Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Wedding Night, Three Terms (Part 8)

"Big sis, loosen your grip, aren't you hot?"

"Eh? Tangtang, why are you wet?"

The words sounded misleading, and several girls passing by looked over. Tang Yanqi pinched Qi Cheng fiercely: "What nonsense are you spouting? Hurry up and get the luggage."

The first couple of days back at school were both leisurely and busy. Though the semester hadn't officially started, everyone was preoccupied with tidying up the dorms and organizing their luggage. This year's start added a new task: listening to Qi Cheng complain about her top male idol getting married.

Sitting in the school cafeteria, Qi Cheng clutched her phone, lamenting for the N+1 time, "How could he get married? How could he get married? My number one idol, he's still so young, how could he get married?"

Tang Yanqi remained silent. If Qi Cheng found out she was the eldest daughter of the Tang Family in the news, it would be a catastrophe.

Tang Yanqi had never appeared in public. Even many high-status families associated with the Tang Family had never seen what she looked like. No one knew her real name; people familiar with the Tang Family simply called her Wanwan.

Studying out of town, Tang Yanqi always gave others the impression of an ordinary child from a normal family.

"Tangtang? Tangtang?"

"Hm?"

Hearing someone call her, Tang Yanqi suddenly looked up, "What's up?"

Qi Cheng reached out to touch Tang Yanqi's forehead, "Tangtang, are you alright? Why are you zoning out?"

"Huh? I'm fine."

Bai Bing rolled her eyes nearby, "Chengzi, clearly Tangtang doesn't want to listen to your garbage talk, alright?"

"Tch, what garbage talk? Tell me, how blessed must a woman be to marry my idol?"

Tang Yanqi tucked into a piece of lettuce and swallowed, weakly uttering, "Maybe it's unfortunate."

"Hey, you don't know my idol, how would you know?"

"So, you know?"

"I..."

Qi Cheng fell silent and focused on her meal. Bai Bing and Bai Xue exchanged a glance and simultaneously gave Tang Yanqi a thumbs-up, "Tangtang, your skill at making people speechless improves every day."

"Thanks for the compliment, I'm deeply honored."

After Tang Yanqi and Sheng Jianan's grand wedding, Tang Yanqi stayed in the dorms from Monday to Friday and returned to Lake Bay Villa on weekends, as arranged by both families.

Come Friday afternoon, Tang Yanqi boarded a bus. The villa area was mostly populated by wealthy families, each owning a car, with no bus routes leading there. After getting off the bus, Tang Yanqi glanced around. It was approximately four kilometers to the villa. She checked her wallet, gritted her teeth, and decided to walk!

No one would probably believe it if they heard. The dignified heiress of the Tang Group and the Young Madam Sheng was, in fact, a pauper.

Truth be told, she had the blood of the Tang Family in her veins, but she was hardly an heiress. Before she turned six, she was a true Cinderella; afterwards, she was a Cinderella in fancy clothes.

Step by step, she trod along the sidewalk, cars constantly passing by. Tang Yanqi didn't pay them any mind. The sun overhead was blazing and intense, almost scorching enough to melt her.

After a long walk, Tang Yanqi finally couldn't take it anymore. She stopped, squatted by the roadside, and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

A short distance away, a black Bentley was smoothly driving. The person in the driver's seat saw the small figure up ahead and turned to the person in the back seat, "Brother Nan, isn't that sister-in-law?"

Sheng Jianan followed the direction the driver pointed, seeing Tang Yanqi squatting by the side of the sidewalk, looking nothing like a young heiress.
