Chapter 176 - Chapter 175: Explaining the Situation to Wanda

The X-Men and the Avengers arrived at their destination. The jet landed as everyone got out of the quinjet.

And the scene that greeted them was of a beam of red energy slamming into the air where it hit something invisible.

To everyone's surprise, the sky had literal cracks on where the beam was hitting the air.

"That is Wanda's doing. She is still at breaking the barriers between reality. Like I have told you, this means a lot to her." Erik explained the unusual scene.

"She is cracking the air like glass? How is that even possible?" Cap asked in confusion.

"That is how you break barriers between reality, Cap. At least I think that is how it is. It is my first time seeing it too," Tony said sarcastically.

"I mean, I have seen some weird stuff in my life. Most of them had been in the past year or so. And I believe that I have been using this statement a lot. But anyways, Alien invasions, gods with hammers, a guy who turns into a giant green rage monster when he gets annoyed. The sky literally cracking like cheap glass is new though."

Kakashi thought, 'Not going to lie. I thought that the Shinobi world had made me see some unusual things that can't be explained like the ten tails, Kaguya, everyone in the world falling into a genjutsu. But this takes the second spot just behind Naruto's sexy jutsu working on Kaguya.'

Erik then led them towards Wanda.

They saw a tired woman there. She looked like someone who had not slept for days. Dark circles sat under her eyes. Her red hair was messy and stuck to her forehead with sweat.

As Kakashi observed her, he verified Erik's claim. 'He is speaking the truth. She really wants to go to another universe with her kids. It would be difficult getting her to stop. We can't have someone who could bend reality mad either.'

Wanda stood in the middle of an open field with her hands raised. Red energy flowed from her palms in steady beams. The energy hit the air.

"Dad, why have you brought them here?" Wanda asked. Her voice was tired but sharp. She did not lower her hands. The red energy kept flowing.

Erik stepped forward. His face was serious. "Wanda, we need to talk. We will have to stop our plans."

Wanda frowned. "Stop? We are so close. The barriers are weakening. Soon we will have a new world. A safe world for my children. For all of us."

Charles wheeled closer. "Wanda, listen to us. What you are doing is tearing apart two universes. If the barriers break completely, everything will be destroyed. Not just this world. Not just theirs. Both of them."

Wanda shook her head. "You always say that, Charles. You always talk about peace and coexistence with my father. But where was that peace when they hunted us? When they experimented on us? When my kids lost their father? I am doing this for my boys. For Tommy and Billy. They deserve a life without fear and hiding. Without people trying to take them away from me."

Tony raised his hands. "Look, I get it. Parents want the best for their kids. I do not have kids but I have built enough stuff to know you want to protect what is yours. Heck, my dad would have done the same. But this would lead to total annihilation. You would not be saving anyone with this."

Charles spoke gently. "Wanda, we are not here to take anything from you. We are here because if the barriers break, your children will not have any future. No one will."

Cap added, "We know you are doing this because you love your sons. But love sometimes means making the hard choice. The choice that saves more lives. Even if it is not the one you want."

Wanda's hands trembled slightly. The red energy flickered. "You do not understand. I have lost everything before. I will not lose them too."

Erik stepped closer to his daughter. His voice was low and tired. "Wanda, I thought the same thing. I thought if I could find a new world, our people would finally be safe. But these people are telling the truth. At least, I believe they are. If the barriers break, there will be no world left for us to go.."

Wanda looked at her father. Tears filled her eyes. "Then what am I supposed to do? Just give up? Let them grow up in a world that hates them?"

"No," Kakashi said quietly. He had been listening the whole time. "You do not have to give up. But you have to choose a different way. A way that does not destroy everything."

The group stood in silence for a moment. Everyone waited for Wanda to speak.

Wanda lowered her hands slightly. The energy beams weakened but did not stop completely. "You say there is another way. But I have heard that before. It never worked. People always turn on us in the end."

Wanda's shoulders shook. Tears ran down her cheeks. She looked at the cracks in the sky. Then at her father. Then at the group standing in front of her. The weight of her choice was clear on her face.

She whispered, "I just want them to be safe. Is it too much to ask?"

Erik placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know. But this is not the way."

Kakashi said after a minute, "I might have a way to bring some of the mutants to our universe. I promise to give it a try if you help us with Jean and if you stop breaking the barriers between the world."
