The city was quiet when the night arrived, and a sense of peaceful solitude veiled the surroundings. Everybody was probably already at home. They had already shared a meal with their loved ones and had probably already gone to sleep. That's because they worked all day to return to that special space.
Nathan didn't know if he could also call it his special space. He'd made such an effort to make it comfortable and warm enough, but the sense of uneasiness still wouldn't disappear. That house was piercingly cold to him, and every time he tried to sleep he was reminded of it by the way the air's whispers could be heard even in the middle of the night. It was the one and only sound keeping him company.
He thought that it would be the same this time as well. It was pretty late, and Lucian was probably already fast asleep. He didn't even consider waking him up.
If he did, what was he supposed to say?
'Keep me company?' because he felt lonely?
