After a long pause without hearing Michael Green continue speaking, Mr. Lawrence spoke in a deep voice.
"You, continue, continue speaking."
Michael's face was also somewhat pale.
Having lived through everything back then, he felt even more deeply how despairing that past was.
There wasn't a shred of hope.
He never understood, even though they were brothers, why it escalated to the point of life and death in the end?
Born of the same mother, no one was closer than they were.
Michael knew that, later on, Matthew Lawrence had gone mad.

Even now, he didn't know what Matthew would have done if he'd really got hold of Louis West and Abigail White then.
Would he really have taken Abigail White, who Louis West had impregnated?
Would he really have broken Louis West's legs, making him the same as himself?
Michael didn't know.
No one knew.
Because no one dared to gamble on the outcome.
To lose the bet would result in consequences more brutal than bloodshed.
