Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: She Was Reborn!

The sharp, dull pain gradually pulled Aurelia back to consciousness from a long sleep. She opened her eyes and found herself lying on a hospital bed, one leg in a cast and suspended, her head still dizzy and aching, wrapped in a bandage. A man's chilling reproachful voice came from behind the curtain:

"Accident? My wife is lying unconscious on a hospital bed, and you want to brush me off with the word accident?" Cold, bone-chilling. The man curled his lips slightly, the arc dangerous and cold.

"You'd better pray my wife is alright, otherwise, you will all pay with your lives!"

People stood there nervously, who would have thought that an eighteen-tier starlet was Mason Nightshade's wife?! Who knew that a Young Madam from a wealthy family experiencing life would end up like this, how unlucky!

"Mr. Nightshade... none of us anticipated this, the wire rope has never had issues before, and it is always checked prior to use! Who knew this time, this time..." The director wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, standing under the sharp glare, he could only brace himself to explain.

Mason Nightshade laughed coldly, "Alexander!"

"Mr. Nightshade." A man in a suit and glasses stepped forward.

"Get to the bottom of this, it's best no one's behind it, but if I find any foul play..." His words paused, a cold glance sweeping over the people standing before him, he said in a deep voice: "Cut off their hands and feet and feed them to the dogs!"

Mason Nightshade?

Aurelia suddenly woke up, leaping up from the bed but the sudden movement pulled her wounds, and she gasped in pain. The man hurriedly walked in behind the curtain, seeing her awake, he quickly sent someone to call the doctor, then walked briskly towards her.

Aurelia looked up, meeting Mason Nightshade's gaze, and for a moment, their eyes locked, and Mason paused, the air around them seemingly frozen.

Aurelia couldn't believe her eyes as she looked at the face before her!

No matter how many times she saw this face, it was always stunning, handsome yet indifferent, with slightly furrowed brows as if showing a faint concern. But upon closer inspection, there was nothing there, like a water mirage, a dream from which no one could enter his heart.

In the past, Aurelia looked at this face with admiration, but now, her heart only ached painfully.

Mason only paused for a moment, then walked over, bent down, and, staring at her pale, sickly face, softened his tone: "How are you feeling? Anywhere uncomfortable? Still dizzy?"

Such false concern!

Aurelia didn't think deeply about why Mason's attitude had suddenly changed for the better, sneering coldly, and replied sharply, "Uncomfortable? Of course, I'm uncomfortable! What? Now that your conspiracy has failed, do you want to try to harm me again?"

Seeing Mason, Aurelia naturally assumed she was still alive.

Thinking that Eleanor Spencer's scheme had failed once more, Aurelia didn't know whether to feel more joy or find it laughable and pathetic.

Mason's heart tightened, staring at her little face, nervously reaching to wipe her forehead's cold sweat, gently saying: "Did you have a nightmare? Don't be afraid, I'm here with you, nothing will happen."

Aurelia pushed Mason away, looking at his puzzled face, she sneered coldly, "Why are you still putting on this false act? Do you still want to hide your crimes now? Dare you say these needles..."

The voice abruptly stopped.

Aurelia stared blankly at her rolled-up sleeves, revealing her slender arm.

The long, fair arm, so delicate one could see the tiny blood vessels beneath the skin, although bruised, was clearly caused by blunt force trauma, and the once horrifying and detestable needle marks had all vanished!

How is this possible!

Could it be fake?

No, according to Mason, she had only been unconscious for one day and night, he couldn't have just made those needle marks disappear!

Something must have happened! Something must have gone wrong somewhere!

Aurelia pulled back the covers, her feet were fully exposed, originally covered with chilblains, now smooth and delicate, toes shyly curling as if trying to hide.

What on earth happened?

Why is this happening?

"Aurelia, don't scare me, what's wrong with you? Was it a nightmare? Did you hit your head when the wire broke? Does it still hurt? Gustavo Yates, call a doctor!"

Aurelia was still in shock, not even registering what Mason said, she just lay down quietly. Soon, a doctor came to give her a thorough examination, and seeing the young doctor performing her check, she was once again shocked.

She had seen him before!

Two years ago, when she had an accident with the wire on set, her right leg was severely injured, and he was the attending physician at that time.

Mason also mentioned a wire accident just now, could it be that she... she has been reborn?

Everything seemed to tell Aurelia that she had really been reborn.

Looking at the time, she should have been reborn to just after she married Mason, before Eleanor Spencer intervened between them, her child wasn't lost, her father wasn't killed, and the Shaw Family hadn't gone bankrupt, affecting many people.

Aurelia covered her face with both hands, wanting to laugh but unable to, a bitter taste spreading through her chest.

If Heaven had let her be reborn, why not before meeting Mason, even if just the day before they got married.

She would definitely stay far away from this man, not allowing the Shaw Family to suffer because of her.

Her life wouldn't be completely ruined by this man.

"Aurelia?" Mason looked at the tears flowing from her fingers, his heart suddenly tightened, he reached out, wanting to wipe away her tears, "Are you in pain? Don't worry, the doctor will be here soon..."

"Pa——"

Mason's hand was slapped away.

Aurelia's body tensed instantly, her face turning aside, avoiding his searching gaze, as she wiped her tears, lightly saying: "I'm fine, just had a nightmare, a terrifying nightmare, but it's over now."

Mason didn't know whether he believed her words or not, his avoided hand lingered in mid-air for a moment before withdrawing, his eyes fixed unwaveringly on her slender back, his deep eyes seemingly hiding years of vicissitudes.
