Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: [15 True Names]

"Why are there so few true names for the Destruction God, while others have so many?"

Ethan asked.

Especially the first three true names, Sun, Moon, Earth, are almost fully written, with Sun being the most numerous, listing as many as eight, and only one unknown, followed by the Moon and Earth.

The others are slightly less, but they each still generally have five or six.

However, starting from the tenth true name, increasingly fewer are known, and by the Destruction God, only two are known.

The last series of true names, the Transcendental, only has an introduction without even the first true name.

"Because the world is constantly changing."

Klei said, with a phrase that didn't seem like something he could come up with.

"Of course, this isn't my original thought, it's something the Eye of Truth said in one of its newspaper issues. Why are the earlier true names so detailed? Because those above the tenth true name are ancient world true names, existing long before the discovery of the New Continent, especially the first three true names, which correspond to the three oldest Ancient God worships, with a history so long it traces back thousands of years, leading to the most extensive exploration."

"Those after the tenth true name were born after the discovery of the New Continent, and the later they were born, the less they have been explored. So, the world is constantly changing, do you understand?"

Although Klei said so, he probably didn't understand.

However, Ethan had some speculations.

"So, can each series of true names be deduced up to the ninth?" The highest limit of each true name is nine.

"Currently, that's what's known, because the oldest Sun series, the Eye of Truth observed, the strongest is up to True Name Nine, the Sun."

Indeed, at the end of the Sun series, the Sun is written in the common language, as for the ancient language, there is none.

It seems there is something crucial contained in the ancient language.

Thinking of this, Ethan suddenly recalled the scene when he bestowed the true name to Anya.

The true name he gave Anya was Believer and Master of Violence, but what Anya saw was Black Butler; she didn't understand the ancient language, so she couldn't interpret the true meaning of the true name.

Could this be the secret of the ancient language?

"Where can one learn the ancient language?" Ethan asked, rubbing the twisting texts.

"I'm not sure, the ancient language is knowledge only possessed by truly old cults and groups, like the Eye of Truth, and they don't share this knowledge."

This was expected if the ancient language truly involves the real meaning of true names.

After browsing through the true names briefly, Ethan turned to look at other pages.

Actually, other than being a newspaper only visible to those with true names, The Truth Newspaper wasn't much different from a normal paper.

Excluding the fact that The Truth Newspaper records matters of those with true names.

The headline of this issue that Klei brought was about news from the Old Continent, mentioning a small town called Butterflan where large-scale Evil God worship allegedly appeared. After the Sun Sanctuary received the news, they immediately dispatched the Sunlight Guard to take over and purify the town, leaving no survivors and no Evil God worship.

Of course, this was said by the Sun Sanctuary, according to the Eye of Truth's information, the small town might involve the resurgence of the Ancient God, and the Sun Church was possibly involved as well.

Matters of the Old Continent still felt too distant for Ethan, so he just skimmed through them.

Aside from these current events, this Truth Newspaper also had various rumors, like where ancient relics were unearthed, where witchcraft recipes were circulated, or troubles caused by demons.

There were also trade information, with people selling alchemy items, herbs, and special materials, all of which were things Ethan had never heard of.

"Do you have alchemy items, Klei?" Ethan asked with curiosity.

"Of course." Klei replied somewhat smugly, as he stretched out both hands, and in the next moment, a pair of gleaming mithril knuckles appeared on his fingers, "Mithril knuckles, level two alchemy creation, possessing the characteristics of being hard to destroy and portable. Mithril also has some ability to dispel evil. It cost me quite a bit of money."

As he spoke, he shook his hands again, and the knuckles disappeared.

So, was the so-called portable just a matter of bringing them out from wherever on his body?

"Are alchemy items only crafted by ancient creators?" Ancient creators are also one of the fifteen true names, belonging to the ancient world true names, with one of their true names being Alchemy Researcher."

"Yes, so they are the richest among those with true names. If you're interested, you can check it out at the next gathering, you might find something you want to buy."

Klei said, showing off again, making the knuckles appear on his hands, then disappear again.

Ethan stopped looking at him and continued to browse the newspaper.

However, he internally sighed in relief, if Fred and Joan had alchemy creations, it wouldn't have been so easy to kill them.

"Didn't my father have alchemy items?" Ethan suddenly thought.

"Of course, aren't you wearing one?" Klei seemed puzzled but explained, "It's something he spent a fortune on, more expensive than my knuckles, also a level two alchemy creation, with properties of being hard to destroy and storing, able to store some true name power inside, can be used as a temporary supplement or as inheritance."

"In hindsight, he was quite foresighted indeed, truly passing it down to you and saving the whole family."

Now Ethan understood why he was able to obtain the seed of the true name just by touching this ring back then.

Turns out this ring was an alchemy creation too.

Gently rubbing the ring, Ethan tentatively used his mind to sense it and injected true name power.

In the next moment, he indeed felt a portion of his true name power being absorbed.

However, he hadn't noticed yet, that as he injected his true name power, the originally dull ring took on a deeper hue, the thorns coiling around it extended sharper spikes, and the black mud became denser.

Night gradually deepened, and Ethan saw Klei out.

Klei was a bit dissatisfied, muttering, "Rascal, when your father was alive, he would always give me the best rooms and the finest wine, really now..."

Ethan ignored him, sent him off, and continued to study The Truth Newspaper.

What he mostly focused on was still that true name order list page.

Because earlier he felt a resonance between the 'True God's Name' and those ancient language scripts, once Klei left, he simply summoned 'True God's Name,' getting closer contact with the ancient language of those true names.

However, there were no more changes.

He suspected it was because he hadn't deconstructed those ancient languages.

Ancient language...

Where should he go to learn it?
