I watched Avira carefully, noticing the subtle tremor in her movements as she got to her feet.
Something about her energy felt… off. My instincts screamed at me, but when I asked, she just smiled and said everything was fine.
I wanted to press, but there was a determination in her eyes that told me she wouldn't answer. Not yet.
"We should get going," she said quickly, leading the way out. I exchanged a glance with Dylan, who looked equally unsettled, but neither of us said anything.
I could feel her discomfort, even through the layers she tried to hide. Her discomfort only made my chest tighten.
Dylan suggested shifting. it would get us to Unity pack faster but she disagreed almost too quickly. And then, still too quickly, she switched sides.
My gut twisted. Something was wrong, and she was trying to cover it up. She suggested we trot instead, but I saw through her act. The hesitation, the faint flicker of fear in her eyes, it was all there.
