Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Train of Thought

"Don't rush to agree just yet, think it over, this is a very time-consuming task."

Fley said seriously, "If you really want to help him with his chores, then you won't have time to handle the registration announcement tasks, I'll have someone else do it."

Registering announcements on behalf of the Fire and Earth Faction at the door of the Wizard Tower is actually a lucrative job, with no danger, leisure, and a monthly income of 20 contribution points.

Fley also thought Kateya had a good image and was his student, so he let her do it.

But now if she goes to help Lor with his chores, she won't be able to stay at the entrance of the Wizard Tower all the time, so naturally, someone else would have to do it.

Kateya hesitated for just a moment, and when she thought of several Second Ring Wizards discussing Lor's matters, she gritted her teeth and said firmly:

"Mentor, I am sure I want to be his experimental assistant."

She felt that with her aptitude, it would be hard to become an Official Wizard just by guarding the door for 20 contribution points a month, but it might be different with Lor.

"Alright, I'll go find someone to take over your job, you continue to accompany him to the Grand Library." Fley nodded, and with a slight tap of his foot, disappeared on the spot.

"The Earth Vein Traveling Technique is really convenient." Kateya looked enviously at the place where Fley disappeared.

"Unfortunately, you need to be at least a First Ring Wizard to construct the model."

At this moment, Lor opened the door and smiled at Kateya, who was still waiting, "Sorry for the wait, let's go to the Grand Library."

"It wasn't too long of a wait."

Kateya began to lead the way again, while pretending to speak casually:

"Lor, I just thought about the question you asked earlier, and I realized you seem very confident that you can improve witchcraft, you didn't even ask me what other ways there are to earn contribution points."

"Hmm, before when I was on the spaceship, I had a feeling to improve the Flame Wall a little." Lor nodded, "It should have enhanced the power a bit, but I'm not sure, let's try it out later."

After understanding the current situation at the Wizard Tower, he no longer had the idea of hiding his progress.

Swiftly earning more contribution points is his only goal now.

As long as he has enough contribution points, he can ask a Third Ring Great Wizard to take him away from this wretched place of Murphy Continent.

"I think you lack an experimental assistant, and I can be a competent one." Kateya didn't take Lor's boast seriously, but still went along with it.

"Experimental assistant?" Lor raised an eyebrow, "You really believe I can apply for a laboratory?"

"Maybe not now, but definitely in the future."

Kateya said earnestly, "I believe in your experience and the insight of Wizard Mala and others."

"And before you officially have a lab, I can help you with some chores like delivering meals, purchasing materials, saving your time."

"Then happy cooperation." Lor smiled and nodded, agreeing to Kateya's request.

He indeed needed someone to help with the chores, and with Kateya willing, plus being a Third Level Apprentice, she has some ability to solve problems.

A mutually beneficial matter, there's no need to refuse.

"Happy cooperation, Your Excellency Lor." With her goal achieved, Kateya beamed with joy.

...

Outside the Grand Library on the seventh floor of the Wizard Tower.

Lor surveyed the surroundings and found that the Grand Library had no ceiling, directly connecting to the dome of the seven-story Wizard Tower.

It's a circular building with a diameter of about two miles, with entrances and exits crowded with apprentices, no less numerous than the Wizard Tower's entrance and exit.

The only difference from the Wizard Tower entrance is that they're all wearing Bicolor Wizard Robes.

"This is the Dual Element Apprentice Library on the seventh floor."

Kateya pointed to the library ahead and introduced, "Inside, it's divided into three floors, with Earth-Water, Earth-Wood, and Earth-Fire dual-element apprentice-level witchcraft models each occupying one floor."

"Our Earth and Fire Elemental Apprentice-level Witchcraft Models are on the third floor, also the floor with the fewest models."

"Then where are the Earth Attribute Apprentice Witchcraft Models?" Lor asked.

"On the sixth floor, the first to third floors are all Earth Attribute Apprentice Witchcraft Models." Kateya replied.

Lor nodded, "Okay, then take me to see the Earth Attribute Apprentice Witchcraft Models first."

His main concern now was whether there was a Microscope Witchcraft Model, which was crucial to him.

As for other things, they could be set aside for now.

"Okay." Kateya responded and led Lor with the crowd into the library, heading toward the staircase at the edge of a pile of bookshelves.

After descending the stairs, Kateya stopped and pointed to the rows of bookshelves in the library:

"Your Excellency Lor, these are all Earth Attribute Apprentice Witchcraft Models, the two floors below are the same, if you are looking for any particular model, you can tell me, I might know a bit."

"Do you have... um, a witchcraft model that can help wizards see extremely tiny objects in the Sea of Consciousness?"

Lor wasn't sure if the Microscope Witchcraft existed or if it was called that, so he described it vaguely.

"See more clearly..." Kateya frowned, deep in thought.

Lor saw that Kateya couldn't give a definite answer for a long time and couldn't help but feel a sinking heart.

The Microscope Witchcraft might not be called that now, but a Third-Level Wizard Apprentice should have at least heard of it if it existed, right?

Creating new witchcraft is indeed a troublesome task.

For optimizing a witchcraft model, you just enhance the energy points and adjust accordingly.

For future Fusion Witchcraft, you know the formulas, then adjust with energy points, it shouldn't be too hard either.

But to create new witchcraft, without a real rune model prototype, energy points are of no help.

Once you create a Rune Witchcraft prototype, it's set in stone, whether it's a success or a failure, it can't be changed.

Lor clearly wouldn't use himself as an experiment subject, so he could only have other apprentices, whose prospects are already wasted and who just want to live out their days, to help him.

That cost...

Of course, there's a solution, as Kateya previously mentioned about laboratories, which every year can allocate a certain number of wizard apprentices for experiments.

Kateya thought for several minutes but couldn't think of a suitable witchcraft, and said helplessly:

"I've never heard of such an Earth Attribute apprentice-level witchcraft, though there are Remote Detection Techniques like Eagle Eye Technique, and some beyond the First Ring, like Earth Vein Exploration Technique, Dynamic Analysis Technique, etc."

"Let's look for it first." Lor held onto a glimmer of hope, "If we can't find it in an hour, then forget it."

Techniques like Eagle Eye are all detective types, which are completely different from the Microscope Witchcraft he wanted.

"Alright." Kateya nodded and searched eastward, while Lor searched westward.

...

In a core laboratory on the twenty-seventh floor of the Wizard Tower.

Mala and a middle-aged and elderly wizard, both wearing red-yellow Bicolor Wizard Robes with two round rings on the collars, were seated around a magic array, examining the light screen on the array.

The light screen showed Lor's figure.

Behind them stood more than a dozen First Ring Wizards in red-yellow Bicolor Wizard Robes, watching with Fley prominently among them.

"Witchcraft aiding wizards to see extremely tiny objects in the Sea of Consciousness..."

Mala's eyes shone, "It's a good idea, just not sure where to start from.

"I regret more and more not pulling him into the Fire Element School back then."
