"As their power grew stronger, they began their invasion of the Western world."
"The first battle was to destroy the strong Alan Kingdom."
"When I clashed with the Hunnic Eagle Shooter, the enemy included Alanian Vassal Army."
"The second battle saw the Huns, alongside the conquered Alanians, destroy the East Gothic Kingdom established by the Germanic people."
"In a recent battle, I remember there were Gothic Vassal Cavalry."
"After the Huns destroyed the East Goths, they turned to deal with the Western Goths, forcing them, numbering in hundreds of thousands, to cross the Danube River and flee into the Roman Empire. The Goths later dealt a great defeat to the Roman Emperor, shaking Rome's foundations, Rome then struggled to control and govern its vassals and territories."
The Huns drove the Western Goths into desperate retreat, and in the subsequent rebellion, the Western Goths dealt a crushing defeat to the Roman Imperial army, even trapping the Roman Emperor Valens in a wooden hut and burning him alive.
This was the prologue to the downfall of the Empire.
"Because it's a parallel world, many details may differ."
"But this is certainly the active period of God's Whip - Attila. Essentially, the Hunnic Empire composed of Hunnic tribes has already emerged."
Perhaps due to the existence of supernatural powers, the timeline for the demise of various other forces was slightly delayed, dragging out the Empire's struggle for survival.
"Fortunately, I've played many Barbarian Invasion era games before."
Duncan gradually sorted out the era's timeline, which allowed him to roughly predict the world's forthcoming changes.
The fall of the Western Roman Empire, and the advent of the Middle Ages.
Within the Dimension Space.
A slight change occurred in the projection screen before Duncan, followed by the gradual emergence of a line of characters.
"Anchor the historical node."
"Parallel Universe - Middle Earth."
"Activate Legendary Level."
"The Legendary Level possessed by the Human Form No. 1 can be used to strengthen its own soul and, after severing the Human Form link, elevate its corresponding Human Form's rank, allowing it to ascend into legendary Heroic Spirits, Saints, Demons, Angels, Demigods, Divine Spirits, or other supernatural beings."
"The faction you join will influence the source of your Legendary Level acquisition and further ferment within the future of history."
—— Legendary Level: 0.
A symbol resembling currency appeared at the top of the projection page. When Duncan's consciousness landed on it, a specialized field quickly appeared.
—— "Roman Legendary Level: 0."
—— "Germanic Legendary Level: 0."
—— "Celtic Legendary Level: 0."
—— "Hunnic Legendary Level: 0."
[Note: You are in the post-Mythical era Middle Ages. The faction Legendary Level you possess will influence the future a millennium ahead. If the corresponding legends disappear from history entirely, the No. 1 Human Form will not be able to enhance through subsequent Legendary Levels.
