Chapter 216 - Chapter 215: Reanimation Jutsu

"So how would you be finding information about the attackers if they are dead?" Natasha asked, her voice filled with genuine curiosity.

Kakashi hesitated before speaking. "I have not done this before. It is the first time I would be using the jutsu. But I have tried to recreate this jutsu from what I know, and it is rather incomplete so I don't know if it would even work." He paused, gathering his thoughts as if preparing to dive into a complex explanation.

"I am not an expert in souls," Kakashi continued. "The technique involves precise manipulation of residual chakra signatures left in the physical remains. One must first isolate the unique spiritual frequency that lingers in cells even after death. This requires synchronizing your own chakra with the faded echoes through a series of intricate pathways in the tenketsu system. Without perfect alignment, the reanimation risks incomplete fusion or total collapse of the temporary vessel."

He went on without stopping, his voice steady but monotonous. "It also requires one hundred and twenty four hand signs, starting with the tiger seal and progressing through a sequence that includes boar, ram, and several custom variations."

"The chakra movement is crucial here. You have to circulate the energy in a spiraling pattern around the heart meridian first, then divert it to the crown chakra while maintaining a steady flow rate of at least forty units per second."

"Any deviation in the tempo could cause the soul fragment to dissipate before full integration. The sealing array on the scroll acts as an anchor, binding the reanimated form to the sacrifice's life force temporarily. This creates a bridge between the pure land and the mortal realm, but the incomplete nature means the connection lasts only a short while and drains the user significantly."

Kakashi kept lecturing, "Furthermore, the yin release component must be balanced against the yang to prevent cellular rejection. I have calculated the ratios based on prior experiments, but field application introduces variables like ambient chakra density and the target's original kekkei genkai influences. One wrong seal in the middle of the sequence, say the twenty seventh or the eighty ninth, and the entire process fails with possible backlash to the caster's own chakra coils. It is a delicate equilibrium of spiritual energy transfer, not unlike trying to thread a needle while riding a turbulent current."

"Monitoring the soul's reentry requires constant genjutsu reinforcement to stabilize the memories and prevent fragmentation. The hand signs must flow without pause, each one building on the previous to form a complete mandala of power. Chakra control at this level demands years of training, and even then, the risks include permanent drain on vitality or unintended summoning of other entities from beyond. I have noted these limitations in my personal records, but practical use remains untested until now."

The Avengers looked at each other, not comprehending one bit what he was saying. Their faces showed a mix of confusion and boredom.

Steve Rogers rubbed his forehead, trying to make sense of the words but failing. Bruce Banner shifted uncomfortably in his chair, his scientific mind usually quick to grasp concepts, but this felt like another language entirely. Tony Stark crossed his arms, a smirk fading into blank stares as the technical terms piled up.

Clint Barton looked at Bruce and Tony and said, "And here I thought you both like to flaunt your knowledge but we have a bigger nerd with us."

He grinned widely, shaking his head in amusement. "I mean, come on, guys. You two can talk quantum physics and arc reactor schematics for hours, but this masked guy just dropped one hundred and twenty four hand signs and chakra spirals like it is basic math. I am over here feeling like I slept through the entire science class. At least when you explain your gadgets, I can pretend to follow along before I tune out. This? This is next level nerd territory. I might need a nap just from listening."

Kakashi coughed, embarrassed by the reaction. He scratched the back of his head lightly and cleared his throat.

"We have some of the captured Hydra soldiers, right? Bring me one of them," Kakashi said, steering the conversation back to the task at hand.

Tony nodded as he sent a message through his suit's interface. "Creel, go bring one of those Hydra goons up here. The one in cell block B should do."

The team had been keeping the prisoners secure for days now.

They had been kept in the Avengers prison. They could not be interrogated because they had nothing to tell and their brainwashing was to the next level.

Not even Kakashi's genjutsu could get anything from them. The Hydra agents' minds were locked down tight with layers of conditioning that resisted every mental probe.

It was as if their thoughts were buried under unbreakable mental barriers. The team had hoped to keep them here to see if Hydra would panic and try to attack the Avengers Tower to either rescue their men or just kill them before they could tell anything. But it seemed that Hydra had not taken the bait. No rescue attempts came, and no assassins showed up at the doors.

"So what are you going to do with this guy?" Creel asked as he escorted the bound Hydra operative into the room.

"Before I use this jutsu, I just want to tell you that it would be better for you to never ask me to perform this jutsu on your loved ones. Let them rest in peace," Kakashi said with a little sad tone in his voice.

"What do you mean?" Tony asked, confused.

"You will soon understand," Kakashi said as he cut one of the fingers of the woman that attacked him. The action was swift and precise, done with a small kunai he produced from his pouch. He ignored the horrified gasps from the group.

He got lots of grimaced looks from the Avengers, but he ignored them as he took out a scroll with lots of symbols on it and placed the finger on it.

He then placed the scroll next to the Hydra operative. The bound soldier struggled weakly, but the restraints held firm.

He weaved hand signs in rapid succession, but there were a lot of them, so it took time. Kakashi's hands moved in a blur.

"Reanimation Jutsu," Kakashi finally muttered after completing the long series of signs.

Dust and ash wrapped around the living Hydra sacrifice, morphing them into the exact physical form of the deceased woman. The Hydra operative screamed as the process took place.

And when it was finally done, everyone looked shocked to see the supposed dead woman open her eyes. She blinked slowly at first, then sat up straighter, her body now fully formed and identical to the attacker who had died earlier.

The transformation left the Avengers speechless for a long moment.

The woman looked at Kakashi, and then her eyes widened in complete disbelief. "How... am... I alive?" Her voice trembled as she touched her own arms and face, feeling the solid reality of her body.

"You can receive the dead?" Steve Rogers asked, his voice filled with shock

"What... did you do..." Bruce Banner muttered, his eyes wide behind his glasses. He rubbed his temples, trying to process the scientific impossibility before him.

"One moment, that man was just a prisoner, and now he is her."

Natasha was already thinking of how they could use it, 'If this works on enemies, could it work on those we care about? The ones we lost too soon? But Kakashi warned us. There must be a terrible price. I have seen enough darkness to know that resurrection always demands something equally dark in return."

"What sorcery is this?" Thor boomed, his deep voice echoing off the walls.

The God of Thunder looked genuinely awed and unsettled. "In all my centuries across the realms, I have witnessed many magics, but this... this feels different."

"Is this even chakra jutsu.... This feels like the work of a god," Tony Stark said, his voice laced with both amazement and unease.
