Chapter 12 - Chapter 6 Braised Potato Chunks, Spicy Sour Cabbage, Cumin Potato Slices

Although it was decided to go to the Cultural Relics Bureau to "borrow some Insect Clan meat," it certainly wouldn't be right now. Du Xixi and Mo Ying chatted a bit more, and seeing that it was getting late, they stood up and spoke gently, "Sister Mo Ying, you sit here first, I'll go to the kitchen to make lunch."

Knowing there was hope for some meat, Du Xixi's mood was exceptionally good, and she was full of energy to cook now.

"Do you want me to help?" Hearing this, Mo Ying made a move to get up, but Du Xixi pressed her back onto the sofa, "No need, let me show off a bit."

Their relationship was already very good at this point. Hearing these words, Mo Ying just smiled helplessly and nodded slightly with a hint of amusement.

Du Xixi came into the kitchen and saw a variety of ingredients in the sink's basin that were even more abundant than yesterday's. She couldn't help but be taken aback, and 2569, who followed in behind her, had already responded, "Madam, these were ordered by the Marshal, they are all very fresh!"

Du Xixi smiled, touched by Ke Lian's thoughtful care, and decided that when Ke Lian returns, she would definitely make a big meal to reward him.

Du Xixi walked to the sink, looked at the vegetables, and saw that alongside the potatoes, green peppers, and small bok choy from yesterday, there were three heads of cabbage and a few eggplants.

But...

Du Xixi picked up a head of cabbage and brought it in front of her face, somewhat speechless. Is this cabbage? This is a giant vegetable! It's as big as three of her heads!

Du Xixi's mouth twitched, but seeing the potatoes nearby, she ultimately accepted it. After all, compared to the size difference with the potatoes, the change in the cabbage was still within an acceptable range.

Yesterday's potatoes were only the size of three or four adult fists, but today they were larger than Du Xixi's head. Presumably, this was also because 2569 had been diligent in selecting the freshest and best ingredients.

"2569..."

"Madam?"

"...It's nothing."

Du Xixi took a deep breath, feeling that her professional skills were still quite competent. At least, she was now calm at heart, peeling a giant potato without blinking an eye.

Since Mo Ying was there, Du Xixi decided to keep the flavor of today's lunch slightly mild, and adjust the taste after hearing Mo Ying's feedback.

As for Du Xixi's own taste preferences, she had none; whether mild or strong, she liked both.

The first dish, braised potato chunks.

In the past, when Du Xixi made braised potatoes, she chose small, whole potatoes that could be eaten in one bite. After peeling them, she would put them directly in the pot to soak in the sauce, creating a sense of happiness when eaten.

But sadly, the potatoes of the Star Era were really too big, one could stew an entire pot with just one. Du Xixi had to settle for second best, replacing the small potatoes with peeled and cut interstellar brand potato chunks.

Du Xixi casually soaked the evenly cut potato chunks in water, then mixed cooking wine, salt, a bit of vinegar, and half a spoonful of sugar together to create the sauce for seasoning and color.

A bit of oil was poured into the electric pot, and once it was preheated, the potato chunks were drained and poured in the whole bowl at once. The sound of sizzling instantly rang out, and a few droplets of oil danced in the pot and mid-air.

Du Xixi's expression remained unchanged. If a cook were afraid of these sputtering oil droplets, they would surely be unable to calmly control the heat, let alone make a delicious meal.

Du Xixi picked up the spatula and, with some effort, turned the potato chunks over. Once the surface of the potatoes was fried to a nice golden brown, Du Xixi slightly curved her lips and poured in the sauce.

She gritted her teeth and stirred again with the spatula until the potato chunks were coated in the sauce of a lovely reddish-yellow hue. She then lowered the temperature of the electric pot and covered it to let the sauce be absorbed.

Du Xixi, feeling a bit weak, put down the pot lid, then looked at her pale, weak hands and smiled helplessly.

The original person was a weak woman, literally too weak to catch a chicken. Du Xixi found cooking exhausting, probably because this body was too frail.

Making braised potato chunks wasn't too labor-intensive, and once the sauce had mostly been absorbed, Du Xixi carried a large plate and slowly ladled them out.

But after she laboriously placed the braised potatoes on the counter by the sink, Du Xixi thought that cooking this way was just too tiring, so she pondered for a moment and then turned to look at the round robot quietly squatting in the corner.
