"Avengers Assemble!"
Kakashi's voice cut through the explosions and all the sound and screams that were due to aliens invading Earth.
He did not shout. He did not need to. Everyone heard him clearly. It was not magic, it was because they all wore an earpiece that communicated his voice.
"My clones will focus on evacuating every civilian. The rest of you keep the Chitauri inside a one-kilometre circle around the portal. We limit the damage. We keep the fight here. Understood?"
Heads nodded all around. Even Tony, who usually had a smart remark ready, simply gave a short salute.
"Natasha, go help Thor on the tower. We need the Tesseract shut down. That is the only way to close the portal."
Natasha was already running toward the stairwell. "On it."
Tony looked up at the sky. The portal was vomiting more aliens every second. Giant leviathans twisted through the air like metal whales. He gave a tired, wry smile.
"Love the confidence, Mr.HideBehindTheMask, but that is a whole lot of ugly coming our way. Those big ones look like they eat tanks for breakfast. We are short on both bodies and big guns."
Kakashi snorted once. "You let me worry about the big guns."
He stepped off the edge of the building and fell.
For one heartbeat, nothing happened.
Then the sky exploded with blue light.
A colossal warrior made of pure chakra rose from the street below. It was taller than most skyscrapers, almost as tall as the Burj Khalifa.
Blue armour plates covered its body. Massive wings of energy spread wide. The perfect, complete Susanoo stood in the middle of New York City, and Kakashi stood in its chest like a god of war.
Tony's jaw actually dropped inside his helmet.
"Oi… Jarvis? Are you seeing this?"
"I am seeing it, sir," the AI answered, voice unusually quiet. "But I am having difficulty believing it."
Kakashi raised his two giant hand. And two big shuriken the size of buses formed in the air.
"Kamui Shuriken."
He threw them.
The spinning blades flew in perfect arcs. Where they touched a Chitauri soldier, the alien simply vanished, sucked into another dimension. Entire squads disappeared in the blink of an eye. One leviathan tried to turn away. A single shuriken hit its side. Half the creature, half machine, half its body was simply gone, erased from existence. The rest crashed into a street, crushing cars and sending up a tower of smoke.
Tony stared, speechless.
"That energy armour… how the hell is he generating that much power?" he whispered.
Jarvis answered quickly. "Unknown, sir. The output is beyond anything in my database. It should be impossible. No reactor, no fuel source, nothing. He is breaking every law of physics I know."
Tony gave a weak laugh. "Jarvis, my friend, science took a long coffee break the moment that man showed up. I think it's not coming back today."
Kakashi moved as he created two giant swords made out of Susanoo's chakra.
The Susanoo drew both swords. Blue chakra ran along the blades.
With one smooth motion, Kakashi swung. Two crescent energy slashes flew across the sky like shooting stars.
They cut through everything in their path. Hundreds of Chitauri riders were sliced in half before they could scream.
A leviathan tried to dive. The slash caught it across the middle. The creature split cleanly, both pieces falling in flames. Another slash rose higher and higher until it hit an empty office tower. The building was cut perfectly in half. The top part slid sideways and crashed into the street below in a storm of glass and steel.
The sky, which had been black with aliens, suddenly had wide patches of clear blue again. Alien bodies and pieces of leviathans rained down like a horrible metal storm.
Captain America stood on a wrecked bus, shield in hand, staring up with wide eyes.
"I fought in a war," he said slowly. "I jumped on grenades. I flew planes into ice. I thought I had seen everything a man could do. But this… this is something else. I don't think this new century really needs me anymore. I would almost rather go back and fight Hydra. At least they stayed on the ground."
Creel, now completely metal from head to toe, punched a Chitauri soldier so hard the alien flew three blocks. He laughed loudly.
"That's our boss! Look at him go!"
Hulk landed nearby after smashing another leviathan into the pavement. He looked up at the towering blue warrior and grinned a huge, green grin.
"SILVER HAIR STRONG! HULK LIKE!"
Abomination ripped a hover chariot in half and threw the pieces at incoming enemies. He roared with joy.
Tony flew loops around the giant Susanoo, firing missiles into any Chitauri that tried to get close.
Natasha reached the top of Stark Tower. She paused at the broken window, looked down at the battlefield, and watched Kakashi's Susanoo swing again. Another wave of aliens simply ceased to exist.
She shook her head slowly, a small smirk on her lips.
"Does this guy have any idea how cool he looks right now?" she muttered. "And, for lack of a better word, how ridiculously hot he looks to every woman watching this?"
