Kakashi flanked by Natasha and Maria Hill, walked through the golden halls of Asgard's palace, escorted by Asgardian soldiers.
Maria already had a notepad in her hand and were already noting things that she could see in Asgard. Like the armor and weapons of the soldiers as well as any magical thing that she witnessed. Kakashi could not help but be impressed by her work ethic.
'She would have become a good secretary for any Hokage to do paperwork,' he thought
They reached the throne room, where Frigga sat. The soldiers knelt Natasha and Maria, sensing the formality, knelt to show respect.
On the other hand, Kakashi offered a quick bow just to show that while he respected her but he considered himself her equal.
Frigga's gaze softened,"There is no need for formalities. The ship is ready to depart. We are giving you some of the best Asgardian soldiers for the trip, along with some skilled mages who will run the ship properly. They are also capable combatants. Any hostile forces would find it difficult to fight with them. They will all be commanded by Lady Sif and under her authority. Any decisions made by her would be final."
Her eyes locked onto Kakashi as she recalled how he almost killed her son Loki and would have succeeded if not her husband stopping him.
"While the main goal of this trip is to bring back Loki to Asgard safely and unharmed so that he can be sentenced for his misdoings in Midgard as well as his crimes in Asgard," she said, emphasizing 'safely' and 'unharmed'. There was a subtle warning in his voice.
Frigga continued "We know the secondary goal is for the Midgardians to explore the universe and get an idea about what is out there. The Asgardians will assist you with this. Another secondary goal is to show the universe that Midgard is under Asgard's protection and that Asgard remains strong. Now, you may board the ship. Lady Sif is waiting for you. I wish you success on your journey."
The three agents bowed. They followed the soldiers through the palace to a sleek Asgardian ship docked at one of the many platforms.
Lady Sif stood waiting and immediately walked towards them when she saw them. "The ship is ready. Are you ready to depart?" she asked.
Kakashi nodded. They boarded, Sif introduced the crew: a dozen Asgardian soldiers and a handful of mages.
Kakashi's instincts twitched when he was introduced to One particular mage and a warrior.
The mage's eyes gleamed with unsettling glee when she looked at Kakashi and seemed to be glaring at Natasha and Maria.
The soldier seemed to be in pain but his face was masking it and shadowed the mage mostly.
Kakashi decided to keep a watch on them but took his seat as the ship prepared to take off.
The ship hummed, its engines pulsing with magic as it rose swiftly, piercing Asgard's atmosphere in a blur of gold and blue.
Maria's face lit with awe. She stared at the stars, her mind racing.
Natasha's expression was calm like it was just another night in New York and she was gazing in the night stars.
Days passed in relative silence, the ship gliding through the cosmos. Natasha and Maria worked tirelessly as they recorded data on planets the Asgardians pointed out.
A desert world with nomadic sentients—low threat, primitive tech. A gas giant with floating cities—potential allies, advanced energy systems.
Meanwhile Kakashi in his cabin, crafted fuinjutsu seals that he knew would come in handy during the trip.
Kakashi stopped his work as he sensed something outside and right at that instance
alarms blared and the ship shuddered with turbulence.
Kakashi exited his cabin.
"What is it?" he asked Sif, who stood at the command deck.
"Space mercenaries," Sif spat, her tone dripping with disdain. "They have us surrounded with six ships. They dare attack an Asgardian ship. Preposterous."
Maria asked curious, "Aren't the jobs of space pirates to attack other ships? Why wouldn't they attack us?"
Sif's glanced at her and replied, "Huh, why do you think they haven't attacked Earth? It's because it's under the Allfather's and Asgard's banner and protection. And so is this ship." Her voice rose, "Asgard's might is unmatched, its banner a shield against the cosmos's dregs. The Allfather's will echoes across the Nine Realms, his power a beacon of order. None dare challenge us, for our blades are sharp, our magic potent, and our resolve unbreakable. This ship carries the weight of Asgard's honor, and these mercenaries will learn the cost of their folly."
"But it seems, due to us not showing ourselves to the wider universe for some time, people have gotten bolder to attack our ship."
Sif's voice snapped as she addressed the ship mages, "Fire the ship's charges. Activate the barrier."
A shimmering magical shield enveloped the ship, glowing runes pulsing.
"Fire!" she ordered. A blast of energy lanced from the ship, striking a mercenary vessel. It exploded into space rubble, debris scattering in the void.
Maria was already noting down the capabilities of both the Asgard ship as well as the pirates. She knew that Fury would definitely want to study Asgard ship as she saw one of the pirate ship reduced to rubble just with a single blast.
