"Where exactly is this?" Naya asked, scanning the place.
"This," Emiko began, "was Fallowmere's old cemetery. After lord Ren left, it was abandoned and a new burial site was made closer to the settlement. No one comes this far anymore. It could be the perfect place for thrashers to hide undetected."
"If that is the case, why didn't you check here sooner?" Naya pressed.
"I wasn't certain," Emiko admitted. "This place has been abandoned for decades. The elders warned people not to wander this far. The idea only came to me now after learning the thrashers might still be nearby."
Anwyll gaze swept through the treeline before he spoke. "In that case, we have to stay alert. We don't know what's hiding in the shadows."
They nodded and drew their weapons closer to them.
They passed through the rusting gates. Though it was midday, the cemetery was utterly devoid of movements. No birdcalls, no insects, just a heavy, suffocating silence.
