Su Ziyu now confirmed that the area around the hotel was a street for white people.
Because on this street, you could hardly see a trace of black people; their territory was on the other side, where white people would not easily approach. Overall, Old Bob's side gave a pretty good feeling, at least nobody would start a fight openly. Polaris seemed to be built on the ruins of some relic, with the true core area guarded within those walls, and Su Ziyu didn't know what was inside, nor did Pasha reveal any intention to take him in.
Unless he explicitly agreed to join the organization called 'Freelancer.'
The scavengers in the camp started getting ready to set off. In this wasteland era, with a sparse population, the faster method than producing on their own was to excavate the heritage of the Old World.
Because that was the vast wealth left behind by 6.5 billion people!
Even just recovering a part of it is enough to sustain the people now. But this scavenging behavior is also equally dangerous, because cities are filled with all kinds of radiation-mutated creatures, and there are some dangerous pollution sources. The nuclear technology of the old era had developed to a very high level, and the energy supply systems in many cities were nuclear-powered.
On the technology tree, this world seemed to have already unlocked controlled nuclear fusion, and micro nuclear batteries are proof of that.
The Hourglass of Time is still flowing slowly.
Su Ziyu's stay in this world would be a bit longer; according to the current speed of the hourglass's flow, he might need to be here for about twenty days. He currently didn't have any urgent tasks, so his main focus was on gathering news and collecting information about this world.
In the last world, upon accidentally activating the data stream on the Hourglass of Time, Su Ziyu heard a woman who claimed to be from Atlantis saying to him that whether he liked it or not, the Hourglass of Time would lead him to find those indescribable horrors. At that time, Su Ziyu was a bit puzzled because in the first world, he encountered dinosaurs, did nothing at all, and was hungry for three days; in the second world, he was captured by those snake people and kept in a cage for six days, with no chance to make contact with the outside world. Only in the third world did he encounter things that could perhaps be called 'indescribable horrors.'
Frankly speaking, thinking back now to the monsters he encountered then still makes Su Ziyu somewhat fearful!
Because he couldn't fully understand the existence of these monsters, surviving was partly due to luck. Currently, he could analyze that they seem to affect a person's spirit, control one's thoughts; Rote was obviously controlled by that monster, but why he was controlled, Su Ziyu was not quite sure of the reason.
The one-eyed man's cause of death might be because he dug out the Eye Gem on the statue, but why it ultimately chose to possess Rote, he did not know.
First of all, there were many people who entered the cave that day.
Su Ziyu and Lina had also been in there; he had even interacted with that eerie statue, but all along he only felt a slight feeling of heart palpitations and oppression, nothing particularly unusual. Lina acted a bit strange for a while, but later seemed to recover; meanwhile, Kain was very calm and rational throughout, making a significant contribution to their survival, although in the end, Kain chose to abandon Su Ziyu. That creature's interference in controlling one's mind might have specific conditions; if hypothesizing boldly, there must be some obvious mental vulnerability for it to take advantage.
The one-eyed man's death could be attributed to greed; among so many people, he was the only one who dared to dig out the Eye Gem from the statue.
But why, in the end, was it Rote?
Su Ziyu couldn't quite understand it.
Another very important matter was the thing he saw last night; Su Ziyu still wasn't sure if it was a person. During the day, he went to have another look, but the alley was empty; there weren't even traces of someone having laid there. And no one knew where that black man had run off to; at any rate, he hadn't been seen today, but that woman who blew him a kiss before was spotted.
That woman wore an expression of delightful debauchery after a night of revelry and didn't forget to flirt with him when she saw him.
Time flew swiftly.
In the afternoon, Pasha arrived at the hotel; she looked prettier than yesterday, seemingly having dressed up, even wearing light makeup.
"Are you adapting well?" Pasha gently lifted her falling hair and asked with slightly parted red lips.
She had applied lipstick today, which she definitely hadn't the day before.
"It's okay," Su Ziyu nodded and stood up, walked over to the cabinet to take out a bottle of water marked at 30 bucks, unscrewed the Bottle Cap, and poured her a glass. It was the most expensive item on the cabinet, with the wines there costing just 15 bucks a bottle.
Pasha closed her eyes, picked up the glass of water, took a sip, and smiled, "Not bad. Old Bob didn't sell fake goods."
Can water really be distinguished between genuine and fake?
Pasha pulled out three packets of cigarettes without labels from her pocket and handed them over, which Su Ziyu accepted casually but had no intention of opening to smoke one.
"Anything you need help with?" Pasha asked softly.
Upon hearing this, Su Ziyu nodded directly and said, "I want to practice shooting. Can you teach me?"
Practice shooting?
Pasha's expression was a bit surprised; she genuinely didn't know how Su Ziyu's gun technique was since when she arrived the other day, the fight was over, and most of the fallen plunderers were killed by cold weapons, with only one guy shot dead.
"Sure," Pasha nodded, stood up, took a look at the sky, and said, "I know a suitable place."
"Shall we go now?"
Su Ziyu did not hesitate, saying, "Okay. Let's go now."
When the Hourglass of Time brought him across worlds, he could take some items along; that black short blade had always been by his side. This time, he was quite lucky; although this world was already in the Wasteland era, there were truly many things to save one's life with. He definitely had to practice his gun technique; he hoped to master it before the hourglass fully drained and figure out a way to leave with one or two powerful firearms.
In case he encountered dinosaurs again, at least he'd have some power to resist.
With his current mastery of cold weapon combat abilities, he might manage against ordinary humans, but he really stood little chance against large dinosaurs.
To live, to survive.
Only by living is there hope of returning.
Pasha took Su Ziyu out of the camp, found a modified off-road vehicle outside, and drove him to a piece of woodland. There were many targets set up there; Su Ziyu had a gun with him. He had encountered shooting before, but his gun technique was honestly not great.
Fortunately, though gun techniques are not hard to learn.
Close-range shooting, controlling the sight, and managing recoil became much easier. Su Ziyu felt he was learning quickly, better than mastering the White Crow Swordsmanship.
The most challenging part of gun technique is sniping.
Pasha only helped Su Ziyu correct his posture and explained some techniques; after practicing on his own, he could hit the target, but not yet accurately hit the bullseye. Time passed bit by bit, and Su Ziyu hadn't had enough when practice was already over.
Because he ran out of bullets.
