Chapter 175 - Chapter 174: She will understand, right?

When Kakashi woke up, he was on a stretcher on the quinjet. He looked at the other Avengers who were seated next to him.

He immediately asked Cap as he sat up and then immediately had to place a hand on his head as he got a bad headache. "What's the situation?"

Kakashi thought, 'I can't remember the last time I suffered from chakra exhaustion.'

Tony said, "Dude, you need to chill a little. The situation is in control thanks to you. The big blue guy with God complex is dead. And he died because of Jean's stray attack. Can you believe it? It is funny in a very bad way. I mean, the guy talked like he was the end of everything. He had the armor, the portals, the sand hands, the whole ancient god package. Then Jean just… poof. Turned him into ash from a stray attack. I almost feel bad for him."

Cap then said, "We are currently going with Erik towards where his daughter is. It seems whatever the seal that you have placed on Jean is going to break soon. Charles is keeping a track of where her seal state is at as he has locked on Jean's energy signature. It should be less than a week before the seal breaks up according to him."

Kakashi thought, 'One more day than what I thought.'

"And Erik's daughter is…" Kakashi asked.

"Going to help us deal with Jean because Erik believes she is the only one strong enough to be able to deal with Jean," Cap said.

'Considering she can tear holes between reality then I guess yes she can,' Kakashi thought and then turned to see Erik also seated in the jet.

Meanwhile the others rapidly blinked their eyes, they were pretty sure that Kakashi was not wearing a mask when he woke up but for some reason he was back to wearing a mask now.

Erik spoke up. "I have been explained the situation that I have caused."

He looked around the quinjet. "Does tearing the hole through the universe could really destroy both the universes?"

"Yes," Kakashi answered simply.

Erik nodded slowly. He did not look shocked. He looked like a man who had already accepted hard truths many times in his life. "You came here. There should be a way to go to the other universe without destroying it."

Kakashi stayed quiet and let him speak.

Erik continued, his voice steady. "I will have still done it even if it had led to the destruction of this universe but if the mutants also die then there is no point of doing it."

Some people in the jet was shocked that the man was going to go as far as to let everyone die for his goals.

Erik continued, "I have spent my entire life watching my people suffer. I lost my family because of that fear. I lost my wife. Every time I tried to build something safe for mutants, someone came to tear it down. I am tired of running. I am tired of hiding. I want a place where my people can live without looking over their shoulders. Without being called monsters. Without being killed for being born different."

Erik's voice grew stronger. "If your universe has no mutants, then it is the perfect place. No one would know us. No one would hate us yet. We could start fresh. Build our own home. Raise our children without fear. That is all I wanted. A safe world for mutants. If destroying this universe gave my people that, I would have done it. But if my own kind die in the process, then what is the point? I am not here to kill mutants. I am here to save them."

He looked at Kakashi directly. "So tell me if there is a way to bring my people to your universe without any repurcussions?"

Kakashi gave it a thought before replying, "There is no way to bring hundreds of thousands of people into another reality without causing an Incursion. The barriers between our universe our already weak enough as it is."

Erik said, "If we want Wanda to help, we need an answer to this. Wanda wants the same thing as me. She wants her children to grow up without hiding their powers. Without being called freaks. Without living in constant danger. That is why she helped me. That is why she opened the barriers. She thought she was giving her kids a future. I thought the same for all mutants. We were wrong about the cost. But the desire was never evil. It was born from pain. From years of being hunted. From never feeling safe."

Erik finally said, "It will be difficult to explain this to Wanda. She had been trying to break the barriers between reality with no regard to herself. She really wants to get her kids a safe place to live where she and they can live peacefully."

"Well, she would need to understand. Surely, she would understand if it means that by trying to get a better life for her kids, she would be destroying lives of two universes. Right?" Banner asked.

When Erik did not answer, he once again asked with a little fear, "Right?"
