"Do you have any business here?" Du Xixi and Mo Ying sat in the living room. Seeing the other party accept the warm water brought by 2569, she gently asked.
Mo Ying smiled upon hearing this. When she looked up, she saw the girl's warm smile and clear, clean eyes, which made her feel even closer. She said with a smile, "It's like this: your Marshal is worried about you being home alone, so Mo Feng asked me to stay with you for a few days. I'll head back once they return."
Du Xixi's face was already rosy. Hearing Mo Ying's words, her face burned even more, but her heart felt sweet and happy. She quickly took a sip of water, trying to suppress this feeling.
"Madam, you seem to be shy." The outdated robot 2569 was extremely blunt, squatting nearby and stating when it saw Du Xixi's flushed face.
Du Xixi: …
Mo Ying laughed heartily. She was naturally a carefree person with a keen insight; otherwise, Ke Lian wouldn't have thought of her accompanying Du Xixi. Seeing Du Xixi's extreme shyness, she didn't tease her but instead changed the topic, "Madam, I am a few years older than the Marshal. Why don't you call me Sister Mo Ying, and I'll call you Xixi, okay?"
"Okay, Sister Mo Ying." Du Xixi was eager to move past the topic of shyness and readily accepted the ladder Mo Ying offered her.
"Hey! Xixi, hi!" Mo Ying had only one younger brother, Mo Feng, who was quite entertaining when he was young. After joining the army, all he knew was training every day, nowhere near as soft as when he was little. Now seeing Du Xixi, a delicate and pretty girl, made Mo Ying feel soft inside.
The two were both easy-going and not at all pretentious. After a few exchanges, they quickly became good friends, holding hands, confusing 2569 squatting beside them into a jumbled mess of logic.
2569: Ah... human emotions... truly incomprehensible...
Du Xixi really liked Mo Ying. After a while, she remembered she had porridge simmering on the stove. She rushed over to check, and fortunately, the heat was low. Although it was slightly burned at the bottom, it was still salvageable.
"What's this? Can it be eaten?" Mo Ying curiously leaned over, her eyes lighting up immediately as she smelled the sweet, rich aroma of the rice coming from the pot.
Du Xixi knew there weren't many tasty foods in the Star Era, so Mo Ying's reaction didn't surprise her. She just smiled in response. Seeing the porridge was almost ready, she ladled out two bowls.
"Sister Mo Ying, this is called porridge. It's... something I found in a rather old book. Although the taste is a bit bland, it's quite good. You can also add some sugar." Du Xixi said as she used a clean spoon to scoop some brown sugar in. Though she knew the difference was minor, seeing the white porridge mix with the brown sugar and change color slightly made her heart ache a bit.
I've got to spend some time these days to dredge up some Blue Star ingredients!
Mo Ying followed suit, but fearing she'd get the amounts wrong, only added a tiny bit of brown sugar.
With minute granules of brown sugar, the white porridge entered her mouth, and the slightly hot texture accompanied by the aromatic bloom of rice exploded on her tongue, with the mild sweetness interspersed, making it extraordinarily sticky sweet.
Mo Ying took mouthful after mouthful, initially blowing gently at each spoonful to cool it. Later, she paid no heed and directly shoveled it into her mouth.
Du Xixi didn't have a big appetite, so after a small half bowl, she stopped to settle her stomach. Seeing Mo Ying enjoy it, she used a large spoon to give her several more servings until the last bit of porridge in the pot went happily into Mo Ying's stomach.
Mo Ying held her bowl, smiling a bit sheepishly, "Xixi, I'm really sorry, coming over as a guest and eating so much…"
Though her mouth apologized, Mo Ying's stomach suggested there was still room for a few more bowls of porridge!
Du Xixi didn't mind at all. Notwithstanding the many big eater personalities appearing on Blue Star, Mo Ying hadn't eaten that much.
After all, Du Xixi originally cooked for one person; she just didn't have much of an appetite herself, making it seem like Mo Ying ate more.
"As long as Sister Mo Ying likes it, that's great. I'll cook some more delicious food for lunch, guaranteed you'll like it!" Du Xixi smiled as she put the pots, bowls, and chopsticks into the dishwasher while gently addressing the still self-conscious Mo Ying.
Mo Ying felt that Du Xixi at this moment was immensely understanding, speaking softly in a way that even star-era top actresses couldn't compare.
"Xixi, you're really nice…" As she spoke, Mo Ying still felt slightly uneasy inside.
Seeing her head slightly lowered, Du Xixi thought for a moment before holding her hand and leading her to the sofa, "Sister Mo Ying, I actually have some questions. Hope it's not too much trouble."
"No trouble at all! Xixi, feel free to ask anything. Sister Mo Ying won't hold back!"
Du Xixi smiled.
Although it's only been a short few days since she arrived in the Star Era, Du Xixi was certain that people in this era seemed not to have any meat in their diets?
Du Xixi decided she must get to the bottom of this.
No meat, how could anyone live!?
