Mason Nightshade was worried she might fall asleep and wake up hungry in the middle of the night.
He went over and turned on the TV for her.
He softly reminded her, "If you get sleepy, just watch some TV. I'll have the food ready soon. Call me if you need anything, okay?"
Aurelia Shaw opened her eyes slightly, "Mason, you can cook?"
Mason nodded.
"When did you learn?" she asked, her eyes sparkling.
Mason was momentarily dazed, then replied, "I learned in the military. I may not match a top chef, but my skills aren't bad. If you like it, I can cook for you every day."
His voice was deep and indulgent.
Aurelia lowered her gaze, her long eyelashes hiding her eyes. A faint smile appeared on her lips, "I really don't know you at all. Maybe I never truly did from the beginning."
"If you want to know me, you can do so anytime," Mason said.
For some reason, hearing her say that, even though her voice was steady, he heard a hint of sadness.
He felt a wave of panic inside.
